Interesting about the freight elevator operator. Don't elevators usually have security cameras?

NYPD takes search for missing mom to Pa. landfill

Among those questioned about her disappearance are a DOT worker who had worked in the same building and appeared to be following her and a freight elevator operator with an arrest record, police sources said.

The DOT worker is not a suspect, sources said, but detectives are not so sure about the elevator operator, as her family has told them he was smitten with her.

I know the freight elevator in our building doesn't have a camera in it.

How sad. The Dominican community in Inwood is very close-knit and this will hit them hard. Inwood has the highest population of Dominican's anywhere except Dominican Republic and it is contained in a pretty small area. I walk by her street when I get off the train. This one kinda hits home. I probably rode the train with her or passed her on the street and didn't even know it.

A detective with New York City Police said there is no evidence that Rodriguez was killed but a thorough search of the building where she worked turned up no results.

And at this time it is within the scope of their search to look for a body.

Dunmore police were also at the landfill with the New York City officers. They said the landfill is cooperating with the investigation

The sister of champion bodybuilder Victor Martinez has mysteriously vanished while working the night shift as a cleaning woman in a Manhattan skyscraper near the World Trade Center reconstruction site.

Police were still searching basement floors of the skyscraper near the World Trade Center site on Friday. They also planned to return Saturday and do a third sweep of the entire building using search dogs.

New York Police Department detectives also had been dispatched to Keystone Sanitary Landfill in Dunmore, Pa. — the dump used by the building's garbage collector — to look for a body.

Security in the building is typical for the financial district. Employees need identification cards to enter. Security cameras cover every entrance and many public areas. Every visitor is photographed before they are allowed up from the lobby.

Officials at the company that operates the building, Stellar Management, declined to comment.

Built in 1909, the skyscraper has more than 400,000 square feet of interior space and rises 26 stories. Besides Studio Daniel Libeskind, the building's tenants include the architectural firm NBBJ, several law firms and, until recently, a division of the city's transportation department.

Police believe that a cleaning woman who vanished from a Manhattan high-rise may be dead, that her body was dumped in the trash and that she could turn up in a Pennsylvania landfill.

"We have reason to fear the worst," New York City Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said.

A search of the high-security building has failed to turn up any witnesses or clear evidence of a crime. But police say they suspect foul play because Eridania Rodriguez left behind her purse and other personal belongings and had not contacted loved ones since her disappearance midway through her shift Tuesday evening.

New York Police Department detectives also had been dispatched to Keystone Sanitary Landfill in Dunmore, Pa. — the dump used by the building's garbage collector — to look for a body.

Rodriguez, 46, was last seen around 7 p.m., when security cameras recorded her pushing a cleaning cart into an elevator. There was no footage of her leaving the building, police said.

Landfill searches are about as bad as it gets. Landfill searches are dangerous and costly. I have to think that something is leading LE in that direction.

New York City police detectives combed through a landfill in Pennsylvania on Friday as their search continued for a 46-year-old woman who vanished from work this week, and the police commissioner, Raymond W. Kelly, said, “We fear the worst.”

This is from The New York Post -- not sure of credibility.

"A mother of three who vanished from a lower Manhattan office building called a co-worker to say she had been mysteriously ordered off her normal rounds to work on a different floor. . .

"She said she wasn't cleaning the fifth floor because someone told her to go to the eighth instead," Quezada told The Post. . ."

Sounds like maybe she was lured there doesn't it?

Body found

http://www.nypost.com/seven/07112009/news/regionalnews/manhattan/missing_moms_body_found_178748.htm

A body believed to be the woman who mysteriously disappeared from a lower Manhattan office building this week was found by cops this morning, sources told The Post.
Police found the body in a 12th floor air-conditioning vent at 2 Rector St., where mom of three Edriana Rodriguez, 46, was last seen Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
She was preparing to clean bathrooms on the fifth floor as usual when she received odd instructions from an unknown man telling her to work on the eighth floor instead.
The Inwood resident was not heard from again.
Coworkers found her mop, cart and hair clip on the eighth floor, but she was nowhere.
Police have not made any arrests, although they questioned a freight-elevator operator who suspiciously left work early that night

So no one was seen leaving the building with a suspicious item? Was this old employee seen on video? Did they bring in search dogs?
After hearing about her being in the AC vent, it makes me wonder about the search dogs. If they did bring them in...how did they miss her?

aww man. I'm so sorry. Prayers for her family and friends during their time of grief.

Rest in Peace Eridania.

Did she receive this mysterious phone call instructing her to go to the 8th floor on her cell phone? They should be able to determine where that call came from. I would venture to say the crime scene is somewhere on the 8th floor as well.

How did LE miss her?

Prayers to the family.

The mystery of a Manhattan mom who disappeared from her office-cleaning job ended with a tragic discovery Saturday: her body in an air conditioning duct, police said.

Eridania Rodriguez's remains were discovered at 8:50 a.m. between the 12th and 13th floors of 2 Rector St. after dozens of cops and sniffer dogs spent a second day searching.

The floor where her body was found is under construction. . .

I read that she was found on a floor that was under construction and that
missing ceiling tiles and a smell led them to discover her body.

With two men as suspects, it should not take long to discover who did kill
Eridania R.

RIP in eternal peace.
