Woman on CNN talking of trying to escape the concert and get to safety.

Asked one man if she and her friend could get in his truck, he said "no, go away". Went to Tropicana, where they refused to let any people in. Finally got someone to take them to the police station.

Well that's just sad. I guess maybe people were in a panic but I'd have let them in my car. Maybe that wouldn't be the safest thing to do but I couldn't turn someone away, who was fleeing a massacre, same as me.

I was looking into the rooms at Mandalay Bay and came by some odd shaped rooms called Vista Suites. I decided to search them in google and "Mandalay Bay Vista Suite floor plan" was one of the search options lol.. Kinda odd

These Suites look to be on the 31, 32 and 33 floor. Expensive looking rooms. In most descriptions I find on this suit they talk about the 360 view a lot

The FBI is investigating a certain property north of Las Vegas, having to do with this case.

Here is a picture of Mandalay Bay Hotel and the window from which the shooter fired at the crowd below.

“... not in our stars, but in ourselves...”. Shakespeare

It does look like it could be one of the Vista Suites

ETA: Those even look like the same curtains coming through the broken windows.

Wonder if this was long=simmering payback for his father being busted. In 1960, he would have been 7 years old.....weird. But Dad busted in Las Vegas and son gets revenge in Las Vegas over a half century later???? Maybe just a coincidence......JMO

Someone just asked the sheriff something like "How could this have happened?"

It happens.

At one conference last night, some idiot asked about the emotions of the people who are finding out their relatives are deceased. Sheriff just walked off---look on his face was "what an idiotic question".

According to this link from 1960 newspaper, the father was apprehended in Las Vegas

"A three-time bank robber, Patrick Benjamin Paddock, alias Benjamin Hoskins Paddock and Benjamin Hoskins Jr., 34, Tucson was indicted on three count* of robbing Phoenix branches of the Valley National Bank. HE IS accused of obtaining 811,210 from the W. Van Buren branch on Feb. 19, 1959; $9,285 from the same branch on Jtn. 29, 1960; and $4,620 from the 1845 E. McDowell branch last July 26. Paddock, a Tucson garbage disposal sales and service man, was arrested in Las Vegas, Nev., after his most recent Phoenix robbery."

No. The people standing stock upright clearly weren't. It looks like some were just standing around shocked trying to figure out what to do or what had happened. Others were trying to locate where it was coming from. And angry.

Those who were shielding others were crouched over them. Not standing upright pointing or flipping the bird. It was scary to see. I wanted
them to get down so badly.

I wonder if some people standing were trying to see where their family members/friends were. I'm sure people got separated, which is so scary.

CNN reporter saying housekeeping went into the room a couple of times over the weekend, but saw nothing unusual.

He checked in last Thursday, had 10 guns with him. He must have hidden them pretty well.

I had read somewhere, that this was originally an annual event and fundraiser, put on by Harvest Christian Fellowship. Couldn't possibly find it right now, just something I read in one of many articles from early on.

This is unrelated to the Harvest Christian Fellowship. It was a SiriusXM event.

I have noticed that a lot lately with reporters. They ask some really stupid questions.

Or maybe kept them in his car until he wanted them.

Whitman killed that many in 1 hour and :36 minutes, just imagine what this guy, Paddock, could have done in 1 hour and :36 minutes with his 10 automatics, or altered semis. He killed 58 and injured 200 in just a few minutes. Had the fire alarm not gone off in his room from the heat and smoke off of his firearm, LE might not have located him as quickly.
Lucky it was a hot August day and there wasn't that many people out.

I wonder if he was slowly transferring guns and ammo from a car up to his room? One or two bags at a time would not attract attention. Thinking sports type bags???

Wow im hearing on youtube the shooter had 2 rooms and was firing out of both. The cops think he may have feared the cops would shoot at him from the ground. I don't get that, but wow is all I can say.

Thank you, that explains it, unless they count the 2 rooms of the suite as 2 separate rooms. I could not figure out any layout in the suites that would include that busted window further to the medial of the building. Thus perhaps he had a (possibly "vista" 180 degree view, that's the same I stayed in) suite and a regular room adjacent to it with connection doors.

I found a pic I took through the lounge area/ den window and the bedroom window (second night view pic). It shows how far the fairgrounds are:

The story at the link I posted was from 24 Aug 1960, but it has similar info in the lede.

"Paddock was returned here from Las Vegas, NV where he was nabbed July 28 by FBI agents."

Same info about three bank robberies in Phoenix.

This happened when the shooter was a kid. He was born in '54 IIRC. Definitely could influence a kid.

Funny he grew up to be an accountant/auditor - jobs that keep track of money.

As easy as wheeling them into the hotel in a suitcase and leaving them in the closed suitcase until after housekeeping came in that morning. Once they've done stuff that morning he had all day to set stuff up.

I can't find any source that promoted this festival as a "Christian country music festival." But of course my Google feed is showing pages of news results, so this fact might be hidden

Link, please? TIA!!

I can't find anything saying that it is either.
