Does anyone else think there could be a connection between Laureen's case and the cases of Shirley MacBride, Rachael Garden and Denise Daneault? They all looked relatively similar and lived in the same area of New Hampshire, all going missing within a few years of each other. I'd be interested to see if anyone else thinks they may be connected.

The FBI and Manchester Police are searching the woods on Kimball Street for a woman who went missing more than 37 years ago.

MPD and FBI evidence collection specialists were seen conducting an extensive search using heavy equipment behind the Kimball St housing project. The views from the air show a large cleared area with pieces of equipment being used to move the earth.

According to the cold case database Charley Project, Denise Ann Daneault was last seen leaving a private social club in downtown Manchester, New Hampshire at 1:30 a.m. on June 8, 1980. After she left the club, telling friends she was going to a party, she was never seen again.

Divorced with two young sons, Daneault lived with a roommate in the 300 block of Hayward Street Street in Manchester.

According to reports at the time, Laureen Rahn, a 14-year-old girl who lived on Merrimack Street just two blocks from Daneault, disappeared six weeks before Daneault did and was never found.

Daneault lived just a few doors down from suspected serial killer Terry Peder Rasmussen, who was living in the area under the name "Bob Evans", one of his many false identities, at the time.
He pleaded guilty to murdering his wife in California in 2003, and died in 2010.

Authorities believe Rasmussen was responsible for at least five more deaths, including the murder of Denise Beaudin, who disappeared from Goffstown, New Hampshire in 1981 and was never found, the murders of an unidentified woman and three female children whose bodies were found in a wooded area near Bear Brook State Park in Allenstown, New Hampshire.

This ad was placed in "The Morning Call" (Allentown, PA), on July 2, 1989. Interesting.....

Thank you for posting this Henry2326. I found it interesting that the article instructed anyone with information to call Children’s Rights of Pennsylvania (a missing person’s organization) rather than the police. Also of interest, all of the articles that I could find that refer to this organization are in relation to parental abduction. I wonder who Laureen’s father is and if he was a potential POI?

Jack Levin believes, for Rasmussen, intimacy led to murder.

"This guy may not have been able to control himself when he had an intimate relationship, either as a father, guardian, or a husband," Levin said. " And he decided when he didn't like the way things were going, he would get even with his victims."

There could still be more victims of Terry Rasmussen, right from his old Manchester, New Hampshire neighborhood.

In April 1980, a year and a half before Rasmussen disappeared, 14-year-old Laureen Rahn vanished from her home on Manchester's Merrimack St. At the time, Rasmussen lived a mile and a half a way.

New Hampshire authorities are not publicly linking the disappearances of Rahn and Daneault to Rasmussen; they tell Boston 25's Bob Ward there is no evidence connecting Rasmussen to those cases.

But Jack Levin tells Bob Ward the fact that Rasmussen, now a suspected serial killer, was in the neighborhood at the time of the disappearances is eye opening. Levin hopes investigators look for a possible relationship between Rasmussen and both of the missing females.

It seems to me, that when you see people missing who live on the same street as the killer, and it happens more than once, you have to believe he is the killer, Levin told Ward. "In my view, I think we have to look for the relationship Rasmussen had with all of these missing people. I think if we find the relationship, we will also find the killer.

Are we talking about the same nightclub where the mother of Laureen worked/or owned? Up the thread Steelslady mentioned that the mother alleged worked or owned a nightclub/restaurant.

Hello everyone,

This is my first message on this site. I have been doing a lot of research on this case <modsnipped discussing information from reddit- reddit is not an approved source to discuss here>

Back in the day (1980s) after 5pm you could 'charge' a call to your home phone number from anywhere in the US. All you needed was a phone number and then hope that the operator did not double check it for verification. Half the kids in my college were charging long distance calls to out of state numbers and or business' because we all knew NO ONE would pick up or answer after 5. It worked for years.

I think the real answer is far closer to home. The GF and the older boys know what happened and who was involved. I believe the CA connection is a red herring, just someone charging calls to a random phone number. Gather up her old friends and have a detective have a real go at them, 40 years later any fear of retribution or loyalty to a buddy will have dissipated.
Denise Daneault? Most likely her estranged heroin dealing ex husband.

1980 disappearance of 14-year-old Manchester girl remains unsolved

MANCHESTER, N.H. — A Manchester girl has not been seen or heard from since her disappearance in 1980.

NH Cold Case Unit
-- Last seen alive: April 26 or 27, 1980
-- Case Status: Missing person

Laureen Rahn, 14, was last seen alive the evening of April 26, 1980, or the early-morning hours of April 27, 1980.

Rahn's mother reported her missing at 3:45 a.m. April 27, 1980, police said.

Her mother told officers that she went out of town with a friend and her daughter asked to remain home. When the mother arrived home about 1:15 a.m., she found that the apartment's back door was open, the front door was unlocked and her daughter's friend was sleeping in her daughter's bed.

Rahn's friend told police that she and Rahn had been drinking. She said Rahn had been in bed, but left the bedroom and took a pillow and blanket to sleep on a couch in another room.

Police said there were no signs of a struggle in the apartment. They said Rahn might have left the apartment willingly with the intent to return shortly thereafter as she did not leave with any clothing, money or personal items.

Rahn has not been seen or heard from since.

Police said they have followed up on thousands of tips that took their investigation as far away as California and Canada. But despite that, the case remains unsolved.

The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children has released an updated age-progression photo of what Rahn would look like as of 2012 (at the age of 46 years old).

Can you help police solve this case? Submit a tip to the New Hampshire Cold Case Unit.

Is it me....the silence of the family through the years is deafening.....are her parents still alive, her friends who stayed at her house? After all these years the case story is so little detailed...how come? There must be more to this story....

Not just you...I've not followed her thread here on WBs as much as others, but I was surprised to see there wasn't much even here. It seems like there must be something unspoken (JMO). I just assumed it had to do with the suspected link to Rasmussen.

I'm not sure about her family. I intend to read through her thread after (who am I kidding?... During) the holidays - I'll see what, if anything, new I come up with.

Interesting that one of Rasmussen's aliases included the name Kimball, if I recall correctly. The street they are searching.
