Most of these guns come apart and are in cases. I would imagine you could sneak 3 rifles in cases in 1 good sized duffle bag. I don't think getting the guns inside that much of a problem. Assembly in room, multiple days to get everything in.

I also heard on MSNBC that there is a gun show next weekend in Las Vegas, so it might not have been alarming if someone knew they were guns.

You must look at the whole picture- Here is a man that, by all accounts lived a productive, law abiding life. Something
happened for him to commit such a heinous crime. Otherwise we need to ask- how was he able to live under the radar all these years? I will be very interested in knowing if they study his brain for pathology.

We all have a desire to have answers because we are frantic to protect ourselves and loved ones form something like this. That it can happen anywhere to anyone with no warning and no way to prevent it is horrifying to us all.

But so many of these cowards fly under the radar, like the BTK killer or Ted Bundy or so many countless family annihilator types we have heard of like John List, or all the workplace murderers, or revenge killers, or terrorists like the San Bernardino cowards, just living a normal, quiet life, before committing a determined and planned massacre or murder of totally innocent people.

I want a reason. But there aren't always organic reasons like mental illness. I think most of these people are dealing with rage and a lack of empathy.

IMO, the victims and families will be suing MGM Resorts which owns the Mandalay bay and the festival grounds

I never understand this. How does devastation make people want to kill innocent strangers?

Sometimes people associate pain with 'other people'. So they want to hurt 'other people' in return as punishment, vengeance, retribution for the pain they've received.

They'll often associate the pain with a particular place, and when the break occurs, they'll go to that place and shoot/attack anyone who is in that place, regardless of whether those individuals are even the ones who caused the pain in the first place.

This guy had an association with the casino (prior visitor to it), which probably is the reason for the choice of place to do this. I don't think it had anything to do with the people at the music festival, I think it was the casino that drew him there. The people were just in the wrong place at the wrong time, but I don't see any evidence yet that he considered them all to be a certain type of people that he hated, it was just that there was a massive crowd of people at this place that had some meaning to him.

It is odd if it was a gambling-related grievance that he wouldn't go down to the gambling floor and shoot there, why shoot outside the window? That is part of the odd thing about it, in my mind. I would theorise that 1) it's harder to get down to the gambling floor with those guns. 2) he had turned his anger on people in general, so thousands of people outside the window enjoying themselves would be like a red flag to a bull.

Obviously there could be something that gives more insight into his reasoning that comes out over the next few days, but I think it's quite likely that we'll never know. As a generalization, men don't usually (compared to women) talk about what's going on inside their head. So unless the investigators can find something in his financial records, a large gambling loss or something, I don't think we're going to ever really know what was happening inside his head.

I don't see anything in the location that suggests anything political or religious, all I see is a hatred of humanity in general, and I think things like that are often a case of you end up with a straw breaking the camel's back, so the final straw might be relatively minor but it comes on the back of a lot of other incidents that have been building up in a person's head like steam in a pressure cooker.

Just wanted to say thanks for the thoughts and prayers. Our friend is in ICU she was shot in the head and they are unsure if she will pull through.

Hugs and prayers to you, your friend and her family. [emoji22]

Just my 2c. I don't think he had a gambling addiction. He is described as a professional gambler. He was also an accountant by trade. I'm just not buying the gambling angle.

No, I'm not buying the gambling angle either.

What for? You can't legislate for or insure against people doing things like this. A man stayed in a hotel, took loads of guns to his room, smashed the windows and shot at people. I don't see how the hotel can be accountable for that.

Sherriff announced during the presser going on right now that he had 18 weapons and explosives, later he confirmed it's Tannerite in the home they searched today and they confiscated several electronic devices too. We'll be hearing a lot more in coming days. Why would anyone legally need Tannerite?

Crazy as it sounds people are buying Tannerite for their baby gender reveal parties. [emoji15] check out YouTube for plenty of videos. A couple from my Community used it and had the bomb squad called on them. [emoji23]

Didnt Charles Whitman who shot from the college tower in Austin have a brain tumor?

Wow this has been a bad day

I'm not so sure that the FBI should dismiss this claim. It makes as much sense as anything out there at the moment. I personally think it was a Domestic Terrorist but am willing to consider other options. Think about it. He would have been the perfect pansy for Isis. No record, a vanilla accountant, could buy guns with no problem with background check. Nothing surprises me anymore.

Just curious, is that where his girlfriend is from?

I've read that she was Australian but has ties to the Philippines. She was in Tokyo today and has either been to the Philippines or is on her way there. From various articles on CNN and/or NBC.

I would like to know a detailed account of this shooters relationship with his father going back to his very young years. The father has been noted as a psychopath by the FBI. We know this.
And didn't the father have an association with gambling near Vegas way back when?!
Did the father bring his son (the shooter) to Vegas when he was young?
What's the past history between the two?

Not a lot of people are considered "psychopaths" so when I hear someone labeled that, it always catches my attention.

No disrespect but I have to disagree with you. I think he planned the mass shooting way ahead of time and knew the perfect time would be during this huge concert from the hotel advantage point that he obviously chose, ie., from the 32nd floor with full view of the concert crowd. He took the time and effort to chose the best room and transported up to 15 automatic rifles and ammunition to this room, took a hammer to break out two windows in order to better fire and murder as many people as possible. He had lined up the loaded rifles against the wall along the many windows in the two rooms in order to be able to rapid fire into the crowd.

Curious here, where did you see the hatred of people in general? I haven't seen any motive as of yet.
I do agree that this mass murder did not have anything to do with gambling at all. I'm waiting to see what the investigation finds out on the motive, right now it appears to be unknown.

Yes. I want a reason too.

I find it grounding to know the reason. I know it frustrates others here who focus on other things like justice or punishment or memorializing the victims. My focus and interest is almost always on wanting a reason.

I can't help but wonder if he sent her away purposefully to get her out of the way because of his demonic plans. Her ID was used to book the hotel room. IMO, just because she was out of the country when the shootings occurred doesn't mean she is not involved. Can't really understand why she was "cleared" so soon. IMO, she needs to be brought here ASAP to be questioned. I'm not buying the "she wasn't involved because she was out of the country" BS.
