Agreed. At least there will be some punishment for what went on in that house of horrors. So does this mean he DOES get a life sentence?

We will have to wait for the sentencing. Count 2 is the most serious, he is guilty of causing the death of Omaree but with reckless disregard instead of intentionally.

I'm confused about what I'm reading here; I think there's a typo. Was he NOT guilty of this charge? The word "foung" should be "not" in this sentence:

"After days of deliberation, a jury has found Stephen Casaus foung guilty of reckless child abuse resulting in death, in the death of Omaree Varela. Casaus was also found not guilty on some charges."

Then later in the article, it says:

"Child abuse resulting in death is the most serious charge Casaus was facing; it carries a mandatory life sentence."

Just saw this on the Twitter feed, I agree with her:

#OmareeVarela #CasausTrial Well chalk up a victory for the My Wife Beats Kids to Death While I'm On The Toilet What Can I Do defense. smh

Yes, count 2 was Guilty of child abuse with reckless regard resulting in death. I don't know what the maximum sentence is for that. Count 1 was more serious as it was intentionally child abuse resulting in death. Basically premeditated murder. He was found not guilty on Count 1.

Okay, they fixed that article. He was found guilty of reckless child abuse resulting in death. That was confusing.

I thought I heard the sentencing date is 11/10 at 10:00am MDT.

I hope he is sentenced to mandatory life. His previous record should be taken into consideration. Throw the book at him :please:

One to go!

Time to face the music, mommie dearest. :D

Witness talking about things the other kids told her about life in the house. Heartbreaking. N saw Omaree being beaten, blood on his head. N and S have PTSD and in are in therapy.
