Something struck me as odd...she went missing on June 13 and she was going to purchase school supplies? School had just let out. Why would she be going to buy stuff for school?

She had received a scholarship to attend a summer fine-arts program at Mount Tabor High School.
Sherri told her mother she was going to buy some supplies for school, scheduled to start the following Monday.

Last seen at Raylass Department Store.at 4.30 PM. Sherri's parents and friends spent the night searching for her in the neighborhood and nearby Happy Hill Park. Detectives spent six weeks canvassing downtown and searching for Sherri.

Another account sais:

They thought she may have drowned in one of the creeks at Happy Hill Park, as it rained heavily that night and there was flooding. They would have found her no?

Guess she met with foul play, this was 1970 so it was easier to get away with it at that time. There isn't a whole lot of info either but it seems like they really did what they could to find her at the time.

I stumbled on Sherri's disappearance while looking up something else. You probably know how that goes. And it really shocks me (still!) that she was never found. A little bump for a too-long missing little girl. So sad.

I'm pretty sure they were not speaking of a mall as we think of today but instead meant the term as a strip mall. Winston Salem had plenty of those.

I’ve found some typos in some of the cases. She lived on Pitts street not Pitt Street. Also it was Raylass Department Store not Rayless.

A person likes a small earring color or shape, they generally stick with it through life. Blue… turquoise… the skin color just can’t be that of a white person. I found it strange that a 14 year old would head out at 11:30 am …. Run errands for 5 hours?! And the go to pay the bill at 4:30pm. Too much time lapsed. College was getting out around that time. What if she went to Cali with someone? Yes, it’s possible she grew just under a foot in 7 years. Her hair looks silky; add a relaxer to it and you get … looks like a mole above right lip like Sherri.

Exactly my friend, as you mentioned more than 10 years ago, she is still missing, I think she was kidnapped... the United States is full of sex offenders, serial killers, etc... poor little girl, hopefully one day we will know the truth about her case.
