I feel so bad for her sister. She is so heartbroken! I feel for this family. Jade is such a sweet, beautiful girl, so full of life. I pray it turns out well but I can't see how. What is wrong with some people?!

I wish they wouldn't have removed the father and let him keep yelling at her in hopes of her saying something back.

One thing I don't get about the article is there is no picture of Jade...How are people supposed to find her or remember if they seen her if they do not put her picture or any description about her...

I can understand his frustration and I don't blame him one bit. However, judges can't put up with any kind of disturbances in the courtroom. Rules are rules, and they make no exceptions, no matter who it is. I doubt that she would have told him anything useful even if the judge had allowed him to stay and keep asking her. Yelling at her probably made her shut down even more.
What they need to do is get her in an interrogation room, keep her for about 8 hours, with nothing to eat, only a small bottle of water and then LE can yell at her, slap the table, stomp around, and even threaten to shake her till her teeth rattles. Maybe then, when she understands how much jail time she's getting, she will talk. As long as the cops don't actually touch her, they can yell at her all they want to.

Hello all. I've lurked on websleuths forever, but finally chiming in.
I also live in LV and this case is really bothering me. I think the reason the local media hadn't said anything before is because they didnt actually know about it. I think the police has just recently made it public. Now that it's out there, it's on all the news stations, in the newspapers, all over the media sites, etc.

Sad as it is to say, I don't think she was sold. BS said she wanted to hurt someone and if she had no problem slashing someone's face with a razor, she may have also been violent toward Jade.

I pray they find this sweet girl soon and that she's safe.

Welcome to WS! I also live in Las Vegas. I'm usually a news junkie, but didn't have the TV or computer on much over the holiday weekend. So I had heard about the incident at Bellagio but not about this missing child until just a couple days ago. I'm praying that she will be found safe, but as time goes by, my hope fades.

Molliemoo - welcome and thanks for joining!
:Welcome1:

This case is so sad...of course, they are all sad! Between the beautiful children killed in Conn, Dylan, now Jade and on and on....I have almost found it hard to breathe at times thinking about it esp during the Christmas season. Christmas Eve I do not think I ever went to sleep. While my precious grandchildren were snuggled in their warm beds, surrounded by love awaiting the arrival of Santa. I was scouring every thing I could on all the missing children and praying so hard for them and their parents. Their pain is palpable. While noone's life is perfect and sometimes even easy, I know as parents we want to shield the precious children in our lives from any pain we can. Cannot imagine what these parents are going through. The death of a child is awful but not knowing where your child is.....that has to be a level of pain off the chart.

Okay now for what I really wanted to say....
About 6 or 7 years ago my husband and I were staying at the Bellagio. A little girl was found in a dumpster, I believe on the strip. (that may not be right) Anyway, they did not know who she was and noone had reported her missing....That was probably when my passion for the missing started. They had still not determined who she was when we went home but I continued to follow the case when I returned home and within a few weeks they did find her parents who had killed her and disposed of her body....anyway I say all of that because I specifically remember reporters talking about how easy it is to dispose of a body in a dumpster on the strip because of how fast trash is moved in and out because of the huge amount of activity. Which now makes me think they did not find her on the strip. I looked for an article about it but cannot find it. Anyway, do any of the locals know if they have started any searches looking for a not alive Jade, God forbid or are they having searches looking for a live Jade? Just wondering!

"The one thing that she said that could help anything was, 'go check my apartment.'"

Have they done searches in and around her apartment?

My first two reactions:

My gosh... I would HOPE LE had already searched her apartment and surroundings with a fine tooth comb...!!!!

but my other reaction was.... If LE had NOT searched her apartment.... Then maybe there would be important clues to help them find Jade!

:please:

I hope someone is watching the dumpsters after reading Camdenres post. My heart hurts thinking of where she could be or if she is still alive. I'll continue praying for a miracle for this beautiful child.

i thought of the dumpsters when I first heard this story. We're a big city with twice weekly residential pickup and daily commerical pickup which would make the Bellagio dumpsters a good spot to look. However, cameras are EVERYWHERE. If, as previous posters mentioned, Stoked suggested they check her apt, my guess would be that those dumpsters are getting a looksee.

No media mentions of any public searches. Nothing local happening that i know of. Last big local search was for a teenager who was washed away in a flood a few months ago....locals here tend not to get out and beat the pavement for the missing...maybe because LV is big or maybe dangerous, particularly in some areas? i don't know where Stokes lives, it has not been publicized and with an apt, might be hard to sleuth. My guess is that our police (www.lvmpd.com) are doing good work behind the scenes.

They did find a baby in a Dumpster at Harrah's about 10 years ago

Sadly, it is not unusual to find dead children in Dumpsters around here. Seems it happens all the time. So, that would make me think they have searched Dumpsters, or at least considered that angle. Rebeccaeee is right, though, there are so many cameras, anyone dumping anything would be seen. And she's right that LVMPD is probably doing a lot behind the scenes they're not saying anything about.

Haven't heard of any searches for her. There is a group in town that does searches for people. They did one a few months ago for missing cab driver Keith Goldberg and one last month for missing man Robert Elsworth.

Unfortunately that was not the same one....this little girl was about 2 years old and they named her something.....oh I cannot remember....it was not Grace but something similar until the determined who she was. They had billboards up with a drawing of her in little pink footy pajamas that she was found in. That picture was burned into my brain.. I will try to find the article...now I am curious!

Was it this one?

Her parents were eventually convicted:

She did something to that beautiful girl. She already told her doctors earlier that day she needed to be admitted in fear she would harm someone. My heart is heavy. Give Jade's family some sort of peace knowing where their loved one is! Prayers she is found safe.

Vegas police seek information about missing girl

By KEN RITTER, AP

LAS VEGAS — Police in Las Vegas issued a new plea for information Thursday about a 10-year-old girl last seen with a casino card dealer just hours before the woman was accused of slashing a co-worker's face with razor blades at a Las Vegas Strip resort.

"We're hoping to reach somebody who may have information that will lead us to the whereabouts of this young girl," police Capt. Chris Jones said.

Police issued a missing persons alert late Tuesday about Jade Morris, who officials say was last seen by her family about 5 p.m. last Friday with Brenda Stokes...

The Washington Post has a MUCH more detailed article, IMHO, than we've seen so far -

http://www.washingtonpost.com/busin...44fa72-4fc0-11e2-835b-02f92c0daa43_story.html

in part -

"Stokes, 50, also uses the name Brenda Wilson. Police said she was a friend of the girl’s father, and was supposed to have taken the girl Christmas shopping at an outlet mall off Interstate 15 near downtown Las Vegas.

Jones, a supervisor in the department’s robbery-homicide division, said Stokes returned to another friend the red 2007 Saab sedan that she borrowed for the shopping trip."

good bit more at the link

Does it sound like maybe dad and the ' co worker ' were talking a bit and the gf got jealous ? Paranoid people are often falsely accusing others of trying to steal their man or something. So I wonder was her revenge to do something to dad by taking his baby and do something to the co worker?

Would be very interesting to know what the woman attacked with the knife had to say about any of it or what , if anything, was said to her before she started to cut her.
