I feel very sad that young Evanna died. I also feel for her younger relatives, who are must be experiencing a lot of uncertainty.
I hope that the authorities have done a thorough medical assessment of the other minor children, including looking at vitamin and mineral levels (and not just a standard CBC).
I support any family that seeks to feed a more wholesome and nutritious diet than the "Standard American Diet" (SAD). However, anytime an individual, especially a parent decides to limit/switch/drastically change the availability of major food groups, IMO, they have the RESPONSIBILITY to research any possible negative consequences, CONSULT with a QUALIFIED, licensed medical professional, and do blood tests at least once a year to monitor for any deficiencies or issues (Again, IMO).
Of course, Evanna's diet (candies not withstanding), may not even be central to this case, but my opinion on dietary differences would be the same.
I would think it even more pertinent if a sibling, or close family member had had previous nutrient deficiency.
Adequate macro nutrients (proteins, fats and carbohydrates), as well as micro nutrients (vitamins, minerals etc.), are very important to both physical and mental health. In fact, it is very interesting (IMO) to look at research on how nutrient deficiency can impact mental health, as well as physical.
I hope that all the facts can come out in court, that those charged have a fair trial, that her younger relatives are safe and cherished, and most importantly, that Evanna gets justice, and laid to rest with dignity.
