Some new details in this recent Miami Herald article on JE’s time at Dalton. Worth a read!

OT a bit: Can I just say that in these days of everyone (all sides, not just one) screaming about "fake news," that we are seeing exceptional journalism exposing crimes. I am not making a political comment, but acknowledging a job well done. I'm appreciative for the reminder at how valuable journalism is.

WHAT?!

I questioned whether the sentencing deal could get more absurd....and it just did.

Really disappointing to realize how many people went along with this agreement.

There's a word that escapes me... but it's like circular logic or something, the way all of this stuff connects... or a house of cards? JMO.

"However, the Florida Science Foundation played another role in the Epstein saga. Once Epstein received probation, a Palm Beach County judge allowed him to serve out his community service requirements “at his own non-profit, the Florida Science Foundation,” according to former WPTV reports."

100% agreed! It is awesome to see journalism at it's finest... and also to have new articles that are not just regurgitations of others' reports as well.

Random thought...

Leon Black is with MoMA (Museum of Modern Art). Just wondering if his interest in art is because the high-end art market seems like a way to launder money. The commodities have a market value that is determined by whatever amount someone will pay for it. I'm not a financial wizard, but that kind of transaction seems like a place to hide flows of money, imo.

I'm willing to bet MoMA dumps this guy soon. The connection to JE has big potential to wreck the museum's reputation. The museum is currently undergoing a huge renovation project, less than 20 years after another huge renovation project. People might start questioning the finances of that as well, among other things such as the wisdom of having Black on board. My opinion only.

Thinking aloud. JMO

Yes, the MoMA thing is huge, IMO. Plus, Leon Black co-founded Apollo Management Group, which I believe has been mentioned as possible shady connection to Epstein money layers.

Leon Black bought one of the four versions of Edward Much's "The Scream" for $199.9 million, FYI. It then went on view at the MoMA. So his ties there are not loose.

ETA: T(adding links and note) The Leon Black- MoMa connection is mentioned in the article I linked earlier so it's not a random thought at all... just wanted to make it clear we're still on topic with the MoMa thing.

Exceptional journalism does still exist, but unfortunately the journalists are too often labeled “conspiracy theorists.” And make no mistake, this Epstein case is a conspiracy theory - which does not make it any less valid. This one’s got legs.

Ohio State reviewing donations from Jeffrey Epstein

Ohio State University announced on Tuesday that it is reviewing donations it received from Jeffrey Epstein and an affiliated foundation and “will take additional action as appropriate.”

The CUOQ Foundation, Epstein’s private foundation, anonymously donated $2.5 million to Ohio State in May 2007, the university said in a written statement. That donation was a partial fulfillment of a $5 million pledge made in 2005 to support the Woody Hayes Athletic Center.

The Leslie H. Wexner Charitable Fund made an additional $2.5 million gift in 2007, and together, the two gifts were applied to the naming of the Les Wexner Football Complex, the university said.

The donation and and the naming of the football complex center was a 70th birthday surprise to the billionaire businessman from his wife, Abigail Wexner, The Dispatch reported at the time.

I’m glad El Chapo said MCC is inhumane since Epstein is 3 cells down from him

This is also the same place the alleged Vault 7 leaker /alleged CP possession guy is being held - he's the one who also did that handwritten letter to the judge about how inhuame he finds the condition, FYI. Also says he is owed 50 billion. (Note - his case is also being handled by the SDNY)

Quite a crew in that place, IMO.

‘Poor, smart and desperate to be rich’: How Epstein went from teaching to Wall Street' by Linda Roberston and Aaron Brezel

https://www.miamiherald.com/news/state/florida/article232678997.html

Interesting tidbits and quotes from former students that I hadn't seen in the other articles. If this was already posted- my apologies!

note: edited to include title of article /authors and more context
Aha! The link you posted contains info that has been missing about how JE made the leap from teaching at Dalton to his next job on Wall Street, bbm.

"Epstein launched his financier career during a parent-teacher conference at Dalton in 1976 when he dazzled a student’s father with his intelligence. Epstein confided that he wasn’t cut out to be a teacher. He envisioned himself on Wall Street.

'This parent was so wowed by the conversation he told my father, "You’ve got to hire this guy,"' recalled Lynne Koeppel, daughter of the late Alan “Ace” Greenberg, an executive at Bear Stearns investment bank."

https://www.miamiherald.com/news/state/florida/article232678997.html

JE knew at an early age (by his 20s) how to network and cultivate people who could benefit him.

Yes! Thanks for taking the time to do the cut and paste - I had wanted to do that but was rushing- I should have mentioned it more specifically! Thank you!!!!

The article has some good new details -not sure if everyone realizes it but the mansion is near Dalton...
  • "By the time he was 45, Epstein was living 18 blocks from Dalton in a nine-story mansion now worth $77 million, one of several posh homes where investigators say he molested dozens upon dozens of young girls....."
Just for a moment of levity, I found this kind of amusing:
  • "Joshua Persky, who graduated in 1977, had Epstein for physics. “I thought he was okay,” Persky said. “Once in a while, he could not complete a complex homework problem, which I didn’t mind either.”

Prosecutors respond to Jeffrey Epstein’s excuse for why he had an Austrian passport. Epstein said he never used it, but it had “numerous ingress and egress stamps,” including for France, Spain, the UK, and Saudi Arabia in the 80s.
More specifically, Epstein’s attorneys hedged that the government had no evidence their client used the passport. The government just responded, in sum and substance, “Uh, yeah we do.”

No one who gets rich is a "nice" guy. Or gal. I truly believe that. There is a book about "Snakes in Suits", about the business world, and dealing with "criminals" who get ahead by using criminal thinking behavior and activity. The charming, slick used car salesman...same as Epstein. Psychopaths...

Why and how is this info being told outside court proceedings. Tell me not to be concerned!

Jmo

Well, the 80's were a different time, back then, if you went to Israel for business, and Egypt or Saudi Arabia, they wouldn't let you in if they saw the stamp for Israel.

It was common for business people to have separate passports. Shady...
