I have added to the alpha list

There is a Namus profile on this person
https://www.findthemissing.org/en/cases/19678/0/

***Note I have been correcting the age on our list based upon a death happening approx 1990-1991. So this person turned from 17 in 1970 to 37ish in 1990

Hmm. Are we supposed to put in an approx "age at death"? We don't really know how long the remains had been there, do we? I've just been putting in the ages supplied by the database (age when missing/date of birth). Am I throwing a wrench in things?

ETA: Oh no, forget that. Just remembered they'd said dead for 4 to 14 months. Sorry!

I'm not going to be around tomorrow. Real life intervenes. If you guys could drop me a line about where I should start looking at candidates the day after, that would be great.

We'll miss you, carbuff; have a good break.

Clements and Calvin are both ruled out based on dentals.

What did you find out from Mark Pack Works this morning? Did the t-shirt come from their company? Did you get the name of the artist from them or did you see it was found here?

Its good to see we have made the news, hopefully someone recognize's the t-shirt!

My search for any info on the company has met with negative results. If anyone has good contact info, I'll take it. The listed phone number is no longer in service.

I will work on that. I wonder if they were bought out by another company. Since we have the name of the artist, maybe you can go a different route to find out possible places he could have gotten the shirt.

ETA: I found a post about Mark Pack Works possibly going out of business in 2004. I have not found anything current. Nothing came up with a check on the Oakland Better Business Bureau site.

The rest of 1980-1982 (Eta, damn, I forgot to add the tag lines. Argh...not happening tonight though)

My search for any info on the company has met with negative results. If anyone has good contact info, I'll take it. The listed phone number is no longer in service.

Links upthread indicate they were in business as early as 1981 (Backpacking ads) and a Chicago Tribune article indicates they were in business as late as 1993:

Mark Pack was the head of the company. Not sure when the company ceased production, but since the company logo is rare, it may have sold to another company.

I'm assuming you got the contact info for the artist's (Jim Kitson's) wife Sue Laing from the memorial links on earlier posts in here; let us know if you need us to dig those up again. His wife may have info on who Jim might have sold the tee shirt design to, or which local stores may have supplied it. One of the memorials has a comment on it by a friend who "colated" and helped Jim peddle his "calendars" in the 1970s to Bay area bookstores; maybe Jim's wife would remember local stores his designs ended up in back then?

ETA: Sue & Jim were newlyweds in the late 70s (married 16 Sep 1978, El Dorado, CA). By 1980 they were living in San Francisco, CA. (Per ancestry.com link posted upthread: http://trees.ancestry.com/tree/1770750/person/-1877379395/facts)

They were just R/O by Marty based on dentals. (p1345)

Thanks! I got info with the R/O and MMarty's post number confirmation on the alpha list.
I will keep adding them to the list and note the R/O - as the list will be still be valuable to posters for a reference to eliminate duplicates too.

Rather than clog up the thread with me posting the submission number - I will just thank the post with the submission on it from here on out (like I have been doing with the Detectives posts).

If you all haven't seen the MSM news coverage with our very own LEO Detective MMarty - check out the link on post #1330!

I initially just read the report, but I just had a chance to go back and watch the video. I didn't realize (until seeing the video) that MMarty credited WS'rs with finding the tee shirt design! We're just gettin' down with our bad selves here!

ETA: here is the link

ETAA: We are at 194 on our missing persons submissions in just over one week!
