joint request by state and defense for continuance. So everybody seems to be in agreement that trial should not move forward just yet. Not sure why. I suspect the state has some tightening up to do on their case but that is just a guess. IME defense is always onboard for a continuance.

Cleveland Police working with Crime Stoppers to ask public for information about Lachelle Jordan kidnapping

BBM - went missing, turned up barefoot and in a torn shirt. Interesting that most articles reference she said, she told LE, she told 911 operator. Nowhere does it reference burns or injuries. Of most interest to me is they are asking for the public's help in locating anyone who saw her during that week she was missing.

I can read between the lines enough to know that LE is trying to determine if what they were told is the truth of the matter. MOO JMO all that jazz.

I believe Stennett's trial was delayed by agreement of defense and state because the prosecution smells something fishy and they want to sus that out before they continue to try their case against the accused rapist. Also JMO MOO IMO etc.

CLEVELAND, Ohio – When Cleveland EMS worker Lachelle Jordan went missing for five days in May, Cleveland police repeatedly asked the public for help finding her.

In the two months since a barefoot Lachelle Jordan walked into a convenience store, city officials have repeatedly refused to provide an update on the case, leaving the community in the dark.

Cleveland’s silence stands in stark contrast to Alabama authorities investigating the high-profile missing persons case of Carlethia Russell. Officials in Hoover, Alabama have given regular, detailed updates on the case since Russell returned home.

In Cleveland, officials have remained silent since May 11, when Lachelle Jordan walked into a store on Euclid Avenue near East 166th Street and said she’d escaped captors who tried to set her on fire.

That ended a massive search that began on May 6 and attracted national news attention.

**********
No criminal charges have been filed in the case, no arrests have been made. No information has been released including if police have verified Jordan’s account or if investigators know where she’d been held.

Lachelle Jordan is the younger sister of Cleveland City Prosecutor Aqueelah Jordan.

When asked for an update on Thursday, Cleveland police spokeswoman Sgt. Jennifer Ciaccia sent this statement: “We continue to actively investigate every lead developed, but have no newsworthy updates at this time.”

I think one of the main differences is that LJ probably did not steal from her employer, just before she went missing, or search for questions/answers about Amber Alerts and kidnapping in the hours before disappeared. JMO

They don't come out and say it, but it's pretty clear what they're implying.

In my opinion they are still investigating and because she may be a rape victim they are not releasing any info at this time.

IMO, I wouldn't be surprised if we see no further charges nor prosecution of the original case.

Should the citizens of Cleveland be worried about a kidnapper on the loose ? Law enforcement has never addressed that question.

Cleveland.com isn't the greatest news web site. They're borderline tabloid, stirring up trouble.

As near as I can tell, there's no basis yet for bringing charges against the victim. LE is still investigating the case. It's pretty typical for them to not comment about ongoing investigations. There's really not much more to do right now. Perhaps they can look into some cell phone records, security video, etc. That takes time.

From the article

“No one has been arrested or charged, and no persons of interest have been identified,” according to a statement from the mayor's office. “We don’t have any information at this time that would indicate a threat to public safety in connection with this case.”

She has returned to work as an EMS worker

Chapin said Jordan is "a solid employee," adding, "She comes to work. She does her job. I don't get any complaints. She treats patients well. That's all I can ask for."

CLEVELAND — The Cuyahoga County Prosecutor's Office has dropped rape and abduction charges against a man previously connected to the disappearance of a Cleveland EMT this past spring.

The three criminal counts against 66-year-old Michael Stennett, of Shaker Heights, were dismissed without prejudice on Thursday. Officials told Judge William F. B. Vodrey this was "due to ongoing current investigations that the state cannot get into details of."
