Gracie, I think it's the judge who has not given permission yet for any more of the trial to be recorded.

That makes sense, Skittles -- Every minute and word of what I have seen in this entire case reminds me so keenly of the Shaniya Davis case in Cumberland County here in NC. Her killer was tried and got the death penalty -- Mario McNeill -- he's on Death Row. And then her mother (McNeill was a lover of hers and apparently her drug dealer as well). pleaded and got 21 years, 9 months for a string of child-trafficking & abuse charges. The judge did not permit cameras on that one, either.

Six-year-old Shaniya's mother "loaned" her to McNeill in pmt of a drug debt. She knew he was taking her for sex. He did that, we're sure, but was not charged with rape, but he was charged with M1 and a string of some other stuff.

It was awfull to think of how that little girl was treated, but this case with Teghan, IMO, is way, way worse -- and I thought that impossible, naively. But I can't get Shaniya's beautiful face (the prettiest little girl I've ever seen in my life) out of my mind.

There has got to be a special place in he!! for these people. Here's what the judge said to McNeill -- the last 14 words spoken in the courtroom which I have never forgotten:

"You did not have to kill that child. Take him out of here, now."

Amen to that.

May it be so for Richardson.

I have been wanting to follow this trial and am just now listening to opening statements, but don't know if I can make it through this. What I'm hearing is more upsetting than I expected.

Also, as many of you know, no 'live' stream today.

WRAL answered me back that it was their decision not to carry it because of the sensitive nature of the crime, something like that. Can't recall their exact words. I answered that 'a number of us follow these cases on WS and we are requesting they live stream it. No reply to that remark of mine.

Going through this live stream, Kelli O'Hara said 'if you want us to cover this call my news room.' Judge apparently said it's okay, but enough people have to call, was it WTVD?

Okay, WTVD claims the judge won't allow it. Said to call the judge and request. What's the judges name and is he district court or superior court? I skimmed through and couldn't locate name of judge.

If you have questions that can be addressed by a Criminal Superior Court Clerk, you may call 919-209-5400.

I did find this number for Superior Court judges, Smithfield, N.C.

I guess not many people are here right now, but I've been reading through Kelli's twitter posts of the nurse testimony. Nurse said 'she told officer to give her his gun and lets get this over with.' Nurse said 'she chased down Richardson, jumped on his back to keep him from leaving.' Nurse said 'she leapt on Richardson and grabbed him by the throat, trying to rip his throat out.' I want to hear this testimony live, not read it through twitter. :( I'm trying to imagine, these professionals, who see murder and mayhem daily in their work in the ER, reacting this way to what they saw when Richardson brought little Teghan into the hospital that night. :(

This trial needs national coverage. Why isn't HLN there?

I e-mailed two Raleigh TV stations and phoned one.

I got prompt replies.

All three have stated the judge in the case is not allowing video streaming of the entire trial; no gavel to gavel coverage. The judge only allowed opening statements Monday morning.

Due to the nature of the testimony and gruesomeness of this crime, I can understand why this trial is not being "live streamed."

If Teghan Skiba had been my child, I would not want this trial "live streamed." JMO

Respectfully, I believe this case cries for national coverage.

Child abuse is way too prevalent and too frequently ignored. It angers me that so many prefer to close their eyes and ears to this shameful topic.

I read her tweets, and all I can say is OMG.
Nurses see pretty horrific stuff on a regular basis, can you even imagine how bad this little girl must have been for this woman to lose it like that?
Much as I want to follow this trial I do not think I could handle the live stream.
This may be a record setter in terms of juries returning a verdict, if they have to look at pictures of Teghan I doubt they will have to discuss for more than 30 seconds to vote guilty.

Hello dear friends. Cannot stop thinking about this sweet child. Last I was so struck by a kid's case was with Carnel Chamberlain -the beautiful boy who looked like the child me and Mr. Chiquito will never have :( -----, and Baby Gabriel. And now little Teghan. Why oh why oh why :(

Agree, it should be getting a ton of national (and even international) coverage.
I did not even know about this case, and only saw it here on WS.
I am amazed it is not being screamed about on all the major news stations, much less HLN.

At the same time, I do not want to watch this on live stream.
I would like to hear testimony, and learn more about this so called "mother" and how this child was left with the monster.
But I know enough of the details about what was done to her, I think if I had to listen to them explained, in depth, I would be on a friggin' plane to NC trying to get at this guy.
I just do not even have the words to explain....

Chelly, I am an active child's advocate in TX. I have contact with many folks from all walks of life in my efforts. As advocating and supporting children, the elderly and animals regarding abuse, I have never come in contact with a person who preferred to close their eyes and ears to abuse. There are folks out there that may choose to do that but I've never personally met them.

In my area, we work very hard to bring awareness to child abuse. We are fortunate that we have the support of media outlets locally and in some of the larger metro areas within a 100 mile radius. I personally have developed a relationship with the media that covers my area and it is wonderful to get valuable air time coverage to bring awareness to various abuse cases in my area and/or TX.

There is so much that individuals can do to bring awareness to abuse of three vulnerable segments of our society: children, the cherished elderly and animals. I am very active in animal rights in my area and do rescues.

There are many ways one can bring awareness to child abuse such as volunteer with CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates), contact your state legislatures regarding laws you feel need to be changed or enacted in your state, contact your representative(s) at the federal level, etc.

During National Child Abuse Prevention month (April), many folks in my county, along with our local media, do an exceptional job of bringing awareness to child abuse and prevention. I know many other counties and other states do the same.

This is a very good and informative government Link for those who are interested in bringing awareness to child abuse and prevention:

I just watched WTVD (Raleigh, NC) live stream of their 5 pm News.

Kelli O'Hara gave an update from the court house in Smithfield, Johnston County, NC re the Jonathan Richardson trial.

Her report was in line with her tweets today.

There were several snippets of the nurse who testified that Richardson said he had to go to his truck. She ran after him and detained him. She said she grabbed him by the throat and could have ripped out his esophagus.

She also said she told a LE officer to give her his gun and she would end this right now (with Richardson). {not verbatim}

I assume WTVD will post an article and the video from the news later.

However, this will probably be on again on the 6 pm News. Here's a Link to WTVD's "live" news feed:

WRAL - Raleigh, NC

Smithfield, N.C. — Doctors and nurses "feverishly worked" to save the life of 4-year-old Teghan Skiba when her mother's boyfriend took her to the emergency room of Johnston Memorial Hospital more than three years ago, claiming she hit her head while jumping on the bed.

But Dr. Michael Evans, a physician on call July 16, 2010, testified Tuesday in the capital murder trial of Jonathan Douglas Richardson that the child had a faint pulse, strained breathing, dilated eyes and was limp and lifeless.
