I watched the show about Jaliek last night. Boy am I appalled at the adoptive parents' attitudes and behavior! It seems like the grandma (mother's mom) is searching for Jaliek, but his adoptive parents aren't? The grandma also said they adopted special needs kids for the money. The show also indicated that the grandma went to the family's former house and found a pile of Jaliek's clothes which included the yellow fleece sweatshirt that the dad said he was last wearing. How heartbreaking. To me it looks like the dad has the mom brainwashed and under his control. The dad has to have been involved in the disappearance. Especially since they tried to get the adoption undone and indicated Jaliek couldn't come back to the house after the argument. Sad, pathetic parents. Didn't they have to go through a screening or something to be sure the placement was ok? Sheesh. Where are you Jaliek? Poor kid.

I watched the tvone show on on demand last night and would like to echo these thoughts. I feel someone is getting away with murder here and am outraged. I'm not a lawyer but from what I've read and heard about this I think a skillful prosecutor could get a conviction here even without a body.

I saw a news report last night about The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children coming to investigate. They said that both of his adoptive parents are still persons of interest and that they have not had ANY communication with LE in YEARS.

I only discovered this thread today, and its heart-breaking. I work at a school and often work with kids like this ... and having their heads dunked into water is absolutely NOT what they need. Poor, poor boy. I found the "goodbye letter" absolutely chilling and I hope that the person responsible for Jaliek's disappearance gets what they deserve. The circumstances of his last night seem to be so obviously suspicious, I can't believe so many years have passed without anyone being charged.

All he needed was a chance in life with decent people. If the authorities are giving away those sums of money for people to "care" for children such as Jaliek, then I'm afraid you are going to get the sort of people who want the money, but not the work involved.

Wherever he is, I hope he's at peace .... Merry Christmas Jaliek
