I really hope law enforcement has been checking the rubbish on the route Harley walked to his high school before it goes to landfill.

I have also wondered if Harley could have been lured by an online gamer like in the Brett Bednar case here in the U.K.

And possibly making him a target at school for bullying.

IMO
I think the mother should stay off of line because it’s making this an even worse situation.she should be looking in his room for clues of where he went.i would be out looking for him and doing what ever it takes to find him not sitting at home online worrying what other people think of you.children are a blessing and should always feel loved and never made to feel unimportant.the night she went to eat she should of wanted her son to go .maybe he was hungry.this is just sad that no one can find him.

Well said Redbud.
Harley come home!

I wonder about homeless encampments in the area. Here in Seattle a while back there was a runaway from out of state, she was held at knifepoint, and sex trafficked,by a so called benevolent 'homeless' person who took her in. It's a huge problem here. LEO hands are pretty much tied, they can't do warrant checks etc. So many of these encampments are safe Havens for predators, but not for young vulnerable runaways.
MOO.

This is not a big thing in NE Ohio. I travel a lot and am aware of the situation in many cities (including other southern Ohio cities).

For one thing, the weather in Port Clinton gets quite nasty in the winter. Outdoor or tent living is very difficult if not impossible (especially in the lake areas as windchills can get brutal) . As such there are many more safe havens, church programs and shelters. For another, the cost of living is pretty low in the area. You can find rents in Port Clinton for $400 / mo and the housing programs are fairly decent (dont face the major over demand as a lot of places).

At most in this area you may see a small number of people together under a bridge for awhile or squatting in a foreclosed home but it would be temporary. Most people facing or choosing long term homelessness start traveling south especially this time of year.

I get your curiosity but, Harley’s mom betrayed his trust leaking that, it’s his business to decide to share not hers or ours.
I know, I didn't mean it literally. It was more of a rethoric question, like, "how can a sister abuse her little brother?" or, in other cases, "how can a parent abuse their own child?". It's important for LE to know what Harley was really going through recently, both at home and at school, though.

“Harley, if you’re out there and you’re hearing this or seeing this we all want you home," the teen's grandfather Robert Styndl said during a Sunday vigil. "Your mom is in the deepest depression you’ve ever seen, she needs you to lay on her and hug her like you used to, we miss you son, come home please."

I wish the family would say they want Harley to come home because they love him and will help him with whatever is going on in his life. Or that it’s ok to go live with another family member or friend if living at home isn’t good for Harley. Just let us know where you are.

Sounds like from this statement that his mother suffers from depression and his disappearance has made her condition worse.

What if he took a “mental health break” and needs to hear - “it’s okay, do what you need to do for yourself” - not “you are making me depressed”, “do you know how this is affecting me”, “so and so will be so disappointed”, etc.

Would Harley feel bad hearing about his mom? Or has he dealt with that and other issues with his mom - and think this is about me this time?

Just my thoughts and opinions only.

It’s a worry Harley may have reached breaking point and may have harmed himself. It will be two weeks tomorrow since he went missing it is very concerning how long has past and there has been so sign of him.

New year brings no new leads in search for Harley Dilly

PORT CLINTON, Ohio (WJW) - 14-year-old Harley Dilly hasn't been seen in 12 days, and Port Clinton police say they don't have any new information to share on his disappearance.

The police department's New Year's Day update on their search asks people to continue sharing Harley's photo.

Harley was last seen walking to school on December 20.

Police say local, state and federal officials are involved in the search.

Authorities are urging citizens to come forward with any information or tips.

Area business owners are posting fliers and donating to a reward fund for help, that has grown to more than $7,000.

For my own sanity, and to organize my brain a bit, I made a timeline of all known facts released by the Port Clinton police department. But I am new here, forgive me/delete if not allowed.

12/19 Harleys phone is broken around this date so he does not have a phone on him going forward (per PCPD)

12/20 between 6 and 7 am - Harley and mom have an argument about going to school on the last day before winter break. He says he doesn’t feel good, she says, no you are going anyway. That is the extent of the argument per PCPD. 18 degrees on this day and hour per PCPD. He walks, past a video camera that records the last image of what they believe to be Harley. They know he deviated from his normal route to school because they checked footage on his normal route and he is there the rest of the days but not Friday (per PCPD).

12/20 sometime later that morning, school called moms cell phone but voicemail box was full.

per PCPD briefing on 12/26, in the past when there was a situation at home, Harley would go away for the night. “The first night was not uncommon. Parents weren’t concerned that he didn’t call because he didn’t have a phone. They became concerned Saturday night when they returned home to find that he hadn’t returned”.

12/21 11:50 pm reported missing

12/22 PCPD put out a missing youth alert locally. Parents house searched fully with a cadaver dog, no sign of foul play per PCPD briefing. Extensive search of Port Clinton area this evening. Investigation does not indicate any foul play per PCPD.

12/23 continued to search through the night, search party organized for 10 am. Reward of $7000 announced by PCPD.

12/24 Endangered Missing Child advisory issued. Listed as “Lost, injured or missing” on OH attorney general site.

12/25 per PCPD, they are observing numerous hours of video. Photo of Harley is released, taken 12/20 between 6 and 7 am heading South between his residence on E 5th st and the Port Clinton High School. School is SW from his house. Deviated from normal route as his absence is confirmed by camera footage per PCPD.

12/26 per PCPD, they finished observing hours of video. They are formalizing a search plan. “Nothing points to abduction” per PCPD. A search of 150+ acres conducted by multiple agencies, helicopters, live find and cadaver dogs. Search focused on an area to the East because there are fields and wooded areas there per PCPD.

Chief mentions that Harley doesn’t warm up to people quickly, “he needs to warm up to you before he will even look at you”. When asked About sources of this information, he replied that “information was received from school resource officer, school administration, mom and dad and friends”. In school, Harley was a likeable kid, had friends, per PCPD briefing.

12/27 per PCPD “no leads”. Search expanded nationally. News release from PCPD lists BCI, FBI (first mention of this one), US Marshall service among others as agencies involved. PCPD requests that residents go door to door passing out flyers. Per PCPD Chief, he is thinking of Harley as a “missing runaway, believed to be alive and staying away because he thinks he’s in trouble”.

12/28 no addl info to be shared by PCPD

12/29 “active investigation, release of information is limited. No information that he was abducted or injured in any way” per PCPD.

12/30 no news

12/31 no addl info. Statement saying that the family has cooperated fully and they have no reason to believe they are involved.

1/1 no addl info.
