AT's recent statements:

He’s given three statements to the FBI, but that “having information about a case doesn’t necessarily mean you’re guilty.”

“Did I have information? Yes, I did. Did that mean I killed someone? No, it does not,” Trail said during three phone calls in the media.

Trail said he also expects charges to be filed against his girlfriend, Bailey Boswell, though he insisted more than once during a 30-minute conversation that she was not involved in Loofe’s death.

“We’re probably a lot more than people of interest,” he said. “(But) Bailey Boswell was not involved.”

Trail said he would not discuss his involvement.

“If we are charged, that is something that will be discussed in court,” he said.

They’ve crisscrossed the country, Trail said, visiting casinos in Las Vegas and Council Bluffs, buying antique coins in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, and seeing shows in Branson, Missouri.

“We love Branson,” he said. “We always stay at the Windmill.”

Trail said he called in response to a letter from a reporter and because the news about him and his girlfriend has been “very one-sided.”

For instance, he said that while Boswell faces charges of using a bad check in Pennsylvania to buy antique coins, Trail claimed that her check bounced because an antique buyer, a doctor, failed to deposit $25,000 in her bank account.

“We’re getting so much negative publicity that something has to be done,” Trail said.

“People should have an open mind,” he said. “I’m not a nice person. I’m not innocent of a lot of things. ... I can’t defend my past. I can’t defend my lifestyle. But don’t believe everything you hear.”

“I don’t make excuses for what I’ve done,” Trail said later. “I’m a criminal.”

He acknowledged that Loofe had been in their apartment in Wilber, and that before the discovery of her body, he and Boswell had traveled west to York, “in the general area” of where the body was found.

Do you have something to say to the Loofe family? he was asked.

“I could say a lot of things,” Trail said, “but with the things going on about us, it would probably be more disrespectful for them.”

This was most of his conversation when he was in Saline County Jail.

Just a few interesting details on AT's current accommodations at Leavenworth Detention Center...

It is a max security facility BUT inamtes can have low, medium, and high custody levels. It is also a for profit facility ran by CoreCivic (also called CCA), a corporation based in Nashville, TN.
https://www.corecivic.com/hubfs/_fi...7-Leavenworth-PREA-Report.pdf?t=1515163734913
(pdf file, first few pages give facility and company details)

Over-bunking and understaffing are apparently issues discovered during an audit by the DOJ.
http://www.kansascity.com/news/local/article146742199.html (video & article)

The facility operator (CCA/CoreCivic) has also came under fire for eavesdropping on attny-client calls, recording those calls, also making video recordings, and then provided them to prosecutors to help build strong cases. Well as much as they like to listen, AT sure likes to talk so, that could be interesting.

This is prison city basically. We have THREE federal/state prisons/ penitentiary (Leavenworth and Lansing) and two military prisons (min and max). Understaffing is a problem at all of them!

Edited: Ok now I’m creeped out. I did not know that the LDC is the Maximum Security Federal Prison here and that it is privately run. The Leavenworth Penitentiary is the medium and minimum one. Lansing is a Kansas State prison. So I live within a 10 mile radius of 5 Federal/State/Military prisons. 🤯

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leavenworth_Detention_Center

“The Leavenworth Detention Facility is one of five state, federal and military prisons in the Leavenworth / Lansing area. The other four are:

the Lansing Correctional Facility, operated by the Kansas Department of Corrections
the United States Penitentiary, Leavenworth (USP) and its satellite prison camp, operated by the Federal Bureau of Prisons
the United States Disciplinary Barracks, the U.S. military's only maximum-security facility
the Midwest Joint Regional Correctional Facility, another U.S. military facility”

Now I have to go give the one finger wave to the right facility! Lol

I am new to this thread - someone linked to the case in another thread earlier this week and I have been reading every post since. I am currently at posts from Dec 15, and I usually finish reading a thread prior to commenting.

But I wanted to say why this case has me riveted enough to go back and read every single post from beginning to end.

Just the story alone of a young woman being excited about a second date that ended up this way is sad enough. But it's even more heartbreaking to me given that only 4% of our population identifies as LGBT, so the pool of potential mates is much slimmer. I know how difficult it is to find someone you even want to see a second time and how excited some of my single hetero friends get when a date has actually gone very well. It just makes it even more sad to me that Sydney thought she had met someone worthwhile, but who was completely playing her. Getting played is hard enough, but this is just terrifying.

