During the hearing, Trump spoke only to tell the court he had a copy of the May 8 order restricting him from disclosing certain evidence to third parties, including news outlets and on social media.

Blanche said Trump was concerned the order violated his First Amendment rights to freedom of speech. But he said he had told his client that Merchan did not intend to impede his speech and that the restriction was not a gag order, which would bar him from speaking publicly about the case at all.

Merchan said he did not mean to restrict Trump's ability to campaign, and that Trump "is certainly free to deny the charges, he is free to defend himself against the charges."

The judge said on Tuesday that if Trump violates the restrictions, he could be held in contempt of court.

The restrictions on Trump concern grand jury minutes, witness statements, and other materials that prosecutors are required to turn over to the defense to prepare for trial.

Prosecutors have said the order was needed because of Trump's history of attacks on social media, and the risk that witnesses might be harassed.

Sigh.

The March 25, 2024 date will require him to be here (NYC) in person, I suppose.

I’ll have to get out of town then if that’s true.

I know the NYPD will keep things under control, but Trump will make it into such a circus.

Can't help but smile at this DM heading! :)

Furious Trump glares into the camera and shakes his fists as judge sets Stormy Daniels trial for March 25, 2024 - in the middle of the GOP primaries and months before the presidential election

The Stormy Daniels case will now grind forward while Trump faces legal exposure in multiple other venues.

His lawyers face an August 29 deadline for motions – just as Republican presidential debates that Trump may or may not take part in will be underway. Prosecutors get to respond by October 10, which will be in the thick of candidate competition.

A January 4, 2024 hearing date would be days before the Iowa caucuses and the New Hampshire primary are set to be held.

Prosecutors argued the move was necessary to keep Trump from releasing confidential information in the case and then claim he hadn't been familiar with the terms of the order...

I live north of you in Orange County and I’m gonna want to leave.

The document lists the dates of 34 instances between Feb. 14, 2017 and Dec. 5, 2017 when he allegedly falsified records.

In a section devoted to electronic evidence that will be turned over, a prosecutor for Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg's office indicated they have disclosed to the defense a "recording of a conversation between defendant and a
witness."

The section also indicates prosecutors intend to disclose recordings of calls between witnesses and others.

I would say they will be (or will include) Michael Cohen's recordings.

As we know, he recorded DT speaking about the hush money payment/amount with him.
Cohen also recorded conversations between himself and the lawyer who (at the time) represented Stormy Daniels and Karen McDougal.

FBI seized recordings between Trump’s lawyer and Stormy Daniels’ former lawyer (July 2, 2018)

Former President Donald Trump's motion to move the New York criminal case against him to federal court will be heard next month.

A federal judge in New York, Alvin Hellerstein, scheduled the hearing for Trump's bid for June 27. Trump's lawyers filed to have the case moved from state court on May 4, saying that "the case involves important federal questions since the indictment charges President Trump for conduct committed while he was president of the United States."
That's interesting. He wants his charges moved to a Federal court.

Maybe because any sitting President has to power to Pardon Federal Crimes, but not State crimes.....

I'd shutter to see Trump and Desantis team up.

All completely my ramblings, JMO, MOO, etc
