Leaving for a weeks vacation with no TV in 15 mins! Glad this was taken care of before I left!

CNN on tv right now: David Sweat shot by police and in custody - BREAKING NEWS

Wow...Constable. We had def discussed that area early on, re: Israel Keyes.

I am kinda freaking out that this just happened.

What hospital will he be transported to?

Another day or two and they would have been up here in Canada. Thank goodness both have been located.

BREAKING: NY State Troopers tell Action News escaped prisoner David Sweat has been taken into custody #PrisonBreakNY
And I was actually home but just distracted for half an hour.
Well, I can still read here as if I was learning about it earlier than CNN just said it. :p

Sweat not far from where Richard Matt was killed yesterday as per CNN anchor live on the scene

CNN on tv - what we know is that he was shot, he is alive, and he is in custody.

we don't know yet if he was armed.

Thank God no civilians or LE were killed. Great work, LE, and may the accountability begin for the few who endangered so many.

With regard to question a number of pages back about underground railroad -- YES -- Franklin County and the north country in general were part of the underground railroad back in the early/mid 1800's -- helping slaves escape to Canada.

"The Rev. Ashbel Parmelee was the leading abolitionist in Malone. He was the pastor of the First Congregational Church, a documented site on the New York Underground Railroad Heritage Trail, where anti-slavery meetings were held and where it is believed fugitive slaves were secreted in the basement."
This article has photos of the tunnel system under the First Congregational Church of Malone http://www.northcountryundergroundrailroad.com/franklin-county.php

Jabez Parkhurst, who lived in Franklin County next to Clinton, in the small village of Fort Covington, only a half-mile from the Canadian border, was known to have aided fugitive slaves. His involvement is reported in Frederick Seaver’s Historical Sketches of Franklin County published in 1918, which cited several sources. One of them, Marshall Conant, was an ancestor of a Dr. Conant, an officer in the Eastern New York Anti-Slavery Society. He reported that, “Mr. Parkhurst was an ardent abolitionist, and many a runaway was harbored and fed at his home.” http://undergroundrailroadconductor.com/New_York.htm

I think the "tunnels" were more hiding places though -- not actual transport ways

I'm sure a lot of CO's are VERY nervous right now.

CNN Says he was shot 2 miles south of the canadian border in the town of Constable (where Israel Keyes' cabin was, incidentally).

Two miles south of Canadian border. He was close, although you'd think you could get a lot closer in that time they had.
