Daily News in NY. They have updated the story to include names of parents and more info on Chanel Lewis.

Yeah, I know .... just wish they would mention where they got that photo. Doesn't look like a perp walk photo.

Richard Lewis, the former principal of PS 181, said that last year, three local East New York youths mugged Chanel and whacked him in the head with a piece of wood, leaving him hospitalized.

Later, the ****s mugged Chanel Lewis a second time, the dad said.

Cops have said Chanel Lewis had no priors before being arrested on murder and sex-assault raps in Vetrano’s death in a Howard Beach park in August.


ETA: wondering if this was around the time of Karinas murder. Any marks that Karina left from fighting back could have been played off to family as marks from being jumped OR maybe he wasn't jumped or mugged at all and that was his cover.

I was thinking the same thing. If he was hit on the head, perhaps it caused some sort of permanent brain injury that resulted in the change in behavior. So perplexing....
