Was surprised to see that license plate readers aren't legal on Nebraska highways.

********
The Proctors' son, Victor, wishes that license plate readers were legal on the highways of Nebraska. Those readers are used in some municipalities in the state.

If they were allowed on highways and interstates, the readers might have helped determine which direction the Proctors' vehicle was moving "right away," he said.

"In our society, it is a core principle that the government does not invade people’s privacy and collect information about citizens’ innocent activities just in case they do something wrong."

While perhaps a benefit in cases like this, I am not sure the costs of mass surveillance outweigh the occasional benefits.

Anxious to see what AWP turns up. They've been there since Saturday, per ketv.com article in post #59.

A friend's mom had something similar happen. She had a phone but battery died. She was driving all over NE country roads in the dark until she wound up in a ditch. (Happy ending as LE found her pretty quickly.)

I think this is a new article about AWP. It includes a photo of a map with an epicenter.

(I didn't realize Jared, who is quoted in the article, was still working with AWP, but I haven't kept up with that. )

STILL MISSING: Loveda and Robert Proctor (Live Search Update)

This livestream is to bring you into the search with us for Loveda and Robert Proctor, so you know what we’ve covered, and what you can do to help us bring the Proctor’s home to their family. Lots of details in the Livestream so be sure to watch beginning to end and share with everyone you know.

Loveda and Robert Proctor, a couple from Aurora, Nebraska, have been missing since January 12, 2023. As of March 1st, they have yet to be found. It’s time for we as a community to come together to get out there and search, and spread awareness throughout Nebraska, Kansas and Colorado to help the Proctor family who have been tirelessly searching.

Loveda, 92 years old, and Robert, 89 years old, were last seen at Adams High School at 1:39 AM in Hastings, Nebraska driving a 2007 Chrysler Pacific with United States Navy Nebraska license plate number 10 30 and a SeaBees Navy sticker.

The family and loved ones of the Proctors have been pleading with the public to help in the search for the missing couple. The community has come together to distribute flyers and organize search parties in an effort to find the couple. They have also taken to social media to spread awareness of their disappearance and ask for any information that may lead to their whereabouts.

The disappearance of the Proctors has left many in the community on edge, as the couple is well-known and loved by many. They are described as kind and caring individuals who are always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. The community is determined to find them and bring them home safely.

As the search for the missing couple continues, Loveda and Robert's family and friends, along with the authorities and search and rescue teams, are asking the public to keep an eye out for the couple's car or any other signs that may lead to their whereabouts. If anyone has any information, they are urged to contact the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office at (402) 694-6936.

In times like these, it is important for communities to come together to support one another. The disappearance of Loveda and Robert Proctor has brought the community of Aurora together to search for the missing couple. As the search continues, the community is asking for the public's help in bringing the couple home safely.

AWP had a second livestream and the family now has a FB page/group, both linked below.

AWP pulling out after 8 days. Unconfirmed sighting on 2/3 in Lexington, NE, leading to speculation they had cash with them, possibly staying at motels. Unclear if the sightings were credible as gas station video no longer available. Clerk remembers them and a guy driving says he remembers their plate # and near-accident. Family starting searches.

Kind of a happy thought, the two of them on their last great adventure.... but it sure seems unlikely... where, oh, where could they be?

Not being in touch with family to me means misadventure or foul play. I tend to think the former. Large parking lots - malls, theaters, event venues, etc., need to be searched for the car.

I do think them being seen early a.m. at a gas station may indicate a choice to go somewhere other than home even if they started out lost & known path of travel seems to reinforce that.

Easy to ask a clerk to call police for help if they were desperately wanting to get home, as most assume. And yet, tired & probably hungry, etc., they did not do that?

I do believe as the weather warms & more people are out recreating, they will be found.

The AWP guy asked the granddaughter if she had any idea why they might not have asked for directions or help at the last confirmed sighting, 1:37 am on 1/12. Laci the granddaughter said maybe they were feeling relieved to have found an open gas station and been able to use restroom and get something to eat. (The previous sighting just a little bit earlier was at a closed gas station.)

They could've been so disoriented at that point - five hours after leaving the hospital. It's hard to imagine them not asking someone to call their family or to call 911 for them.

Looking at the new FB page tonight, people are posting that they will search and one said they are handing out fliers to drivers, one on the CB, one posting on driving company FB pages. If they are on the road, it seems someone would see them. Another person posted about them being separated from their car somewhere, like it being towed, and them ending up in a shelter. Granddaughter confirms no banking info at all after people asking if they wrote checks.

Very sad news. :( My heart goes out to the Proctor family.

Victor Proctor said Saturday the couple was found around 60 miles from home, but could not elaborate. He said police are investigating and hope to have more information available soon.

Not unexpected, but still very sad. RIP. I hope that they didn't suffer.
