Okay, just heard on local news station, dental records DO NOT MATCH UP. Not Susan Powell . I guess, that is the latest. Peace be with Susan Powell's family.
Too bad - but then again, no. I hope they can ID this poor woman soon. Surely her family is waiting for news as well.
And where, oh where, might Steven be???
Hopefully, but she could be one of the "lost" who fall victim to crime after separating from their family (or due to not even having one!)
That's why a lot of the truck stop murder victims (I-70 and I-40) were never ID'd.
Hopefully, sitting somewhere and laughing at everyone. But I doubt it.
Do we know with absolute certainty that his car was not removed from that spot after 12 noon on Sunday? Would Mr. Surveillance's camera be able to pick that up at night?
Did the airport have surveillance cameras also, and were they all checked?
Wonder if they took down license plate #'s from the search?
Just questions I was thinking of.
Those are very good questions.
If you scroll through Naegle's information in the timeline file, she says somebody looked through Mr. Security's cameras and these were the only ones that showed Steven, but it doesn't say whether he or someone else could have left without being recorded. The way the street is laid out, I think the car would have been detected; the gate prevents it from leaving the other way. But people could walk that way, it looks like.
The airport almost certainly has cameras, but they would be unlikely to search them without evidence that he was there. Just too much volume. Supposedly they did check that his name wasn't on any departing passenger lists, but if he had picked up a new ID, that wouldn't detect him.
The family (and other parties) were provided "stacks" of DVDs with security camera videos on them, and nothing was ever found that indicated the car had been moved or that anyone.
If you think about it, no one would have known when the car was parked there -- so obviously, lots of videos had to be scanned to find what we've seen.
And they'd have to look at lots, to see if he did walk back through the gate (ie, the car was parked, and no one ever walked towards the east).
One possibility: if you're putting in a new camera, it's often easier to create a new device for the new camera and let the old "CAM1" or whatever designation be empty. My only question remains: where's CAM1, CAM2, CAM4, CAM5, CAM6.
Lots of people have been to that area, looked around the neighborhood, and no one has (evidently) ever looked at his house, to see if there are other cameras pointed in other directions. Wouldn't it make sense that there would be?
I don't know what the deal about the airport would be. Why park there, when you can easily park at an airport.
If you have fake ID, there's no reason to hide the fact you parked a car at an airport.
I keep seeing a lot of promotions about the Investigation Discovery Channel show titled "Disappeared." I don't have cable so I haven't actually watched it. Have we tried to contact them about Steven's case? Do they take such requests?
Or will they come to the same conclusion as Henderson PD - that Steven just walked away....
I rarely go a day without thinking of Steven Koecher....where he is....what has happened.
Last week I was skimming through a Sky Mall magazine on a Delta flight. There it was....
page 138....a surveillance system...4 cameras with night vision...15" screen divided into four and can record for over 3 years with the 500GB hard drive.
All of a sudden I was back on EL.
Laytonian always wants to know about the other cameras. After looking around the sites that Google listed, there are 4 cameras, 8 cameras, 16 cameras and if you are a casino, a lot more....
What really threw me was that one of these smallish systems can record
for over 3 years...!!! WOW....if there is anything going on on that corner
of SCA, Mr. S. should have something to talk about. And I would think he
would have shared whatever with the Henderson PD.

Thank you. These are pretty much out-of-the-box systems, so you just hang the cameras, connect the wires, load the software, and off you go.
And yeah...they seem to be even numbers.
Those are pretty nice cameras, too.
The only reason I can think of, where there'd be two cameras with oddly-spaced numbers, is if someone happened to set it all up many years ago, and they just installed part of the system, when they moved.
It's just never made sense to me. One of these days, I'm going to go look.
Sometimes the people pointing at others.....
So it seems logical, based on Lato's research, that there would (theoretically) be 6 more cameras on that house. Hmmmm. It's not that big of a house! And the day I was there, there was a bunch of nothin going on in that neighborhood. I'd really have to say 8 cams would be overkill in that particular location, but that's just me. I do believe there was a camera at the back of the house, which probably could have picked up Steven actually parking his car, depending on what it's set to "see" and if it clears the wall around the backyard.
I'm going to try to get back out there this weekend and will get a better look.
Hi Fairy1.....want to say that reading a magazine is not really research...but the thing that did provide more information than I had before was the statement that the 4 camera system could record for over 3 years. That's a
lot of material.....maybe lots of blank space but I think that man has those
cameras there for a reason. Thank you for your on the scene reporting...

That's actually an interesting question -- why does the guy have all that security in a neighborhood that bills itself as one of the safest anywhere?
I remember reading he's an "ex Federal Marshall"....so he could have just been used to that kind of thing, and even brought it all home from work.
It could have been donated to the neighborhood, by the govt, in some kind of goodwill gesture.
But you're right. I've been watching the crime statistics for that area for months, and very little happens....mostly along the main streets and commercial areas.

(Yep, I'm still here!) I work for the federal government, and just wanted to say that if he brought it home from work -- he stole it! (which I doubt) Nor could the government just give it it him. All outdated/surplus equipment owned by the feds must be auctioned off. Big rules about that. Doesn't rule out that he picked it up at auction, though!
My point is, without speculating on his motivation, I think his choice to outfit the exterior of his home with that level of surveillance is very deliberate.
