Came to US in 2014, per MSNBC. Some type of message was left, which led authorities to believe attack was planned.

NOT confirmed.

linked earlier he was an 18-year-old Ohio State student, per NBC

The minute the nationality comes out the media runs to a terrorist - its repulsive in my mind.

Just have to say, after looking at daily mail photos, how grateful I am for LEO's. How they set aside fear and run towards danger to keep absolute strangers safe never ceases to amaze me.

That may be the case. I'm still keeping an open mind. The way this situation was handled WRT to news media is just moving my hinky meter a little bit.

Me too - the dude that called in was so authentic in adamantly stating that the car mowed down people.

It took the media 100 minutes to bring that in . Even the station that was called did nothing to check it out.

I can get a relover or pistol confused but there is such a difference between a car running over people it stuns me.

I do not think people run over by a car get up and walk.

How did it remain a gun story for hours?

People run over by cars wound patterns are different.

How did it take so long for the reports about gunshots? Medics would be reporting car injury.

None of this reporting was even close.

I totally get the confusion as a story is breaking . But it remained a gun shot for a really long time.

The guy who called in said he was there he saw it , why no-one followed up on that befuddles me.

If average me can conclude that THAT was what happened, by the way he reported it , his tone of voice, his clarity, he made it clear that he was calling to say he wanted them to correct that there was a shooter. He made it clear on more than one occasion that he saw it. I posted it after he reported. It was on 10 local.

I switched after a while channel 10, IMO was bumbling the 4 guys IMO much better anchors

The anchors said nothing after they got off the phone with him, and said nothing about it again. how on earth no-one followed up on that is nothing

,IMO, incompetence journalistically IMO one would also think that someone in the news room would inform reporters in the field to see if there is any credibility to the caller report .. .

Obviously, the cop who shot him had to be in the vicinity. There would be a bunch of eyewitnesses in the crowd.

Why did that officer not clear this up? Him getting shot happened very soon in the event.

You would think there were tweets from all the people there along the lines OH my god this car just came through and mowed over people.

All my opinion and sharing my confusion!

Nine people were injured when a man ran into pedestrians with his car on the Ohio State University campus, then exited the vehicle with a butcher knife and started cutting victims.

<snip>

Wexner Medical Center treated five patients: two were stabbed, two were hit by the car and one who hid after the attack and just arrived. The last victim's injuries were being assessed.

The Daily Mail says the 9th victim was a professor who was in Watts Hall at the time. He was reportedly slashed with a machete (his description). According to LE, they shot the perp outside, just after he attacked the group on the street. How did a guy inside the adjacent building end up wounded? Did the perp go inside?

That is why I think that was the only target, grades related and everything that happened afterwards, was not expecting a fire drill.

Only mo, but a butcher knife does not seen to indicate someone that is trying to kill masses of people.

Was he the injured person who hid afterward? Upthread someone posted about a victim who hid.

Maybe he was cut outside and then ran inside for safety?

IDK - total speculation.

Not sure how/if the fire alarm works with the scenario either. Still loose ends to tie up.

If I understood correctly the victim who hid was a female student.

I doubt very much that it was a grades related. The ISIS magazine had a recent cover article advising lone wolves to use their vehicles to attack crowds and kill them. Pretty coincidental it is a young Somali man. I think this is much more likely to be a radical Islamic issue than a problem with his grades...jmo

ISIS calls on Islamists to carry out knife attacks in areas such as alleys, forests and quiet neighbourhoods and told to aim for 'a reasonable kill count' in latest magazine

Islamic State has urged lone jihadists to arm themselves with weapons to carry out a 'campaign of knife attacks' in quiet neighbourhoods.
In a propaganda magazine, ISIS urged would-be jihadists to 'overcome their squeamishness' which it said was 'never an excuse for abandoning jihad'.
The terror group made the call in the second edition of magazine Rumiyah, meaning Rome, which was issued by the organisation's Al-Hayat Media Centre.
According to PJ Media, the article urges would-be jihadists to launch their assaults at nighttimeon random victims in alleys, beaches, forests, and 'quiet neighbourhoods', and aim for a 'reasonable kill count.'

The Institute for the Study of War noted in a 2014 report that ISIS spokesman Abu Mohammad al-Adnani instructed supporters in a speech in September of that year.

He said:

"If you are not able to find an IED or a bullet, then single out the disbelieving American, Frenchman, or any of their allies. Smash his head with a rock, or slaughter him with a knife, or run him over with your car, or throw him down from a high place, or choke him, or poison him."

They teach them now to run and hide but if the assailant has you cornered, you should fight. I think this comes from Virginia Tech where he walked in the classrooms and shot the people hiding one by one.

I totally understand that thinking. I'm just thinking of having my kids alive at the end of it. I'm just thinking emotionally.

All MOO!

MSNBC has also picked up that the professor was stabbed inside the building- that IMO is huge - indicates, IMO ,intended target .

From what I'm piecing together, it sounds like there was a crowd of students outside BECAUSE the alarm was pulled in a building. It was that crowd that the driver ran into, before jumping out the car with a knife.

Do I have that right? If so, it seems as if the fire alarm would be related.

The timeline is still fuzzy to me - correct me if you have better info. Thanks.
