LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The former NFL player charged in the death of a 5-year-old has filed a lawsuit against sheriff Joe Lombardo.

Cierre Wood says the $500,000 bail he is being held on is unconstitutional. He is being held at the county jail.

Wood filed handwritten paperwork this week. According to the lawsuit, Wood claims he has no means to post bail and requests it be lowered and he be given other options like house arrest.

*Status Check Hearing (@ 8:30am PT) – NV – La’Rayah Davis (5) (April 9, 2019, Las Vegas) - *Cierre Wood (28/now 30) arrested (4/10/19), charged (4/16/19), recharged (5/22/19) & re-indicted, charged & arraigned (7/2/19) with 1 count of 1st degree murder, 16 counts of 1st degree child abuse or neglect & 4 counts of child abuse/neglect. Plead not guilty. No bond. Changed to $500K (4/12/19).
Only for *Amy Taylor (25/now 27) arrested (4/10/19) & charged (6/14/19) with 1st degree child abuse & neglect. Recharged (4/16/19) & re-indicted, charged & arraigned (7/2/19) with 1 count of 1st degree murder, 14 counts of 1st degree child abuse/neglect & 6 counts of child abuse/neglect. Plead not guilty. $5K bond. Out on bond (4/12/19). Bond revoked (4/16/19). $350K bond.
Autopsy findings revealed La’Rayah had 20 newly broken ribs, internal bleeding, a lacerated liver & bruises to her heart, diaphragm & connective tissue.
Trial set to begin on 2/7/22 for both.
