@WPTZJeremy: (1) #BREAKING: Joyce Mitchell described helping inmates by taking blades/tools & putting them inside burger meat. -@dawylie2013

@WPTZJeremy: (2) She'd then place meat in tailor shop fridge, Gene Palmer would (unknowingly) collect meat, give it to Matt/Sweat in cells -@dawylie2013

Well if I were these guys I wouldn't want to go back either. They have to know they have dismantled the Honor Block and their old mates are likely ready to do them in themselves LOL They really had a good thing going. Sex, drugs, maybe rock and roll? Oh and MEAT!

Honor Block is the least of their worries. They'll both be sent to different prisons where they can expect a minimum of five years in SHU, with state-only meals, and one hour of "rec" (per day) in an outdoor cage about the size of their cell.

I bet she's so dumb that she didn't think they would ever make it out. You know they had her dancing on a string like a puppet.

No sightings down here in Columbia County. (Yet.) Raining hard though.

I hear a reporter earlier on CNN say that inmates had access to computers. I took it that even these guys did. I wonder what a search of that turned up? Maybe just where they intended to go when the plan was to Drive with Miss Tillie?

I heard that report and the suggestion that they had internet is absolutely ridiculous. At best, they would have a 10-15 year old machine with a word processor (probably lotus) and some kind of inventory program (Excel?). Other than that the computer would be completely worthless to any inmate and certainly wouldn't yield any escape clues (unless they used auto cad to plot the escape). Even cursory street or country maps are contraband in prison. They surely wouldn't be in a prison computer.

While it's immensely unlikely that prison computers allowed them Internet access, they might at least have an old copy of Encarta World Atlas on the computers. ;)

Weather in Owl Head area looks to be in 70's daytime, 50's at night and no rain for next couple of days...

Ack on an article on here-- not too far back, it said that a cabin they were in had shotguns. It is assumed they are armed

Not sure how you're so sure they didn't have access. They could get it on anything- phone, tablet, Kindle....even my kid's gaming devices like Nitendo 3DS can access the internet.

Nothing is surprising after hearing of this surreal prison where inmates can get home cooked meals for doing favors for their CO's, have easy access to contraband, have sex in a refrigerator, are allowed to hang up sheets for privacy, etc.

Shotguns were left in an unoccupied cabin??????? Can that be for real? Especially since supposedly COs had been leasing the camp?

That's surprising and informative. Also it just seems like a terrible idea, but I'm not a prison official and have no training in that area, so who am I to judge.

And thanks for the welcome. I was trying to just blend in, but you guys must have noticed my low post count and unfamiliar name. :p

We always welcome newbies. Now u are blended in lol

Quite frankly because I was Central Callout Clerk (computer operator) while at Wende Correctional Facility from 1994-2001 serving 15 to life for cocaine possession. I was released in 2003 and have worked at a criminal defense law office since. I am in frequent contact with inmates at all DOCCS prisons, and served time at Attica after Wende. There is no internet inside, period. Internet access is limited to the Guidance Unit where no inmates go unescorted and no inmates ever ever ever touch the computer there. If you get caught with a cell phone (for example) that hypothetically was thrown over the wall, you can expect 2-5 YEARS in the SHU. Having said that, every max prison allows prisoners to hang sheets for privacy (who wants to watch inmates use the toilet?). It's CO's discretion how long it can remain up. "Home cooked meals" is media BS. Every now and again a CO might give you his leftovers or, if you did a solid (such as cleaned up the CO mess area or were a block clerk), half of his sub sandwich. CO's aren't bringing home cooked meals in for anyone. In honor block there is usually a stove top or hot plate shared by anywhere from 17 to 60 guys and they can cook food. Raw meat is prohibited and the best you'll do is raw vegetables (See DIr. 4911 below). Does contraband get smuggled in? Yes, no different than anywhere. "Street" clothes are allowed in every prison, every inmate: http://www.doccs.ny.gov/Directives/4911.pdf (see A-5, A-6). Any type of uncensored communication with the outside is a HUGE no-no and will land an inmate in SHU for years and get the CO terminated plain and simple.
