Joey was 26, out, and well adjusted. He's not a closeted 50 year old married with children. He has no need to pull up at a dark public park at 1 AM. He went missing from a crowded gay bar for goodness sake!

Actually he left a crowded bar, we don't know where he actually (technically and legally) went missing from. Many people regardless of sexual orientation or age use dark public parks to hook-up.

This is the thought I've had as well.

For context, I'm gay, in my 40s, and live in Columbus. I've heard of Berliner and know it's a cruising spot because I hang out in the bars on the south side where Berliner is located. To my (also gay and 40+) friends, Berliner is a joke. To a 26 year old out gay kid who has no reason to hide, well, he probably doesn't even know it exists. That's supposition, really, I have no facts to back it up, just my feeling from being a pretty active member of the community here. Still, we're here to kick around theories and that's one of them that's occurred to people, I get it.

This is sad no matter who it is, but I admit to harboring a hope that it's not Joey. Still, it's one more young man lost to the water.

I am a 30 year old out gay man. None of my gay friends cruise at public parks. In an era of dating apps and websites, my friends and I consider cruising spots to be a joke.

I spoke with Joey on Grindr before, he has no need for Berliner Park.
 
That was a good point about decomp and water temp. I would think tho that clothing being pretty good, in what has been described as a pretty violent water might have resulted in them not being described that way.

It just creeped me out in terms of Arnold thing, thought ugh oh what was he doing the last 3 weeks. Was he forced into somethings

Water tends to preserve remains for a while, therefore slows down the decomposition process. 25 days is recent in the decomposition process considering the body was in water. It very much could be him, but who knows.
 
If it is Joey he didn't necessarily enter the water the night he went missing. He may have been abducted and held alive for several days and only recently murdered and dumped in the river. This is common among many of the other similar cases of missing men that fits his description.

The cruising a dark park topic makes me sad...I've not gotten this *vibe* about Joey, I'm feeling defensive on his behalf.

I think I need to lurk until this body is ID'd. :-(
 
Exactly. Sometimes it's the thrill of cruising, the excitement. It has nothing to do with being desperate. Some guys just like that scene. Doubt George Michael and Kevin Spacey (both rich, famous and attractive/charismatic) *need* to cruise parks at night .. Yet they do.
 
Enough of the discussion of Joey's sexual orientation unless someone can provide an MSM (Main Stream Media) link to support that direction of conversation.

Websleuths is a sleuthing site. Theories and speculation are certainly part of what we do here but when the speculation and theories start to grow legs and goes off topic with nothing to substantiate it's time to stop.

I agree that is why i found the decomp so upsetting. And with that muscles thing, it becomes even more chiling, hope I am so wrong here............ugh

Of course I don't think it's something to be ashamed of but the direction of this thread is going down a road of sexual orientation with nothing to back it up.
 
The sexual orientiation is only important if it helps link to a serial killer that is attacking gay men.

I dont really know if there would be a vibe, if you will, about someones sexual proclivities.

Also Officials say they were notified just after 1 p.m. that the body was discovered near the Police Division's old impound

this gave me the impression that someone other than LE found a body

Intersting, in this report she says no obvious signs of trama BUT, ruled it suspciou becasue of where the body was found (next to a cruise park?)

They also stated that the body was only partially submerged, which IMO sounds more like being held underwater focrfully, as oppossed to falling in. I think he would have been submerged and regassed up to the surface. moo
