Fayetteville Police received information on Wednesday night, November 11, 2009, that a man had Shaniya in his arms at a hotel in Sanford, North Carolina (about 45 minutes from where the child went missing). Cops say someone at the hotel called police after recognizing Shaniya’s photo from the news. Police went to the location to check the surveillance, but the man and Shaniya were already gone. Police released still photos from the surveillance camera of a man by the name of Mario McNeill carrying little Shaniya near an elevator on Tuesday morning, November 10, 2009 at 6:11 a.m. Right now, investigators are not saying McNeill’s connection to child or her family.

Cops say McNeill and Shaniya were only at the hotel for one hour before leaving the location. Earlier today, November 13, 2009, at an undiscolsed location, police were able to track down McNeill. He was arrested and charged with First-Degree Kidnapping. The problem is, investigators still don’t know where the child is.

I wasn't aware of the one hour info.

This is driving me nuts! I've been gone all day and I was hoping to come back here and find news of Shaniya.

Is it just me, or does this new "one hour" info seem bad for Shaniya?
I suppose it can be any number of scenario's here. But the first thing that comes to mind for me is that he took her there to molest her. The next thought was that an hour would be a good amt of time to change her appearance, possibly buzz her hair off, change her clothes, etc?
I really don't know, but to me, the one hour time frame seems bad.

why check in just to check out an hour later? Plus, obviously on camera.
Misleading everyone in the wrong direction? Kinda like buying airplane tickets to Hawaii, then taking a bus to New York.
Someone show up early to get her?
Unfortunately, I have to work, but i'd really like to see the McNeill/Davis/Coe connection and which family member could be hiding her. I really think that is the outcome.

Especially since they have not released video or photos of them leaving the hotel.

When I heard "one hour" I immediately thought about a hand off with someone else.

Yes I wasn't either. So he was there for only one hour. I wonder if Mcneill put on the tv in the room and freaked out and left after hearing about the kidnapping and an arrest. I wish they would tell us where they picked him up.

Hmm. You might have a point. I've said numerous times that I am not so sure yet that Coe is completely innocent in this, reguardless of his charges being dropped. And there IS still the sighting of Shaniya leaving the MHP with Coe in a car. (ETA: which we've speculated may have been the security cameras)
Could it be that Coe handed her off to MAM long enough to get her on camera with someone else, to take suspicion off him???
Not sure why MAM would participate in that or what would be in it for him, but it's still a workable theory. Maybe he got something out of it. Maybe he got an hour with Shaniya? I hope not. But maybe.

I still think there is a connection between McNeil, Coe, and mom. I don't see how you take a little girl from a small trailer full of people in the middle of the night and go unnoticed. Maybe there's so much chaos in the trailer already that everyone ignored the door/noise b/c they are used to others moving about all the time.

Still, I personally believe mom and/or Coe are involved somehow.

Is that MS page you refer to the same one from which you got the photo of the little girl? That little girl did not look like Shaniya to which is why I ask. But you now think the mother is a match to the MS as well? Just trying to make sure that I have this straight.

What location does the MS page give? I looked earlier and couldn't find anything that I thought was a likely match. I will have to look again.

On closer look I do not think this is her mother. I believe her mother to be 23 years old and her grandma 46 years old. So no this is definately not a match. The photo has been removed by myself.

That's my feelings exactly. That's why it's important to see the surveillance video from when they were leaving to see what she looked like then. Why are they keeping that info from us? Something just doesn't add up there.

This might be a stupid question but why enter a not guilty plea if you admitted to kidnapping?

Because your lawyer thinks that he can get it excluded at trial for any number of reasons, or can make a case to the jury that your confession was false because you were under duress, etc.

Do we know the middle name of Shaniya's bio mother or initial at least?

Am I missing something? How hard can this be? If they have video cameras in the hotel, surely they know if Shaniya left the hotel or not. Either she never left (and I'm assuming they have torn that hotel apart) or she did. There are only 2 choices here. I suppose someone could have snuck down the hotel stairs and out a side door, but I'm going with the assumption that the hotel has the entrances/exits monitored.

Not only that, but if I (as a hotel employee) felt certain enough that the girl was Shaniya to call the police, then there would be no way I would let them leave the hotel without my knowledge. I'd be monitoring each and every exit until the police arrived.

So, if she's not in the hotel, with whom did she leave? Mcneill? Someone else? Alone (doubtful)? What aren't they telling us???

ita....praying she is found safe..

The footage at the hotel was from 6:11 AM on Tuesday, and if he was only there an hour, that means he (they?) left by 7:11 AM. There were no arrests yet, and I don't think there was any coverage of the case yet either. I could be wrong on the coverage though. Can someone local verify?

Good thought though.

ETA: The quote went funky. Sorry.

Just a thought but maybe someone MAM knew was checked into the hotel in a different room. He hands Shaniya off to that person and then leaves. Other person changes her clothes, fixes hair, then leaves undetected? Idk just thinking out loud.
