“I’m sorry. I’m sorry I couldn’t find her sooner. I’m sorry she had to lay out there in the cold. I’ll tell her that I love her,” Markham said. “But I’ve already told her that a million times.”

Almost from the beginning, Markham did not hold out much hope for his daughter.

“I just never felt Katelyn would walk away,” Markham said. “I always thought the end would be horrific.”

It has been, he said, a long road home for his daughter.

Absolutely heartbreaking.

John Carter's 911 Call Transcript- Sunday, August 14, 2011

____________________________________________

John Carter: Hi, my name is John Carter, I am calling, um - I, I know that you're not supposed to report a, a missing person after - before 24 hours, um, but, uh, my - my fiancee is missing, I - I can't find her anywhere -

Dispatcher: Okay, where'd you see her last?

J: Um, I saw her at like 12 o' clock last night. She stays in a house by herself, um, so, she - I'm just, I'm really nervous. Her car's still there, her purse is still - um -

D: Okay, where at? Is there an address?

J: Yeah, 5214 Dorshire Drive.

D: 5214?

J: Dorshire, yes.

D: Okay. And you're out there now?

J: Um, I - I'm heading out there now, I, I, like, have been trying to get ahold of her and I decided to go by her house to see if she's okay, and her car was still there - she would be at work right now, um, with her car. Which is why I'm like really freaking out.

D: What's her name?

J: Katelyn, Helene, Markham.

D: Have you called the hospitals or jails or anything?

J: Um -

D: Where was she at midnight last night, when you last saw her?

J: She was at her house. She was going to bed. She wasn't going out to do anything, so sh- she would, she would've been in her, in her bed. And - I mean, I've been with her for 6 years, and I - she's NOT deceiving, you know, she doesn't -

D: Okay, and you guys didn't have an argument or anything?

J: Not at all.

D: Okay. [pause] Is she on any medications or anything?

J: Not at all.

D: Has she had thoughts of suicide or anything like that?

J: No. Never. I... never.

D: All right. And have you talked to her mom or anybody like that, to see if maybe she's out shopping, or - ?

J: I called - I called her father... [changes the subject] The only thing that's not there is her cell phone, which is positive, but she's not answering it. So. And the Sacred Heart Festival is going on right up the street, and there's a lot of questionable people there, and it's just kind of - [he stops himself]. I'm sorry.

D: Okay, well, we'll go ahead and have somebody meet you there. What kind of vehicle are you going to be in?

J: A 2008 Ford Focus. - It's red.

D: Okay, we'll have somebody come out and speak with you, okay?

J: Okay, thank you.

D: Mmmhmm. Bye.

J: Bye.

Other than the fact that there's really no pleading for help for Markham, the bold is where I find hinky wording wise.

I was so surprised and sad to see (last night) this re. Katelyn. I check in once in awhile and happened to check earlier this week and saw that is was possibly Katelyn found.
Once I heard Katelyn's story - just couldn't let it go. She has been the only story I've followed since Sept 2011. Can't imagine the pain of her family has been going through. Praying for her family.

The last person to see Katelyn Markham alive is not currently a suspect in her disappearance - YouTube

Mod: Please remove video if it goes against site rules. It is from a news site, and was unsuccessful locating the video on their direct website.

Im wondering if the wind could have blew the bag around her head? The only thing I can think of if JC didnt murder her perhaps bad drugs were a factor and others are involved in a coverup. I do believe due to the location of the remains that JC at the very least knows exactly what happened that night.

Since someone clearly dumped her body, I think that person probably put the bag on her head, so as not to be noticeable that a person was there.

Has Katelyn's dad ever said anything about her ex-fiance? How is their relationship?
Not a word, of course JC was at none of the searches anytime and now is refusing to talk to media:facepalm:
. Her Dad has been vocal about getting the word before and continues to thank everyone who searched.

I thought he did go to one of the searches.

I believe he did early on. Then something about his legs hurting so he was unable to?

That was my recollection as well. I perused the old articles, and all I found was this:

Markham's fiance, John Carter, says he will spend Wednesday evening at the search staging area on Patterson Boulevard handing out stacks of flyers to volunteers who want to pass them out.

I don't know if he actually showed up to help or not.

That is not "searching" in my book; ask the people who were out in the rain, etc and if it was my loved one I would be actively involved. Don't get me started...

The previous post stated that he was "at none of the searches." I just wanted to be clear, that I think he was at at least one of the searches. If he was there and didn't search, that's very odd, IMO, even moreso than not showing up at all.

I know sometimes LE asks that family doesn't participate in the actual searches, but I don't know that was the case here.

John Carter was at the Texas Equusearch on 1 Sep 2011

More than 120 people - including Katelyn Markham's fiancé John Carter - gathered early Thursday at Fairfield West Baptist Church for the most intensive search yet for the missing 22-year-old art student.

http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20110901/NEWS01/109020338/Intensive-search-Katelyn-Markham-begins

I have been here since Katelyn disappeared. I have stated that I believe that John Carter killed Katelyn Markham. I have spent hours watching video, reading transcripts, transcribing interviews and watching "body language". I have checked-in on this website and several others hoping to hear that Katelyn has been found or that John Carter has been named a suspect (or both).

I am sad that Katelyn was found thrown away with trash, but glad that the Indiana State Police are on the case now. There will be re-interviews of all the people that knew Katelyn and fresh eyes to look at this case. The police can no longer hedge that Katelyn "could have walked away from her life" the standard schtick that is said when young women disappear. The ISP have no dog in this hunt as the case is not local to them and they should not have any preconceived notions.

I pray for justice for Katelyn, her father and sister. God Bless Andy Hicks and his wife for calling the police when they found Katelyn's remains and Jeff Ruby for giving Andy $5000. for his part in bringing Katelyn home.

Dad didn't even talk to him.:what:

Has Katelyn's dad ever said anything about her ex-fiance? How is their relationship?

Dad has said NOTHING to him or about him. An Uncle of hers is pretty angry and following suit.

 I would need to be duct taped across the mouth if it was someone close to me.

Not sure if it is related but one of JC friends has been arrested: http://www.butler.miamivalleyjails....OR_PARTY_ID=P31337696&JAILBOOKING_ID=23682257

DETAINER - OTHER AGENCY
MD - trying to figure out if that stands for Murder or misdemeanor - anyone know off hand?
NO BOND with a holder..........interesting for sure

Update - appears MD = misdemeanor. Perhaps holding to see if he knows anything or parole violation and no bond till hearing. I guess we won't know till a hearing or another arrest..............
