So. After my snit-throwing and the question-posing, plus, more importantly (perhaps) the FB revelation that a tooth and hanks of hair were discovered at the Old Post Road/Rabbit Lane dump scene, I still favor the explanation for the death as given, though the odds were in free-fall for awhile. And they're still, I think, lower.

Funny how the CCS wouldn't release the fact that she was beaten. They withheld this information from her family even. It wasn't until her mother found her tooth at the site that they were forced to admit there was signs of physical violence. If she OD'ed..did they beat her after she had died? Or did they beat her before and then she decided wth, knocked my teeth out but I'll still shoot up? We appreciate those that didn't automatically assume an overdose. New to thread sites like this so apologies if I post in the wrong spot. Yes, there has been new information. Some that was kept from the family until recently, some of which strongly suggests this was not an OD. Physical harm to the body that they withheld until her mother found a tooth at the site and pushed for further information. Also found out Molly's father and the lead investigator are great friends. Odd, since he specifically told Halles mother he had no idea who Molly's dad was. I just finished reading these threads and I have to remind myself many of these posts were made before more information was made available. I would bank my life on the fact that Halle did not do this to herself. Between threats of him wanting to kill her (investigators have locked her profile so her mother can no longer access these messages, although she has SS saved) and the messy investigation which overlaps Molly's father investigation...much error has been made in this case. Her family refuses to let this go.

Any case which reminds me of the insufficient actions of law enforcement in Oklahoma, where I used to live, needs re-investigated. And this one does need re-investigated. I wish the family had funds for a private investigator. That might expedite matters.

That's exactly what her mother asked. They told her it probably wasn't hers (because apparently people get left all the time..). Then all of a sudden the rest of the autopsy comes in and she's missing some. Coincidence?

Yes it is! The entire county to be honest. However drugs isn't the only thing Cotman was known for selling. I believe that's why he had been trying to get her to use. Another product. The Thursday before she went missing there was an incident that people had come forward with information on, that however it was never looked into.

4. Police: Copake woman goes missing

Police are looking for a Copake woman who went missing over the Labor Day weekend, police said.

Halle P. Schmidt, 21, of Pumpkin Hollow Road in Copake, was reported missing to the sheriff’s office Sunday.

Schmidt is described as a white female who is approximately 5’7" and 125 pounds, according to the sheriff’s office, who is handling the search.

Angela Concra, also of Copake and Schmidt’s mother, said her daughter has blue-green eyes and dyed-blonde hair with shaved areas around the sides of her head.

A Queens man was arrested and charged with a felony in connection with the drug overdose death of 21-year-old Copake resident Halle Schmidt, the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office said.

Rasheem Cotman, 32, was charged with concealment of a human corpse, a class E felony.
Ron Love, the 21-year-old victim’s stepfather, said county sheriff’s investigators told him

Cotman drove Halle out to Kinderhook after she overdosed on heroin, where he dumped her body.

The official cause of death was a heroin overdose, according to the sheriff’s office.

This case really upsets me. Firstly early on in this case this truly beautiful young lady was dismissed as a heroin addict by media. Bravo to her loving, dedicated fierce family for keeping the fire burning here. I smell a rat here. I hope this family gets justice and closure for this girl. Same age as my daughter. What a this guy and girl are.

It seems to me that there should not be a discrepancy between did the family know about the guilty plea or not. I feel like there is something else at play. She may have died of an overdose but I have some serious questions.
