Friends of the Dayton Oregon District shooter cut ties with him earlier this year because he’d unexpectedly brandish guns and once talked about shooting up Timothy’s, a popular bar among University of Dayton students, a former friend told the Dayton Daily News.

Other people — far from friendly with Connor Betts, the shooter — recalled to the Dayton Daily News how they’d been concerned about him and his bizarre behavior for years, even reporting him to local police.

El-Fakir, who said he’s personally pro-2nd Amendment, described Betts as “definitely not a right-leaning person. His political views definitely leaned to the left. And believe it or not, he was actually pro-gun control. He was actually anti-2nd Amendment.”

But, the people who knew him, around the bar areas, were very shocked, and never saw that side of him. He never shot up his school, he shot up the place where folks seemed to accept and like him.

The Pulse nightclub shooter, it was stated, iirc, that he was gay, and had visited the club on several occasions. He shot up a club that would have accepted him, when it's quite possible, because of his family's faith, they may not have.

The Vegas Shooter; He loved gambling and concerts. He shot up the very place he enjoyed, he murdered people doing what he, himself, enjoyed doing.

Just some of them that I've noticed that seem to have that similarity.

Interesting connections you're making here. Perhaps, the shooter(s) have discovered that they no longer derive pleasure from the things they once considered a very important part of their lives/identity.

Destroying what you can't (or can no longer) have is a way to punish those who "flaunt" that they can still enjoy those particular things/places.
IMO

“The last straw in Will El-Fakir’s relationship with Betts was when he pulled out a gun and held it near El-Fakir’s head about five months ago.“

Stings are set up for pedophiles. Why can't they send people into these deep dark places, find the ones who seem to be extreme, and do some checking into their Junior and High School years.
We have a no fly list.
There needs to be a no buy list too.
Any person who threatened to shoot up their school, even in years past, that got the attention of the school staff or law enforcement should be on that list NOW-
EVEN if they are currently too young to purchase a weapon. They should never be able to legally buy one either.
There has to be a way to identify these monsters and plucking them out of these hate/supreme sites
shouldn't be that hard.
IMO concern only exists immediately after a mass shooting.
Every time they do and say the same thing over and over, yet do nothing. Talk the talk, then walk the walk!
They don't.
Moo
This is what Colion Nior stated. He said we do this for terrorist, why can’t we do the same thing for these mass shooters? Who IMO are also terrorists.

“I don’t know if this is the motive that made him snap,” El-Fakir said, “(but I think) he donned himself with that ballistic vest just to show people how easy it was to arm themselves. It’s pure speculation.”

“He never once spit out a conservative opinion on gun control,” El-Fakir said.

This was my thought. He says he’s leftist, which normally means anti-2nd amendment. And the last tweet he had posted was of Biden saying basically if you don’t like something then change it. My initial thought was wow did this guy do this to further a political agenda or belief? Which if this is the case, then it worked. Disgusting

“As the sole survivor of the car journey with Betts and a witness to the moments leading up to the atrocity, Beard could hold the key to why Betts embarked on his killing spree.

He was critically ill in the hospital in Dayton Monday but has been been speaking tio police.

But the fact Beard shot both his friend and his sister will only add to questions over his motive for killing nine people.

On Monday Dayton Police chief Richard Biehl said it 'seems to defy believability' that Betts would target his sister in what had initially seemed to be a mass shooting without a specific target.

'It's also hard to believe that he did not recognize his own sister,' Biehl said. 'So we just don't know.' “

Americans can't lose rights and freedoms without having their day in court. It's due process.

How in the world can you shoot your best friend? Also how is he your best friend when you put him on your hit list?

Wow people are forgiving.

It is clear CB was unhinged and there are multiple examples, even recently.

Connor Betts shot his best friend during mass shooting after driving with him to Dayton | Daily Mail Online

Connor Betts has shades of Elliot Rodger, Eric Harris, Devin Kelley, and Stephen Paddock. He is a minefield of red flags.
Wow, likely most of these people in this video would have been killed if those officers wouldn’t have been at the right place at the right time.

Which also makes me wonder. If he was there in the area with his sister and friend earlier in the night before they split up, wouldn’t he know there was heavy police presence? I would think that would be a deterrent.

I don't follow these type of cases very much.
Maybe because I can't makes sense of the extreme violence.
I can't comprehend the motives behind a mass shooter's actions.
Wanting to be famous (or infamous) for criminal deeds has never made any sense to me.
Seeing people as objects or part of some sick game is too abhorrent to comprehend.
I think these type of criminals are usually deeply mentally disturbed but at the same time that answer seems too simplistic. I also believe in evil. No one answer, no one solution seems right.

All that said, yes @margarita25 I believe it will stop one day. On the same day when every knee bows. On that day the evil will be gone and no more tears will fall. That's my personal belief only. I don't know if we will see that happen in our lifetime here on earth. I don't have any answers on how we as a society can stop it right now. I believe things will only get worse before they get better. We can only try to be light. The light shines in the darkness and the darkness can not overcome it. We can be the good and embrace the good shown through the heroes and helpers who risk their lives when evil things like this happen. That's all I know. I'm not up for a game of ping-pong today.

PS-- This post is probably too off topic. Mods please delete and forgive me if I've crossed a line.

MOO.

Very well said!

What can I download to be able to watch this. .ppsx file. I just need a viewer of some sort.

Thanks to anyone who can advise.

I used Keynote on my Mac, so either that or something that would play a PowerPoint presentation.

As a teacher, my guess is that the principal did expel him and parents took it to the district level. What district says, goes. I don’t think he’s spineless necessarily, because he DID kick him out. I would look higher for the spineless person(s). MOO
Yes, I’ve worked in public education for thirty years, and my take on the principal’s statement about CB’s hit list aligns with yours:he had expelled him, but he was overruled due to a parental appeal to the School Board, or an objection due to IDEA protections, etc...

Well, he intended to kill his sister, apparently, so I doubt he thought much of the friend.
Was it his best friend?
I thought he was described as being a companion.
Was he one of the names on the hit list from high school?
