EAST CLEVELAND, Ohio — The East Cleveland Police Department is investigating after locating the body of an unidentified woman Tuesday afternoon.

According to officials, police received a tip that the body of missing 22-year-old Alishah Pointer was located in the basement of a burned-out home in the 14500 block of Savannah Avenue in East Cleveland.

Police say that the body of a Black female was found, but officials are waiting for the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office to make a positive identification before confirming any additional details. "We are highly confident that is her [Pointer]," East Cleveland Police Chief Scott Gardner told 3News.

"Detectives have been working 18 hours a day since it was reported that Ms. Pointer was possibly abducted. The Cleveland Office of both the FBI and Secret Service have been instrumental from the onset of the investigation," said Gardner.

Gardner says police are withholding the names of the other two suspects for now.

East Cleveland police arrested 17-year-old Destiny Mariah Unique Henderson on Tuesday. Police tell 3News that Indya Pauldo, Anthony Bryant, Brittany Smith, Destiny Henderson, Portria Williams, and Nathaniel Poke, Jr. have all been arrested and charged in the torture and death of the 22-year-old East Cleveland resident. Henderson, Williams, Poke Jr. and Smith have all been in custody since at least Thursday, according to Police Chief Scott Gardner.

Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas Juvenile records show that the 17-year-old Henderson is facing 11 counts including murder, aggravated murder, and kidnapping in the events surrounding Pointer's disappearance and presumed death.

Gardner told 3News that it is believed several members of the group, if not all, took part in kidnapping Pointer. Investigators think assailants kidnapped the East Cleveland resident after an acquaintance of Pointer's had lured her from her residence. Police believe Pointer had information relating to a homicide that took place in Cleveland on Nov. 2, possibly the shooting death of Aminjas Zion Shomo, a relative of Hakeem Ali Shomo, a suspect in this case.

According to the complaint filed in the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas Juvenile Division, the 17-year-old is charged with the following:

  • Count 7 and 10: Aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony with a 1-3 firearm specification.

The complaint alleges that the 17-year-old girl used a gun during two kidnappings, one which happened on Glenmont Road in East Cleveland where investigators said two women were kidnapped, and the other, which involved Pointer.

East Cleveland police said those involved in her death first kidnapped one of Pointer’s friends from East Cleveland to lure Pointer from her North Randall home.
