What is this? I need a layman's explanation, please!
Virginia Giuffresays Maxwell recruited her to be Epstein’s sex slave when she was just 16. And they both raped her. She’s the one you see in pics with Prince Andrew.
And the girl Dershowitz says never gave him a massage
They sued each other settlement was made to VG
Giuffre and Miami newspapers sued to get records unsealed (over 2,000pages)
Judge ruled in her favor.Maxwell is suing to keep them sealed
This has been going on for several years

Brainstorming idea, speculation only, not fact:

I wonder if the donations JE gave to schools like Harvard, etc. were used to get children of his friends admitted to those schools? It would be a way to get the kids into the schools without the parent having to do the dirty work of making the donation/bribe themselves.

Then, the families would be indebted to JE for that favor and the schools would be happy with the money. JE ends up looking like a good guy to everyone, imo, but his favors come with strings - recipients must return favors (invest money with him, for example) and certainly not make accusations about anything JE does with the girls and money.

Speculation only.

Any way we can get a recap / highlights of article-sign in needed to read. TIA
These new forthcoming documents stem from a 2015 lawsuit filed by an alleged victim of Epstein, Virginia Giuffre, against Epstein’s former girlfriend and alleged recruiter, British socialite Ghislaine Maxwell. The lawsuit, which was settled in 2017 on the eve of trial, accused Maxwell of making defamatory statements about Giuffre. In the original complaint, Giuffre accused Epstein of sexually abusing her from 1999 to 2002, with Maxwell’s “assistance and participation,” at numerous locations including Epstein’s mansions in New York City and Palm Beach, Florida.

I have a daughter who attends school at Interlochen Arts Academy and another who graduated from there last year. Got the email from the school president today, which said essentially the same thing as the vice-president quoted in the article, that he had no unsupervised access to students while on campus. The email said he was on campus for a week in August of 2000. His name is no longer on the cabin built with his donations according to the email, and he has been removed from all donation references, as the article says.

The cabins on campus are usually used for the summer camp.

I hope the school is telling the truth! Student names allegedly being in his black book according to this article does not sound good!

I wouldn't trust the college to be upfront and honest they are CYA mode. They don't want lawsuits.

Interlochen is actually a high school (boarding school), but you are right about potential lawsuits. There are students and camp attendees there who are underage, hence the concern about Epstein being a donor and on campus more than once.

While I agree any institutions who dealt with this creep are in CYA mode, I would trust the letter written by this school. Why? They know they that could be in serious trouble if they are not honest. They could lose the moneymaker that is the camp and the school if it turns out they were in more CYA mode than protecting students mode. I wouldn't be surprised if Interlochen sends out another letter in the near future with the name and number of an outside investigation team like St Ann's did and many other independent, boarding and day schools have done (Report Alleges Sexual Misconduct at Saint Ann’s, Prestigious Brooklyn Private School and a treasure trove here New Choate Allegations Not The Only Sex Abuse Cases Haunting Private Schools In Connecticut. Here's an Update.). Unlike colleges where the victims would be over 18, high schools, boarding schools and sleep-away camps have children as young as 12 or 13 to protect. Investigations are usually announced to the community with a link to which law firm or investigative services are being used.

In fact, many schools hire investigative services for pre-emptive reviews and commit to bi-annual reviews to head off these kinds of allegations. This firm is hired by many schools on the east coast and across the country: "After the school learned of the new allegations against both men in 2016, administrators notified police and hired New York-based firm T&M Protection Resources to conduct an external investigation." And, because it is a high school and camp, they won't do a CYA thing because if they cover up abuse the administrators can go to jail because the students are under 18. When we look at independent schools (or, even public schools) who "didn't investigate thoroughly", decided not to report, or soft balled the actions of teachers and administrators or, even over 18 year old students, the consequences are actually meted out as in this case Police charge NFA campus safety director, no others in student sexual relations investigation and Suffield Police Arrest 2 Accused of Failing to Report Abuse and Two Texas School Principals Arrested for Failure to Report Child Abuse.

BTW, I am sorry that you and your daughter are experiencing these kinds of issues (even if in the past) as it is so unsettling.

No double jeopardy.

"If the reports of what Epstein will be charged with are accurate, there appear to be several ways that federal prosecutors are not running afoul of the U.S. Constitution by targeting Epstein with the same charges on the same facts for a second time. One law-enforcement source familiar with the case emphasized to the New York Post that the new indictment covers additional crimes not addressed in the earlier case, like Epstein bringing several victims across state lines between Florida and New York, as well as crimes he committed after the ones that led to his first arrest."

The Washington Post similarly reported on Sunday that

"A person familiar with the matter said prosecutors do not have significant double jeopardy concerns or concerns about Epstein’s previous plea, meaning the charges probably involve new victims or new alleged wrongdoing."

Leslie Wexner speaks out on Epstein

Wexner tells employees he was never aware of Epstein's alleged crimes

“I would never have guessed that a person I employed more than a decade ago could have caused such pain to so many people. My heart goes out to each and every person who has been hurt,” Wexner said in an email to employees obtained by The Dispatch.

“I severed all ties with Mr. Epstein nearly 12 years ago. I would not have continued to work with any individual capable of such egregious, sickening behavior as has been reported about him. As you can imagine, this past week I have searched my soul ... reflected ... and regretted that my path ever crossed his.”

So Wexner finally speaks. And he is only shocked now? Was he on the moon during the 2008 public Epstein outing? Hard to believe someone THIS Close to Epstein for SO LONG had absolutely no clue of an epstein dark side. But what's a big shot gonna do? gonna say?
Self Preservation and Bottom Line baby.

Epstein accuser lawyer Brad Edwards drops bombshell saying Epstein, during his 13 month jail sentence in which he was allowed to spend 12 hours a day in his private office adjacent to his attorney, had office visitors and engaged in sexual abuse while in custody.
*Edwards says he doesn’t know if officer visitors were minors but we do know they were under the age of 21. He says the visits weren’t business arrangements...they were for improper sexual contact.
*Edwards adds that Epstein had multiple office visitors. He doesn’t know of any under age 18. The women believed they were at Epstein’s office for non-sexual reasons but surprisingly to them the situation turned sexual.
