I must have missed the part where they asked for tips from the public

This is way out there but reading the Crimes Against Children were Involved, could SIL have convinced the downs son to help him murder his Mom?
I hate to type that!

If LE had enough evidence to arrest SIL and hold him on one million bond, it would look like they would know who the accomplice is.

This couple is a well established family in their area. She being a teacher for 27 years and he a banker. It would be a difficult situation for all for LE to charge and arrest their special needs son with murder. Shudder to think about it!
So LE is crossing their t's and dotting their i's to have the facts down firm.

The son may have adored his BIL and was delighted when he moved in. After all, he had two sisters. He may have done anything the BIL wanted. I hope not!

Awaiting the time of death to see how long these two children were home alone.

Oh my Gosh! Poor Melinda. What horrors were going on in that house?

"A copy of the marriage license filed in Cuyahoga County probate court shows that Scullin lived at the Blazing Star Drive home along with the Pleskovic family"

"Records show police investigated a report of a theft from a car in January, and they went to the house again in July to investigate a suspicious person."

As far as we know, or what has been released to the public, this is a case of a SIL murdering his mother-in-law. So, why does the police chief thank The Ohio Internet Crimes Against Children at the end of his thank yous during the press conference? I fear the worst. I pray that I am wrong.

IMO if the SIL was involved in internet crimes against children and someone found out, they could use it as leverage to get him to help in other crimes.

I thought Scullin had gone out to dinner with the husband, Bruce, before both went home and found Melinda. When would he have had time to kill her? Before he left? Recall the husband in the 911 call being so specific about arranging to meet his wife at the restaurant after work, implying he went straight there from his work. Then she didn't show up, so he had dinner with the SIL. Very specific information for a 911 call.

I suspect if the OICAC was involved we might look at what I bolded below as something someone may have discovered someone else was doing...

The Ohio Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC) is a federal anti-crime initiative funded by the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention. It is a collaboration of city, county, state and federal law enforcement authorities across Ohio whose mission is to identify, arrest and prosecute individuals who:

(1) use the Internet to lure minors into illicit sexual relationships; or
(2) use the Internet to produce, distribute or solicit child *advertiser censored*.

Also:
Chaired by Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael C. O'Malley, Ohio ICAC continues to focus its efforts and resources on their mission by successfully battling the ever evolving dangers associated with chat rooms, social media, file sharing and mobile apps, all which are growing rapidly in popularity with today’s children.

There is a rumour that Melinda left school early that day due to someone trying to break in the house and had a substitute come in for her. If that is true, JS could have been at the home with the baby and soon to be bil, made the call to get her home,
killed her and met up with Bruce for dinner. 😕

I'm sadly not seeing a scenario where all three adults in that home were not involved in some way. Husband, daughter, and soon to be son in law. Unless SIL and husband didn't go to dinner at all and were actually in the home to care for the two children. For some reason I just do not think they were left home alone with a deceased woman in the kitchen.

Wow- I didn’t realize she left school early because of someone trying to break in!! That’s really concerning because the only person who is capable of communicating that to her, that was home at the time, is the SIL.
I’m on board with everyone that there’s more to this...

The poor daughter!! First her mother is murdered....by her fiancé and the funeral was the day she was planning to wed the alleged killer!!sheesh!

I could be very wrong and I apologize in advance if I am. But it seems like out of all of the reports of theft/trespassing/attempted break ins.. Melinda never actually saw any "perps" with her own eyes. It was always the SIL or her daughter who "saw" either teens and an adult in their yard, 4 teens smoking weed in their yard, someone in a Hollister shirt trying to break in, 2 big men trying to break in, etc.

Agree. Something that stuck out to me early on!!

Wow! Just checking in and I too did not expect this! Afraid to see what's to come because I don't think he acted alone. moo

People with Down Syndrome tend to have very low muscle tone. He'd easily be taken down by his mother if he was involved. Unless something strange was going on I don't think he'd be able to pull a trigger or stab a moving person. Plus he's functioning on a whole different level than SIL.

I taught kids with Down Syndrome and I've never seen a more stubborn group of people in general. It didn't matter how much I promised them, if they had their mind made up, that was that.

Just some observations, not all people with Down Syndrome are the same, but they do tend to share similar characteristics.

Agree, that scenario is highly unlikely. But the son may have seen or heard something, poor guy.

“This case remains under investigation as we continue to seek additional information,” he said. “We ask any member of the public who may have information on this case to contact the Strongsville Police Department at 440-580-3230.”

Interesting wording....thanks for the link and quote, Tillicum.
Almost sounds like LE would like tips about this case...from the perspective of those who knew the family--- as opposed to outside intruders behind the supposed 'break ins'.
Of course we can prob. assume the suspect's (sil) accounts of "attempted intruders" , were all bogus !!
:moo:

Also curious if Kyle (the down's son) displayed any fearfulness of the sil ? As if he KNEW the sil did "something bad" to Melinda ? :(
