I first heard of this case in a road trip group I’m in on FB. Initially was thinking either an accident, got lost, got stuck etc. Now I am leaning towards foul play with the info we have, sadly.

Although I agree the gas station would have been a good place for someone to enter and overtake their RV, wouldn’t that likely have been caught on camera? Or were they filling up at a pump not covered by cameras? Were they just seen inside the store? If that’s the case, then I could see someone spying this really nice rig, an elderly couple, and overtaking it. Maybe even gaining access under the guise of “Wow what a nice rig! Mind if I check it out?”

Another thought I had - since you can’t use the RR in it while moving, do you think one of them needed to use the bathroom while on the Highway so they pulled over and stopped either on the side of the Highway or off ramp to do so and someone encountered them at that point? (I am not an RVer so not sure if it’s typical to stop like that).

Look on the Facebook page run by family. They speak of it. And the updated flyer they just put out and that I just posted upthread has confirmed sighting there in Stagecoach.

Thank you so much! I found it. It does say confirmed video evidence (I am assuming that means of the people, just not the vehicles!) It also says their debit card was used for fuel and snacks. One of the issues with RV’s is you often do need to go inside to pay because the set dollar limit on the pump is less than the amount of fuel you need. It also says that this was the last time their debit card was used. Towing the vehicle they probably were getting very low gas mileage.

So after seeing the updated timeline, one thing stuck put to me: The first entry. "12:00 PM Departed MOUNT SHASTA KOA".
Because "Family and friends who are posting updates on social media write that Ronnie and Beverly Barker left Albany, Oregon on March 26 heading for Fallon, Nevada followed by a stop in Las Vegas before continuing on to Tucson on March 29 where they were expected to meet with friends."
Silver Alert issued for missing couple traveling through Nevada northeast of Las Vegas
When did Mt. Shasta get thrown in there? Was that a different plan than what the family/friends knew about?
Why didn't they stop over in Fallon on the 27th, if that was the plan?
They left Mt. Shasta at noon, it would make sense to stop after 5-6 hours in Fallon, but it doesn't make sense that they would be trying to make it to Las Vegas (11+ hours) having left so late in the day. They would be arriving at midnight!
It's 10 hours from Albany to Fallon. I can see why they would would want to stop after ~5 hours and stay in Mt. Shasta instead. But why the extremely late start? Was there a medical issue that first day/night? Trouble with the rig? It just seems like the plan was already off from the beginning, and maybe friends and family really didn't know exactly the route they were on, and some signals got crossed. Fatigue, confusion, miscommunication- and then ending up completely lost.
(Or maybe I am just misunderstanding or missing some information that would clear this up).
Moo.

Very good questions. Most older RVers like to leave by 10 and arrive by 3. It wouldn’t be abnormal to not get to your destination until 5ish. Leaving at noon is running late. In fact checkout time at the KOA would have been noon or before.

Another question:

Did they regularly use an RV guide site or book? At 6:30, 248 miles from their destinatinon in what is turning out to be a bleak and desolate drive, were they looking to spend the night somewhere in an RV park?

If so, was Esmerelda RV Park and Resort in Dyer on that list? Did they make any contact with it? Did they head there on Highway 6 or somehow get fouled up on 265 thinking it connected into Dyer?

Were there RV parks in Tonopah listed? Did they make any contact with them?

Sounds like ECSO has some footwork to do in the Dyer region, especially checking out the Esmerelda RV Park and if they had had any inquiries on that day.

Who knows. My head is spinning with all the conflicting reports of pings and sightings and times. I would guess updated versions would be more correct. Jmo
How is the family getting ping information? Can one obtain ping reports from the cell towers without the assistance of LE?

Also, I hope they had a firearm in the RV.

The last ping was obtained from their home computer by their daughter. Pinged to their Apple Watch. So more of a Find my watch deal.

Not sure how this works from home computer to watch 1000's of miles away. When I use my watch to ping my phone, which I misplace too many times to count, they have to be relatively close to each other. Perhaps it's more of a location record. JMO

It would be nice to know when they were expected to arrive in Vegas. Was it flexible? Did they keep in contact with the friends they were meeting up with there? Did these friends notify anyone when they did not show up at all and if not, why not?

My desktop iMac has the same "find my" app as my phone and watch. I'm guessing that is what their daughter used. I assume it is no longer pinging?

I see what you are saying could have been a Google mistake, but "another" in reference to what? This case or another one? Just interested not super relevant haha.
Several people have reported anecdotally that when they were driving this same route, Google maps sometimes took them onto poorly maintained service roads which were not good roads for any vehicle, much less a large rv towing a car. There has been speculation that they might be stuck off road somewhere.
Also in that area is a Nellis Air Force Range which is not the same as Nellis Air Force Base where they were planning to meet friends. Perhaps Google did an auto fill when they typed in Nellis and they did not realize it.

What public access is there to Nellis Air Force Range? Nearest RV park/store/services?

They had to know the estimated hours of travel to the RV park at the AFB. It's a lot further away than the Air Force Range.

They seem savvy to me. I really don't think they or their rig went astray unless it was by other's actions. JMO

I tend to agree with you. I was trying to answer @teachermamalady’s question about some different theories we had been throwing around as to what might have taken them off the main roads.

Reports from FB page say LE and others have been searching the area of Nivloc Road and "town" of Silver Peak and found nothing as of yet. It is a needle in a haystack, so to speak, but a large one and definitely one that has the chance of being located. Fingers crossed for some good luck today.

“It’s all flat. It’s all desert. So where did they go? Where did they go? They’re out in the middle of the desert. You can see for miles and a 32-foot RV, towing a car, literally vanishes into thin air. Where did they go?" Whaley asked, her eyes tearing up.

It’s a question no one can answer, not the couple’s family and not their friends, who they were supposed to meet in Tucson last Tuesday, but then never showed up and never called.

I'm not sure, but it seems Fallon was in the plan all along, for whatever reason.
Without knowing what other options for refueling were available, I would guess that it was the Stagecoach stop that was unplanned. Maybe they did fill up in Mt Shasta but went through fuel more quickly than they were comfortable with to finish the leg in Fallon. Moo.

BUMPING

Upthread there was a suggestion that the Kia UVO could help locate that vehicle.

Their 2020 Soul likely has "Kia Connect". We need to know if it was enabled.

https://owners.kia.com/us/en/about-uvo-link.html
My 2021 Kia Telluride has Kia Connect/UVO.

My understanding is that it can be activated remotely. I have had my vehicle for just over a year so the free subscription to the stolen vehicle recovery feature is not active. I haven’t yet paid for the subscription for this feature so it expired a couple weeks ago. But the email I received stated it would be reactivated by Kia customer service as soon as I paid for the subscription.

Someone upthread asked how they would have found their next RV spot. I don’t think people use books anymore. RVParky.com is a very popular website with RVers. Not only does it give RV campgrounds, it also has reviews and gas stations that are large enough to accommodate RV’s. When you are towing in a motorhome, you cannot backup. So finding a pull-thru gas station is a must. Also, by late afternoon, they absolutely would have called or registered online for their next spot. Somewhere there is a reservation out there that they didn’t make.