Being from a very small Midwest town myself, and finding out what Bailey's life was like in high school and how she turned into this just also has me completely shocked. I keep thinking about what I would feel if someone like her from my town had turned out to be a killer.

Yesterday I messaged a single friend because of this case. I summed it up and asked her to consider sending me information on her dates before going out with them and to check in with me the next day just as a safety measure. As it is, she has too often encountered creeps even though she runs a background check on every one because she has kids.

I take it a step farther - there's no sense waiting until after a date to check in. Check ins should happen when the person arrives at the date destination, and then at least every hour thereafter.

A missed check in the next day is only going to possibly help find the person who kills...a missed checkin the night of the date is an immediate red flag and may save a life.

Ingrid Lyne is a perfect example of this!

is this case going to blow up?

Lancaster County Attorney's Office seeks to hire investigator for special criminal case

The investigator would likely be a retired police sergeant who would be responsible for finding and interviewing witnesses, gathering evidence and possibly serving subpoenas. The position would expire in a year.

The position would cost the county a maximum of $70,872 if the investigator worked 40 hours a week every week for the yearlong stint. They do not anticipate the investigator would draw the entire salary. This is outside the County Attorney Office's $7.7 million annual budget and the first investigator employed by the Lancaster County Attorney's Office.

The Douglas County Attorney's Office has four full-time investigators of its own.

New here, but I just had a thought and I hope it's ok to post. Is it possible Trail was a child at the time the Rulo cult was operating and actually lived on the ranch? Could be witness protection/name change or prison release. It is odd to find no records of his existence before 1996. Him mentioning the Rulo cult was quite odd to me.

Welcome Whatis. I have to say I wondered that too and even looked into the cult leaders own son but could not find anything to tie him to it. Did you find anything?

I looked last week too and didn't find anything.

Thinking more on it, then seein radars ad about the paying for juicy stories, makes me think little truth to it. I have never heard before, that at and bb posed as father daughter.

I was just coming to post that Radar item. Saw the headline "Father-Daughter" thing and I'm going no way! They just acted as father-daughter....

So is there a link to this Rulo Cult? TIA!

Here are a few links I used to learn about it.

This one is an article, very well written from 1986, it's 4 pages.

Here is a court file with Michael Ryan (warning: disturbing details)
https://law.justia.com/cases/nebraska/supreme-court/1989/946-0.html

Here is one with his son Dennis Ryan (warning: disturbing details)

Here is a really good free ID episode with DR.
https://www.investigationdiscovery.com/tv-shows/evil-lives-here/full-episodes/son-of-the-prophet

I have even been able to find a couple of the other defendants on sm accounts. Imo, it's crazy that they were ever released. I do hold a bit of empathy for DR as he was very young and was clearly conditioned throughout his childhood. As for the older adults, I have no empathy whatsoever. Imo, it wouldn't surprise me if AT was on that farm at some point. There were several people there including minors, who were never named in court files or articles. AT would have been 16 years old in May of 1983 when the Ryan family moved from Kansas to Rulo, Nebraska.

A Wilber, NE local has also said (in a verbal conversation, not online) that these cults still exist in some of the rural areas. Perhaps not in the way people picture it, but the ideologies and way of life carries on. He said, It's one of those things people know about but just don't talk about.

I read the first link above.

I'm not seeing any hint of a link between those horrible crimes in the 1980s and Sydney's case. What am I missing?

I'm not buying it. So far it is trash / tabloid exploitation.+

Radar is always trash and a rumor monger / fomenter IMO.
A quick Google search found another article from "Kelo Media Group" which claimed that "Omaha World Herald" reported that Loofe was dismembered. So far I find nothing in OWH archives.
Neither Radar nor Kelo are MSM so I won't link them. This is why we depend on LE and MSM.

I will wait.

What i have seen is that owh published article which stated " in pieces". However they retracted. The only info we have on dismemberment is hearsay. Even if we trust the sources. It is not fact. I dont think there is a rulo link, unless the autopsy and forensics show us otherwise.

Extreme sleuthing is hard when you dont hokd all the pieces.
