I believe I read somewhere that Clint lawyered up right away. Why would you do that if you had nothing to hide? red flag. I think Clint brought him to the bar and set him up somehow. I don't know how or why. Clint did not want to risk all the money and time he spent on college to ruin his career, so he wouldn't cooperate. All my opinion only.
I personally believe, MOO, that Clint knows more than he is saying. One theory I have, is that they met up afterwards to do drugs. Perhaps going to buy the drugs is where Brian disappeared to initially. Maybe Brian died while doing the drugs and Clint hid the body to protect both of their reputations..Just an idea no real basis for saying that

I have contemplated contacting Clint Florence but I guess I never had the courage... but I believe I just don't know where to even start. The fact that he just bailed on Brian by not providing any information is extremely suspicious especially if he was his "close friend". I have thought if he had lured Brian into this place to hurt him for whatever reason. Since LE didn't have substantial reasons to suspect his involvement then they didn't push it any further because perhaps Clint had a motive that nobody else knew about.

I agree with everyone's thoughts shared in here. Even if Clint got a lawyer to protect himself... That's generally not what an innocent and blissfully ignorant person would have done in the first place. If he was truly innocent, he would be concerned abwout Brian if he was his friend. I am not trying to accuse Clint, but his actions sure make him look guilty as hell. If he was truly concerned about his reputation he would not be hiring a lawyer, if he was not involved he would be able to openly talk about it. Maybe he was afraid that without legal defense he would crack before the cops.
another theory that I consider is that Clint might have hurt Brian inside the bar, hid him somewhere and then had gone back to get rid of the body. This really explains why there was no video of Brian leaving the bar, nor him wandering off somewhere outside the bar. from what I have read, there were lots of surveillance cameras in the area. Also, it's wise to consider that Clint was very familiar with the bar
I'm sorry but I find your avenue of thinking completely wrong. Everyone should get a lawyer before speaking to the police. Its not evidence of guilt or innocence
Brian Shaffer's disappearance feels close to my heart, as Randy Shaffer offered a $8,000 dollar reward to any information leading to Holly Metzger-Carruthers location. It is a damn shame that Randy Shaffer passed away without getting answers to his son's mystery disappearance. Here are some information that could give a great overview of the case.
True Crime Garage did a two part series on Brian Shaffer:

What's the leading theory of what happened to Brian? How did he get out of the building with both exits under surveillance?

Was he drunk? Here's a theory:There are number of theories but the most interesting one is no one seems to be sure of how many exits were for sure and which ones had surveillance and which ones didnt. There is a main entrance, employee entrance and at the time of disappearance there was a construction exit as well.
Was he drunk? Here's a theory:
Was drunk. Annoyed the wrong person. Gets punched and knocked out or killed. Person panics and carries him out one of the back exits where there are no cameras and dispose his body. Could have happened at closing time after most left the bar. Could be inside job or not.
Obviously someone can't go in a bar and not come out. He had to have been taken out a back exit off camera.
I don't believe he left on his own. Foul play definetly involved. I think someone working there knows what happened
