I sent off an email to the missing persons contact listed on doenetwork. I'll let you know if I get a response.

Anyone hear anything on the emails they sent out???

I found this guy... Jonathon Williams. All the stats are off but I see some resemblance between him and the UID.

I hardly ever get a response from the ME. I would like to know if this John Doe was one of the few recently being dna tested but he has not responded to me.

I know that the ME has been in contact with the USMC recently but I cannot get confirmation that anything is still moving with this case or if he has been ruled out as being a US Marine.

I have been trying to get a reporter to do an article on this UID and am hopeful that something may be coming soon.

Thank you all for keeping this man's thread bumped up. I think of him often, and of the loved ones who may be missing him. I hope we hear news soon.

If you have some links to active USMC FB groups or pages, I would just go ahead and post a pic of the flyer on the page, without waiting for permission (assuming it is an open group) from the page owner. If they don't want it, they'll just delete it, but one would hope they keep it up there to help ID him.

Or maybe send a FB message to one of the more active posters on the pages, asking if s/he will post it for you?

Someone on Facebook also suggested Andre El as a possible match. He was mentioned previously, his stats do not match up but the date last seen was June 23, 1997. The same day that John Doe was found. Could Andre have made it to NYC from Tennessee? (I'm still wondering if John Doe's stats are accurate?)

Is there any way to see an autopy report on a John Doe?

It always shocks me....how hard it is to identify someone....especially somebody with a possible military history.....and his tattoo. Everybody deserves their name, and every family deserves closure. I am once again impressed by all everyone in here does to try to help these people find their way home. Has anyone thought to contact tattoo shops around the area he was found? I know he may have gotten it elsewhere.....but most shops would remember something this elaborate. (At least here they would) I know it is a long shot.....but it is just an idea.

Maybe Robert King Scott

I know it doesn't say anything about the tattoo but while he was away he could have did it.

I have sent multiple emails to the LE handling Roberts case. They keep saying they will get back to me but have not yet. I think he could be a possibilty. Someone might have better luck if they call LE.

Add: I sent another email today to LE regarding Robert King Scott...

The dental comments from NamUs profile state:
#6-11 - Enamel hypoplasia
#18 - Occlusal amalgam
#19 - Buccal amalgam and silicate occlusal
#30 - Occlusal and buccal amalgam
#31 - Occlusal and buccal amalgam

Can this help us id him?

I went back thru the thread and the following people were suggested as a possible match:

1) Robert King Scott - emailed LE handling Roberts case multiple times - "will get back to you"
2) Hilary Hayes
3) Edgar Forbes
4) Jerome White
5) Endre El
6) Anthony Ray Lofston
7) Robert Webb - Emailed LE and NamUs- no response
8) Anthony Philips
9) Jonathan Williams - submitted to Doe Network - no response
10) Owen Powell
11) Vodre Norelus

I just wanted to have this info in one place, I hope I didn't miss anyone.

Yesterday (6/23) marked another year since "John Doe" was found deceased. I continue to hit a wall everywhere I turn for help in identifying him. I have had several reporters tell me that they would be doing a story and have spent hours on the phone/email giving them details and then they never follow through. I haven't posted here in a while but I am still here working and welcome any help I can get! I am determined that he will not be forgotten!

Bump... I'm still trying to get publicity for this "John Doe" if anyone has any ideas I would really appreciate it!

What about a Facebook page if you don't already have one?

Earlier in this thread someone mentioned that this man could have been discharged from the Marines or another branch of the military. That made me think of Meghann Waranoski, the young woman with distinctive military tats who was unidentified for some time. She seemed to have been obsessed with getting back into the Marines and was never reported missing; likely estranged from her family and friends. I wonder if this is the case with this man.

FWIW, here is her thread, which has various resources on the Marines and tattoos:
