Here's the comprehensive case recap again, now updated for Day 7.

Day 7: Still no sign of missing Elaina as crews expand search: Family members and members of the Federal Bureau... http://dlvr.it/3V0h32

I am so surprised it has gone on this long. This changes my initial theory. Initially I thought that the bf probably ran out of the back door with her, maybe to hide her because she had injuries they were trying to hide from the father.

But he could not have gotten very far before they found him a few streets over, so I doubt that happened the way I first imagined. Now I have to think she was maybe gone the night before or early that morning.

To my knowledge, she had no behavioral problms, and the med she was on was an oral med for thrush.

Thank you for answering and for getting verified! Just to clarify, I didn't mean by my post that she had behavioral problems, more like that she was shy of anyone but mum or dad. (I was holy hell at her age, apparently, because I believed in stranger danger and had a pretty broad definition of "stranger"!) Just because I didn't want to sound rude or assuming. :seeya:

Did someone say she was having ' issues' ? For some reason I thought Angela said that .

Very interesting. I missed that first time around. Thanks for pointing it out. What *does* it mean??

She has problems and the only way they're gonna get handled is if me and her father can do it for her.

New to this case... spent all day reading this thread. Have been holding off posting anything until I was done but I can't really bite my tongue much longer.

EDIT: two seconds after I posted a speculation, I read a post that shot it down. I will quietly retreat and finish reading now.

:blushing:

Welcome aboard and please jump right in and join us. Don't worry about ideas getting shot down. We bat the same ideas around a million different ways. You never know when someone might pick up on the tiniest difference and use it to connect a few more dots. Hopefully we can help FM and her family being their sweet baby girl back home where she belongs!

So happy to see ferretmommy verified. Really had wished to come on and see this beautiful little girl found safe.

Police say they have no new leads in the search for little Elaina Steinfurth. The 18-month-old was last seen Sunday June 2 when her mother says she disappeared during a custody exchange.

TPD says there were no extended search efforts on Saturday because they have no new leads to follow.

There were no more door-to-door or water search efforts on Saturday, though detective and officers were still patrolling the area in hopes of finding new leads.

Elaina's family didn't want to talk on camera, but her grandmother says they are frustrated. They don't understand how Elaina could have disappeared from her home in the 700 block of Federal without being seen.

In my heartbreaking but thankfully limited experience with someone who found themselves addicted to the stuff in question, and/or anything else that gave a similar feeling, they tend to fall asleep and become really slow and have no idea they're doing it... the person I know crashed headfirst into a phone pole after falling asleep at the wheel, they fell asleep in their dinner plate one night and despite being woken up over and over they kept denying there was anything wrong with them, one time they fell asleep with bath water running and had to be woken up and thought it was the next morning .... anyway... if someone was using that they would very likely become completely neglectful, and absolutely might leave a child in a bathtub and forget them or anything else of that nature. Neglect injury rather than willful infliction injury would be my suspicion 110% here based on what I"ve seen of this realm of drugs IF, in fact, a person using this kind of thing had anything to do with her disappearance, which would seem to be one of the more likely scenarios based on the information given.

Heartbreaking in every way shape and form.

I am praying for this child. Right now if anyone can help me out so I don't have to go back and read this whole thread again to find the info I'm looking for, that would be fantastic.... what I'm trying to figure out was the last time ANYONE else saw Elaina. Not heard, or thought they heard... but saw. How many hours prior to her dad arriving to pick her and the four year old up?

Thank you to whomever might be able to help me out here. :seeya:

Thank you for posting this. Sad to hear that LE is stumped.

Here is what I don't understand. There were a few adults awake and around inside the home, where the baby was allegedly napping. So I find it hard to believe that a stranger went inside in broad daylight, with 4 adults inside, and took a sleeping baby. :waitasec:

I just can't get past the image of the bf running out the back door right when she said the baby went missing. It makes me wonder if the sweetheart had a black eye or visible bruises, and they needed to hide her somewhere.

Angela and her boyfriend claim to have seen Elaina about noon/12:30pm on Sunday, when Angela says she changed her diaper and gave her a cup and put her down for a nap.

No one else reports seeing Elaina on Sunday.

I *think* the bf's mom saw Elaina on Saturday when Angela brought the kids to the house, but I can't say 100%.

I'm eagerly waiting for whoever saw her last on Saturday to say so, and to tell us her condition.

We've been having a hard time pinning down that last sighting tbh. I believe ferret said the daddy saw her on Friday, but I could be mistaken. I think I need to go back and read her posts as well.

I find it very odd that the bf's mom didn't see the baby on Sunday. It is almost impossible to keep a 17 month old 'separated' from others in the same home. Toddlers are hard to wrangle.

Well, my theory was based on the quote about "she has problems" and only the mom and dad can fix them, or something to that effect. I considered that and the fact she was on medicine, and spat out a theory about it JUST PRIOR to reading that the medicine was for oral thrush.

BTW, my son got oral thrush and I got mastitis when I was nursing my oldest, so as many have said in the thread so far, thrush isn't that uncommon. My boy had it into his throat, not just on his tongue as many might be picturing in their head, and he was so young that he could only nurse as means of getting food and one of the only reflexes a baby has is to suckle and to cry, and suckling MADE him cry because swallowing hurt, and so it was a very sad little while there as he got better. Infant painkiller meds work nice after awhile but until it kicks in it can be a pretty trying time. Re: painkillers working ok, here's another thing that just occurred to me : Rather than a painkiller, our doctor would warn us before the "Cranky Baby Shots" (as we called baby immunizations as young parents) that we might want to bring along the Benadryl to give them to help them sleep off the pain of the shot afterwards.....

one time I gave my son his tylenol and then went to rinse the medicine syringe and my husband didn't know I'd done it so he gave it to him too, so we called poison control and it turned out not to be a big deal but we were FREAKING OUT.... but if two people did that with Benadryl back to back and neither noticed, I wonder if that might be a bigger problem?

That worries me in cases like Lisa Irwin, and this one... :(

I'm thinking BF's mom saw the children because she described them as being cold and wet and having nowhere to go, BUT it's possible that she did not in fact see the little one.

For example, when our children were 17 months old it was common to carry the carseat inside with sleeping baby still sitting in it so as to not wake them, and if it was raining outside we would drape a light blanket over the entire thing, top to bottom, until we got inside. Perhaps she was carried inside in this manner.... just throwing thoughts out there as my brain attempts to make sense of all this.

ETA: and, Saturday morning? evening? in between? 11pm? This would be good to know, providing Elaina was seen by someone at that time.

Did hollye post a map? I'll go look back at the beginning, we're gonna need one. And if anyone knows the street BF was found crying and vomiting, or whatever he was doing when he was found a few streets away, that will be important (maybe Hollye's got it all mapped, lemme see what I can find).

There better not be a blue camper parked out back when I see a map, or a fence with a loudly barking dog, or I'm going to have a fit. *cough-boxofwine-cough*

I'm waiting on box of wine for my fail parenting bingo. Someone else is waiting on a kitten to make an appearance.
