I didn't bring it up! And I have never seen where the body in the burned car at I-15 and Sloan was ever ID'd. Yet it was "breaking news" when we first heard about it and discussed it here. I've never heard another peep about it.

For those who believe Steven was the victim of a crime, we need to look at other victims, locally. Over the past year, I don't believe we've seen anything that would suggest a pattern. That's one of the reasons I don't believe Steven was the victim of a crime.

The CA girl that was found here was located fairly close to the April search site for Steven. Again, I have never heard another word about it.

I know you didn't bring it up. I saw it mentioned in a post that was quoted.

ALSO, I never heard that the burned body at Sloan & I-15 was female; it's like everything went quiet. Maybe that was family choice.

Sloan & I-15 is 13 miles (driving) from where Steven's car was parked ... and about 6 miles from the April search area.
I think we agree that they're both "way out there".

If anything, I'd say the burned remains in the car at Sloan &I-15 would more likely be linked to Celeste Flores-Narvaez, the missing dancer. Look at the reported linkage in their education, and what they ended up doing. And like you say.......

I'm old and have been out of the Vegas "scene" for years, but I suppose there's a lot going on around here that we never hear about.

Still, I find it hard to believe that Steven Koecher fell prey to a murderer that lured him to Vegas with promises of.......???? That is not to say it doesn't happen. But to guys like Steven??? I just can't imagine.

Thanks for your info and input Fairy, I think SK "walked away" too primarily, but did notice the location and that she had only been in LV a very short time. No reason given as to why. I did notice they had a like of volleyball and basketball.

Change of topic: Does anyone know AN's age? If it is AN in the above video, there would be almost a decade difference in age. Just thoughts....

I can't see anyone luring anyone to their home or anywhere where they were known, if they're doing something nefarious.

Meet somewhere else.

Me neither! But I don't see any evidence of anything nefarious that would have to do with Steven. Do you?

I think it's entirely possible he was involved in something sketchy, by choice or being led into it.

Still, it's an odd coincidence that she was only planning on being in Vegas for a week, and for work.

Why? What have we ever seen to truly lead us to believe that?

No, nothing that definite. But like so many other things about Steven, there's nothing definite in the other direction, either.

Why? What have we ever seen to truly lead us to believe that?

The lack of sainthood in the human condition.

If he's purposely walked away, it's a malicious act against his family.
If he's mentally ill, someone would have encountered him by now. Really.
He had money, but didn't pay his bills.
He may have refused money from his family, but he leaned on them in other ways (phone, for instance).
If he's a crime victim, he walked into something without using judgment -- and skipped his highest duty (church) to do so.

What kind of legitimate (legal) work do you do in Vegas, "for a week"?
That ends in you dead in a car, burned? **

The Las Vegas area has one of the country's highest unemployment rates.

**A similar (burned, female) body was found last week, near Lake Mead.
Kingman Wash, near where the human jaw was found a month before -- but not connected to that body part.

She could have been attending a training seminar and run into someone while enjoying the casinos or clubs, etc.

One that comes to mind is trade shows.

They already know what she was doing there.

"Carson was working and visiting friends in the area although she resided permanently in West Covina, he said.
She was expected to be in the area for about a week, Roberts said.
Police declined to release information about Carson's employment in Las Vegas."

I guess one can assume that if she were engaged in legitimate employment, they might have released that information -- but not necessarily.

I'm thinking the employment's linked to the death.
LV has a pretty wide-open advertising "opportunity" for the massage trade, KWIM?

That sort of thing certainly seems to be the most likely possibility. But that doesn't make it a certainty. A woman wound up burned to death in her car not far from here (up in NH) a few months ago and it was a total accident. Apparently the catalytic converter caused the leaves under her car to catch fire.

Yes, but this one (Carson) was a mile up a dirt road. (We did a street view about the time the remains were found, and it looked like a cement plant area.) Also, she had "significant injuries that caused her death".

Two women's bodies, found burned, in less than a month. Opposite ends of the Vegas area. One in a car, one not. Plus the missing dancer (car found separately), and the UID at the Elburz exit on I-80.
I think we need an SK (serial killer, not Steven Koecher) thread on this one, to sort it out.

Okay, I am confused. Sloan, NV is several miles south of Vegas. THAT is where I understood the body in the burned car to be found. Yet the reports on Michele Carson are saying her remains were found at LV Blvd & St. Rose Pkwy - that's not Sloan. I never saw any mention of her remains being burned or a burned car with regard to Michele.

What am I missing here?

You're catching all the bad reporting ;)
All reports I've seen, mention that the car and/or body were burned.

"She was discovered by a motorist at 12:05 p.m. in a burned car a mile off Interstate 15 near Sloan Road exit, Lt. Lewis Roberts of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said."
Source: Pasadena Star News.

Earlier report:
"The initial call came in at around 12:10pm and responders discovered the body about a mile off of the I-15 southbound highway. The body was found inside a car and had been set on fire."
