HARRISONBURG —Investigators identified the bones found recently in Catahoula Parish, solving one mystery but unraveling an even longer string of questions.

Forensic experts confirmed Tuesday that the remains are those of Las Vegas resident Lexis Kaye Roberts, who was 12.

But why and how Roberts ended up 1,558 miles from home in a heavily wooded portion of rural Louisiana is still unknown.

The girl was last seen traveling with her mother, Suellen Roberts, and a man, Thomas Sanders, who was not a relative near Arizona National Forest.
According to helpfindmychild.com and news reports from KTNV in Arizona, Sanders had a criminal record.

According to KTNV story published on Sept. 15, Suellen Roberts’ mother, Mary Woodburn, belives foul play is involved.

“It’s not like my daughter just to turn cold and leave and not call me in so many days,” she said. “I think maybe (Sanders) did something to my daughter and now my granddaughter.”

Roberts was identified through dental records by the LSU Forensic Anthropology and Computer Enhancement Services Lab.

Where is Thomas Sanders?! LE needs to get this story on AMW and just like the rest of you said ... Additional photo's. Could it be there are none other than his booking photo? Interesting that he shows up with Amite, LA as a prior addy and that is where Lexis body was found. Was LE searching or looking for him in his old stomping grounds? I too wonder if LE let Lexis down?

ETA: I think Suellen's death preceded Lexi's and her remains are somewhere in AZ. I'm sure once she knew his motive for establishing a relationship was to gain access to Lexis, she fought him tooth and nail.

Kelly said Lexis Roberts' remains were taken to LSU's FACES lab, where the program's director, Dr. Mary Manhein, discovered something.

"She remembered seeing a missing girl reported on the Internet," Kelly said. He said Las Vegas police were contacted and investigators spoke with a Las Vegas area dentist, who confirmed the dental records belonged to a patient of his.

Kelly said because of the positive identification, the investigation has surged forward.

"This is a tremendous step forward," Kelly said. "We would have trouble proceeding with the case without (the ID)."

I wondered how they connected the dots. Authorities are still not saying what connections Sanders has to the area?

No wonder about Tom knew the area for dumping Lexi. I think Suellen isn't alive anymore. He tricked them into their death by false "lover" to Suellen. It's horrible way from him with intentions.

Thank you Knox, I don't think this is his first rodeo. How many other women & children have been his victims? and does he already have his next victims in his sight? jmo, this should be all over national news, the way he moves around.

Makes you want to puke, doesn't it? Single Moms beware, run a background check on anyone you are going to have near your children. This sounds extreme, but how many times do we see this exact story play out.

I am just mad that the media and LE in Las Vegas paid more attention to a celebrity doing drugs in her limo than they did looking for this mother and daughter. LE closed the missing persons report on September 16th.
