I think police will give family a chance to memorial service, which will be good chance to observe him (they are probably watching him now, get a warrant, slip tracker under his car) and then invite him in for a chat............

his statement is really weird. I dont know if i've ever seen a statement from a person close to the deceased that only talks about themselves. It is always about the tragic loss of life, where that person was going in life, seeking to get info from the public about who did this, etc. Not about finding new friends, going to school, going to work and basically making life better for themselves. So odd.

Yes you are right...how many people close to those that have gone missing...and then their body is found...talk about themselves....I think only the guilty ones. Any normal person would be shocked and truly trying to figure out how in the world did she get their and for goodness sake....WHAT HAPPENED TO HER...WHO DID THIS....I don't see a speck of outrage....

If she was going to be his whole life....you would think he would feel some responsibility to help figure out what happened....of course....unless he knows...then he would just be worrying about how his life was going well and jeesh...now this inconvenience happens... seems like a typical MO of a guilty person.

sounds just like brandon lavergne in the mickey shunick case. all about him. and nothing about the victim.

Wonder if Ex-BF will show up to the funeral? Doesn't sound like it.

I think he will unless her Dad doesn't want him there. He looked really bad on news tonite. FYI, mom and dad are divorced, Katelyn and Dad had townhouse. He was at his GF nite it happened.
People are talking about his weird comments upon her body being found and looks like Mom went to the Scott Petersen school of Protect your kid at any cost.
Time will tell,I'll post links for you all.

Jeff Ruby's personality isn't for everyone, but I think this is awesome of him.

Agree! And that couple did not have to report the find so I give them credit for doing the right thing.

I dont know Jeff Ruby but loved the stand he took during the Drew Peterson trial and he called the dude right. He seems very vocal about justice.

I read this in the same account here neighbor heard them arguing, will try to find again.

If true, its hard to predict how people will react to hallucinogens. Someone could have had a bad reaction and done something bad.

A couple of random reminders for everyone.

Do not copy and paste posts from social media, i.e., FB, Twitter, etc.
Do not copy and paste comments from media articles.

If you find an interesting comment, and the site is not off limits, paraphrase or describe in a few words why it's interesting. Then add a link so others can read it for themselves, if they choose.

Also, when stating facts, you must include a link to an approved source, which boils down to MSM or a LE website. Anything else is considered rumor, and stating a rumor as a fact is not allowed.

Weird things running through my head ATM -- for whatever reason....

one thing -- for example >> where is Katelyn's engagement ring? -- its whereabouts may be telling...

:twocents:

:( wow i wasn't expecting an answer so quickly (i've been waiting on an answer about remains in another case i follow for like a month with no word) but i am glad that at least the agony of not knowing has been ended for her family.

following her case from the very beginning, i tried really hard to keep an open mind where certain folks in her life were concerned, but at this point i would say its impossible to not suspect JC.

did the PD ever forensically investigate her home? i've read about many searches, but nothing about what may have been examined in the home.

yes, they did.

John Carter's 911 Call Transcript- Sunday, August 14, 2011

____________________________________________

John Carter: Hi, my name is John Carter, I am calling, um - I, I know that you're not supposed to report a, a missing person after - before 24 hours, um, but, uh, my - my fiancee is missing, I - I can't find her anywhere -

Dispatcher: Okay, where'd you see her last?

J: Um, I saw her at like 12 o' clock last night. She stays in a house by herself, um, so, she - I'm just, I'm really nervous. Her car's still there, her purse is still - um -

D: Okay, where at? Is there an address?

J: Yeah, 5214 Dorshire Drive.

D: 5214?

J: Dorshire, yes.

D: Okay. And you're out there now?

J: Um, I - I'm heading out there now, I, I, like, have been trying to get ahold of her and I decided to go by her house to see if she's okay, and her car was still there - she would be at work right now, um, with her car. Which is why I'm like really freaking out.

D: What's her name?

J: Katelyn, Helene, Markham.

D: Have you called the hospitals or jails or anything?

J: Um -

D: Where was she at midnight last night, when you last saw her?

J: She was at her house. She was going to bed. She wasn't going out to do anything, so sh- she would, she would've been in her, in her bed. And - I mean, I've been with her for 6 years, and I - she's NOT deceiving, you know, she doesn't -

D: Okay, and you guys didn't have an argument or anything?

J: Not at all.

D: Okay. [pause] Is she on any medications or anything?

J: Not at all.

D: Has she had thoughts of suicide or anything like that?

J: No. Never. I... never.

D: All right. And have you talked to her mom or anybody like that, to see if maybe she's out shopping, or - ?

J: I called - I called her father... [changes the subject] The only thing that's not there is her cell phone, which is positive, but she's not answering it. So. And the Sacred Heart Festival is going on right up the street, and there's a lot of questionable people there, and it's just kind of - [he stops himself]. I'm sorry.

D: Okay, well, we'll go ahead and have somebody meet you there. What kind of vehicle are you going to be in?

J: A 2008 Ford Focus. - It's red.

D: Okay, we'll have somebody come out and speak with you, okay?

J: Okay, thank you.

D: Mmmhmm. Bye.

J: Bye.

Early on when Katelyn first disappeared I seen an interview that a local television station did with JC. JC actually said in that interview that he and Katelyn had an argument the night she went missing. Which I took that to mean the same night as he said he was out burning papers, the same night she sent him the picture of the picture.

A few days later the interview was no where to be found.

Hopefully LE knows about this and has seen the footage and have a copy.

The man who found Katelyn Markham's remains, Andy Hicks, will receive $5,000 from Jeff Ruby

Local restaurant owner Jeff Ruby plans to pay Andy Hicks $5,000 for finding Katelyn Markham’s remains.

Ruby told 9 On Your Side Friday evening that he felt badly after learning Hicks found the skeletal remains Sunday while looking for scrap metal near Big Cedar Creek in Franklin County, Ind.

He also said if the discovery leads to an arrest, he’ll pay Hicks another $20,000.
