Good question. I'd like know what part the black hawk played in all of this too. Maybe someone with SAR experience can help?

Do we know if the helicopter played a part in the actual recovery?

I am not sure I think that always applies Periwinkl. Dogs can become fearful also.

I remember in the Greone murder/kidnapping case when Joesph Duncan invaded their home they had two dogs and both of them were inside. One was a pit bull and one a mixed bred.

No one heard the dogs barking that night. Later on Duncan said he thought he would have to kill the dogs to silence them but they just whimpered and went into another room and hid under a table.

IMO

IIRC NICOLE Simpsons aKeita dog didn't bark.........he was just walking aound with blood all over his paws???

I couldn't agree more. It pains me so much b/c I worry that in the future KL will look back and regret that her sister was "honored" in this way. I really don't know why no adult family, friend, neighbor someone explained to her how this isn't the time to be dressing up in her sister's clothes and parading (literally) around town.

It was an event planned by those close to this tragedy as a way to honor Celina Cass. They chose to show their appreciation of the opportunity to share their lives with Celina in this manner and I believe we should respect their decison and not condemn it.

I have wondered how they used the Blackhawk. It appears they serve multiple purposes. You can use one to build a temporary dam or to slow water. They have been used to divert water during searches by divers in the past. They also can be used for water rescues. They also might have had it around in case they needed to use it to remove the body from the water. A chopper also can provide an aerial surveillance of the area to ensure that nobody is crossing into the off-limits area. A chopper also can be used for searches and might have been in the area anyway.

Someone said earlier tonight that there was a dog in the house. Has that been confirmed? I haven't read that myself.

Just heard on FOX Boston that they called the AG's office for an update and were told that toxicology reports were not back yet. Apparently they had no other comment.

Aha. Blackhawks also feature sonar, and that is used to detect things in water.

I don't think it's so much a criticism of Celina's Mom but a notice of oddness. The average person just days of discovering their daughter has been killed and dumped like trash in a river isn't normally seen riding a float down the middle of town...annual parade or not.

I can appreciate where Celina's sister was coming from and if LN was there aboard that float for the sake of her surviving daughter then I give that woman a lot of credit. I would not have been able to do that...and frankly, it was almost painful to witness this poor mother on display like that.

I would not even consider this wake-like...not even close...just odd.

Everyone grieves differently. I don't think that is as odd as her not saying anything in the last weeks.. Now I feel sorry for her, she is damn if she does, and damn if she doesn't.

FOX in Boston mentioned on the newscast tonight that Celina's mother was at the memorial service this evening, but her SF was not.

Is the SF still in the hospital?

i am sure he is...it would have been a disaster for him to attend either the private service or the celebration of life. I am really hoping there will be some movement by LE and Jane Young now that the weekend festivities and the services are over.

I think you may be being a tad bit unfair. I think the 13 yr old loved her sister with all of her heart. And I think her desire to decorate a float in Celina's honor was a heartfelt sincere response. I don't see anything wrong with the sister and her friends wearing Celina's favorite princess clothes in her memory. I think it is a sweet and powerful statement of their love for her. They did not pick the date for the annual fair. It just happened to fall where it did. And I think the family did the best they could given the situation. The girls were hurting and this float gave them a way to make their statement to the community. I applaud them for it. I did wince a bit at first seeing Mom up there. But She probably listened to her daughters request to take part. I think they meant well and made an effort to memorialize their beloved Celina. imoo

thank you so much for that post...i spent about 5 minutes typing essentially the same thing and then hit the wrong key and lost it....you said it so well imo....this case just makes me so sad on so many levels..

when LE says toxocology can that also mean DNA?

JY in her statement about the autopsy said that they were waiting the results of "toxicological and other investigative tests"

that phrase certainly could include DNA.
I think JY does not want to give out any info she does not have to, and to tell us that she is waiting for DNA results would be a lot of info, and info she may not want to share.
So I do think that they are waiting for DNA tests to come back. But jmo.

:twocents:

IMOO, LE had significant evidence on Wednesday 7/27. That was the day they spoke to LN for 2 hours, and she came away completely devastated. They also called of the air/ground search that day, while saying they were still treating it as a missing person case. From what I've heard about this AAG, that may not have been completely true. If this scenario is accurate, it puts the ensuing events into a different light. ie LN not talking to the press, WN saying that they were "grieving", the more targeted ground and water search that launched (iirc) on 7/29, and so on. IOW, from sometime on the 27th on, they were looking for a body and the family knew it.
