Im not sure how to upload photos here or I would upload the contrast fix so you can see better.

Moles and marks can get larger with time and this would have been a few years difference.

Wendy was pregnant but it didnt say how far so an early pregnancy and miscarriage may not show 6 years later.

Pregnancy can alter moles and birthmarks too.

I'm basically going just on my gut instinct, but I believe that the person responsible for MVJD's murder is of Italian-American heritage, was in his 30's at the time (birth year between 1948 -1958), and possibly had family who owned a business in the industrial section of the city where MVJD was found. *If* he grew up or lived in Mt. Vernon, it was not in the immediate vicinity, as this area was never really residential.

I've attached a Google map of the area. I take public transportation through here every day, and Carleton is NOT visible from any of the main roads such as Route 22 aka S. Columbus or E. Sandford Blvd. The waterway to the east is the Hutchinson River, and east of that is the Hutchinson River Parkway. Carleton has to be one of the least known streets in the city, and I've been down similar, nearby industrial blocks like Miller Place, Bertel Ave., Canal St., Dock St. There is truly no way that someone unfamiliar with the area or even just vaguely familiar with it, stumbled across Carleton in the dark.

In fact, looking closely, I have been literally passing through the intersection of Carleton and Route 22 every day and still had no idea it was there. The street sign is an older, smaller one.

Look at the post mortem photo. She wore glasses

Look around her eyes. Look on her nose. You can see the outline

I agree about knowing the location. Curious where you got Italian-American from? Is that just the ethnicity of most people in the area?

Mount Vernon, in the years I was growing up (which coincided with this case), was primarily Italian-American and African-American. The phrase "wrong side of the tracks" was/is literal here - the New Haven Railroad was built in the middle of the city, effectively cutting Mt. Vernon in half, and most AA families lived on the south side (where MVJD was found) and most IA families lived on the north side. However, the south side "back in the day" had a lot of IA families, many of whom built and retained businesses in the industrial section. "White flight" showed them move their homes north or east to Eastchester, Tuckahoe, New Rochelle, or Pelham, and continued to keep their business in MV. Of course, the perpetrator could just as likely be African American when you consider the population stats, but my gut tells me otherwise.

There is also a large company called Sprague Energy nearby to Carleton Ave.

In more recent years (mid to late 90s), Mt. Vernon has experienced a large influx of Brazilian immigrants, but that was not the case as far as I can remember in 1988.

Is that an outline, or swelling/discoloration/bruising? It's hard for me to tell. I see what you're looking at, though. Good eyes!

IMO, that's just bruising or postmortem discoloration. I wear glasses and I've never had an indentation last more than a few minutes on my nose. I'm not sure, but I don't think a mark would still be there 6+ hours later, although who knows? The photo also looks like it was taken after an autopsy had been performed (you can see the "lump" from it on her forehead), so I'm not sure how that would factor in to any marks like that.

I also believe the killer came from the north or east of the location. Headed down the Hutch Pkwy or came southbound on Rt. 22. Just thinking out loud...and just passed by Carleton again.

Five Felines, thanks for the insight! It looked like postmortem discoloration to me as well. What is the lump on her forehead?

Yeah, but when you die, discoloration of where your glasses once were wont fade. It is likely she was killed somewhere else and dumped there. No clothing or anything else was found.

I think it possibly could be an outline of someone with glasses being punched in the face many times.

I'm not 100% sure but I know when they examine the brain in an autopsy, they cut across the top of the head and remove the top of the skull. I've seen that "bump" in other PM photos and am pretty sure it's an area that's been Photoshopped or otherwise edited to hide where they pull down part of the scalp (sorry to be graphic!).

Yeah, that's what I wasn't sure about--if the discoloration would fade or not. Totally agree she was killed elsewhere. And she was punched or hit in the face.

Been reading about this case on and off for a while now and a couple of things really stand out for me.

Firstly she was posed arms outstretched and feet crossed (albeit horizontally one would presume), this seems to me to resemble crucifixion although i'm not certain that this is the way she was posed it sounds roughly how she would look.

Seems like the person that done this was quite comfortable moving a body around. She clearly was not killed at the scene but taken there after her demise (6-12 hours later according to the reports). The person that done this didn't take her to a place where she was likely to stay undiscovered for some time i.e Fountain Avenue dump or New Jersey/New York remote/wooded/river areas. Nope he posed her in the street - wouldn't be suprised if this was not his first victim, just from the level of comfort displayed in this crime. No panic it seems all deliberate and planned.

I could be way off base but it just seems there's more to this than just a hooker being dumped in NY. Hope something turns up and she can get Id'ed at some point - poor thing.

Dizzie, I completely agree with you. The thing that throws me is I've lived here for my entire life, either in Mount Vernon or five minutes away, and have never heard of another murder like this. This cannot have been his only victim, as you said... Where are the others? Francisco Acevedo was my guess as to who the killer was, but as the newspaper article stated, he was incarcerated in Connecticut at the time of her death.
