amen thank you! Idk why but that Newsweek article really burnt my toast
That shouldn't feel any better. It doesn't sound like they investigated anything further but only went by what someone told them.

Nevada doesn’t recognize common law marriages. So if he doesn’t have a will, she will probably only have rights to any property that they jointly bought, if there is any. JMO and IANAL

I checked the Clark Co. property records and SP's home in Mesquite is in SP's name alone, as a single man.

Lazy and rushing at the same time. Not good for journalism.

Regarding motive, do we know how they knew so soon that he wasn't involved with Isis? Could they know that soon, or are they still investigating that possibility? I haven't had time to keep up, so TIA for any feedback. :)

I think the Sheriff indicated last night that that angle was still being investigated. The initial news reports that indicated there was no ISIS connection were just little more than guesses, I assume just based upon the fact that the shooter wasn't middle eastern or Muslim. It should have been reported that motive was unknown or that there were not any indications of ISIS, rather than just saying ISIS wasn't involved. Again, the rush to get a scoop takes precedence over facts and reason. The Newsweek retraction is another example. That is just sloppy journalism.

I guess it's possible that he won big gambling a long time ago and then invested in real estate? That would be the innocent explanation.......we'll see....... JMO

My bet is that it is the opposite. It is very difficult to win big on gambling.

Rather, I think he was simply an intelligent person with a moderately unpleasant personality. He drifted from government careers, including a position with the IRS to accounting to real estate investing.

He may have supplemented his own talents with tips gleaned by reviewing the taxes and account books of wealthy investors. As he became independently wealthy, he had more time to gamble and could afford to lose money when he did.

There are several people reporting that there was another shooting in Las Vegas. There is a facebook video of another casino where shots were fired, people running away in fear. No media reports about it tho.

It seems much more likely that he did this alone than because he was involved with Isis. What have you seen that gave you the impression that this is a possibility?

Nothing really, other than a post here yesterday of a tweet and I don't even remember what it said, something about him being involved with Isis, maybe it was a sham. Also, the AP reported that Isis doesn't usually claim responsibility for anything unless there are at least loose connections. I was just scanning through some articles online last night and early this morning, was too tired to save any links. I honestly don't know what to think, for all I know maybe nothing more than he was an angry, psycho maniac.

I don't know what the laws are in Nevada but she would be his next of kin and they were living in a commonlaw relationship. Should be interesting.

I don't believe Nevada recognizes common law marriages. So she would not be next of kin. She could perhaps be an heir if he had a will naming her as a beneficiary.

Wouldn't it be crazy if this guy turned out to be a serial killer? Maybe even EAR/ONS? I know the odds are against it, but...he'd be about the right age. And EAR/ONS was known to pose as realtor or interested in real estate.

I know it's crazy.

Not crazy. Pictures of him from high school are eerily similar to EAR/ONS!
A book was released September 28th.
They are really close to figuring out who he is.
IMO this is EXACTLY how EAR/ONS would go out,
A few things line up in my mind.
It's only a matter of time before DNA is complete and if it is him, CODIS will have a match!

He had fingerprints on file from job with the USPS so if any unsolved murders had fingerprints at the scene I would think he would have been arrested a long time ago. JMO

Who is EAR/ONS?

Here is where sone money came from.
"The NBC4 I-Team has learned Paddock owned property in Southern California, including a Hawthorne building he sold in 2004 for more than double what he bought it for — $3.2 million."

Thank you for the info Pam-Brewer Okay, so he had a transaction of of 3.2 million. Real estate commissions 6%, closing costs & title insurance, Long Term Capitals gains tax treatment 12% and 8 or 9% California tax (Calif does not care if it is Long or Short Term) so I'm calculating at least 30% of his profit gone in taxes and expenses. So now we are talking about $1 million in his pocket. Wonder if he done any 1031 exchanges or how he invested his profits.....even more interesting would be disclosure of his tax returns and how he held title. If any of it held in partnerships.... the partner can kiss that money good-bye.
Alright, "maybe" he made some good investments....I readily admit, my outlook on his financial is tainted by his actions on Oct. 1.

From CNN report (on tv, so I can't link....only write down quickly for now)
In the last year.
33 weapons
9 different vendors
5 different states

K, I'll play. She may not have known he planned to kill a mass of people but she may have known that his mental state was deteriorating and he owned a carp-load of weapons meant to kill people. She was overseas, one call to the police for a well being check could have changed history.

KMOUSE You are my new posting crush! :fireworks::fireworks: Thanks for stepping up.

Also per presser 59 dead. 58 being the victims and the last being the shooter. They also said they cannot confirm that 100 thousand transfer nor can they confirm the gf/wife coming here... which I find odd. Will she seek some sort of asylum? Why isn't she back het

Ps asked if there are international terror ties. The undersheriff said while they can't confirm they are not ruling anything out. This is an investigation that will take time and be ongoing

Sorry last edit. Those cameras being prepped tell us so much. This was sophisticated and completely considered prior to the act.

Thanks so much for this post! I was confused on the 58/59 thing. Okay for me it's now 58 [emoji35]. I agree with everything you say.
