The family of Jade Morris, said they last saw the little girl on Friday when left with Brenda Stokes, 50, a family friend who had volunteered to take the girl Christmas shopping.

But neither returned that night.

When the family heard that Stokes had been arrested in a vicious knife attack on a fellow card dealer on the casino floor of the Bellagio, they grew concerned for their daughter's well-being.
When Stokes was taken into custody on Friday and asked about where Jade would be, Stokes claimed she hadn't picked up the girl that afternoon.

This is very worrisome. Based on the above, it seems Brenda picked up Jade and then later confronted the coworker about the "betrayal"

I hope that Jade did not inadvertently reveal something to Brenda which set her off on a violent path.

I agree with other posters, this case does not look like it will end with a safe healthy Jade located :(

I can't stop crying either. Why didn't she kill the b@st@rd that cheated on her instead of harming this precious little girl?
 
Another angel missing. WTF people?? I too think maybe Jade had said something. I'm hoping she locked Jade inside somewhere, or far away. Doesn't look good though.

In court, Wilson says she is trying to get her private lawyer. The judge gave her until Friday to secure an attorney.

I really feel for the family. The dad calling out at her in court breaks my heart.

Sometimes these stupid legal rights get in the way! I would love to see a judge make her go without food or something, until she tells them where Jade is!
 
This woman is not credible. I would not take her word for anything!

She told police that she had not picked up Jade at all that day. We know that she did and now Jade is nowhere to be found.

It seems that the attack on her friend was pre-meditated. She knew that she couldn't just walk past casino security carrying a gun or a big knife, so she brought the easiest weapon to conceal; razor blades.

What she is saying about the doctor may not be truthful either. Maybe she really did see a doctor earlier in the week then made up the story about telling him she felt like hurting someone in order to deflect responsibility for the attack. She seems to be lucid enough to stall with the lawyer excuse. I suspect she is trying to work the system. If she was insane, she wouldn't be working so hard to cover her butt.

She knows where that baby is and LE should be able to do whatever it takes to make her talk. Jade could be injured somewhere and the time wasted on BS doing the right thing could make so much difference. Let Jade's mother or father at her!!

Oh my goodness.....she is just precious! Where are you lovely one????? I don't feel good about this, but I'm praying she is safe and will be home soon. :please:

It's not unusual for homicide detectives to work a missing person's case, it happens in some jurisdictions, from what I've read. In some places, they don't have a department for missing persons, so they combine it with the homicide division. I think a lot of that is because some places just don't have the funds to set up separate depts. for both.

She really is so beautiful. BS was cheated on by a man she should have been able to trust & betrayed by a woman she considered a friend - that sucks, I get that but why punish an innocent child? What did she hope to gain? She is in jail & Jade's father gets to continue on with a little more money each month.

That's true, but the wording makes me think they changed it from missing person to homicide investigation because of the dire circumstances.

I'm feeling very pessimistic, and trying to get my hope up for Jade, but I'm having a really hard time in this case. I suppose short of murder, if Brenda was looking for terrible revenge, as it seems to me, she could have, in Las Vegas, sold Jade into human trafficking, in which case Jade could be alive.

Crazy like a fox?!! She knows she messed up, she's not insane.

I hope she tells them where this beautiful little girl is, this is sounding more like she may have harmed her.

Could be. Maybe they have some indications that it could be homicide that they are not free to release to the public yet.

Oh, I do hope she hasn't been trafficked... she would be going through a living hell!!

They'll find out, I'm sure they're working hard to try to locate Jade. I want to keep my hopes up too, but statistics show us that most of the time, it doesn't end well.
 
Chiming in here to offer answers in anyone needs Vegas info. I live here and agree the story has not garnered much media attention. The last place they were seen is downtown in the late afternoon, about 15-20 minutes down the road from Jade's residence, I believe. The Bellagio is about 20 minutes down the Strip from the Outlet Mall (where Stokes and Jade must have been seen together on video, though I don't have confirmation) but there is a whole lotts places she could have offloaded Jade in between that time. Sex trafficking is huge here, selling girls is big business. I cannot imagine the possibilities but you should know, because Stokes attacked someone IN the casino, the news picked up the case. Without that, we would not be hearing nearly as much about it. Let me know if you need a local expert. I'll be busy over on the Dylan Redwine boards...that case won' let go of me.
 
Jade is such a beautiful child!

I feel sick. Brenda Stokes is one vindictive woman. I think she killed Jade to punish the father. If the child was still alive Brenda would probably tell LE where she left her, because the gig is up now.
