Pike County murder trial: 'They should have death given to them,' George said should be fate of Rhoden killers

On rebuttal, Canepa asked what happens to George if he admits he helped slaughter perfectly innocent people, including two who'd been nursing infants at the time. He asked her to clarify if she meant what would happen to anyone who committed those crimes, but she simply repeated the question.

"What should happen to anybody is they should have death given to them," said George.

With no further questions to answer from either side, George stepped back down from the witness seat and walked across the court room to retake his place in the defendant's chair.
So many want to say JW and AW threw GWIV under the bus by complicating him. But, knowing they both confessed to being involved, he said any one involved should have death given to them. I’d say that he threw them under the bus with that comment…
MOO…

Was GW4 offered a plea deal? I thought I heard Parker ask that and GW4 said no. Of course, I may be mistaken.
yea its been mentioned alot of time in pre trial especially when the motions for removing death penalty due to "not shooting" started. its always weird to me that the jury may not be exposed to alot of what is said in pre trial. g4 attorneys have had a maleable response in real time to explain/excuse/indemnify g4s actions. like a sliding scale.

but yes all 4 were offered lwop plea deal. only jake took it. then angela did as a response to jakes altho id imagine the 4 wagners or at least angela and jake have coordinated these reponses and stories from the start. g4 lawyers like to go on and on about jakes deal but g4 could have taken the same one.

i despise jake and i know it was strategy not empathy which made him plea. but at least he acknowledged it even for selfish reasons. if i was a victim survivor this would mean something to me because it ended the gas lighting of the guilty parties which is so prevalent in our "justice" system. its a slippery slope with common sense on the jury and it can be dangerous for possible innocent defendants found guilty.

considering the immense options for appeal after conviction innocent convictions as a reason for expanding killers rights has run wild. but imo for every 1 innocent convicted 10000 guilty get off whether that means mistrial, weak plea bargain, lack of ability to indict even with strong circumstantial evidence. less and less murderers pay the full real price their victims pay. as the life expectancy has increased, murder sentences have decreased making killings quite equitable for scum like angela.

In OH v. #GeorgeWagner the the death specifications will be dropped from the case before closing arguments and before the jury deliberates. There have been a lot of questions about whether Jake Wagner testified "to the satisfaction the state" and if so,

what happens with the death specifications in GW4's case. Jake has to testify against any family member that goes to trial. Billy Wagner is the only other Wagner charged with the Rhoden-Gilley murders who is going to trial.
@LawCrimeNetwork

So, this means that applies to each individual case. Since the death specs will be dropped, the jury will not have to be sequestered. That would have been required if the jury had to consider the death penalty during a potential penalty phase

LIVE: Pike County murder trial: No jury, court holding procedural hearings

WAVERLY, Ohio — After the defense and prosecution verbally rested their cases in front of the jury on Friday, Judge Randy Deering instructed the jury not to come in for court the week of Thanksgiving. However, court is still being held for procedural hearings and evidential arguments.

Jurors will return on Monday, Nov. 28 to hear closing arguments, Deering said.

I'm still trying to figure out what this means. @PrairieWind

Note to @PrairieWind - Jake Wagner signed a plea agreement that said he would receive LWOP for pleading guilty and testifying against the rest of his family who participated in the Rhoden/Gilley murders. In addition, the other co-defendants would be offered LWOP if they also were part of the agreement. Now, in GW4's trial, we're hearing the death specifications against GW4 are being dropped, just prior to closing arguments.

What does this mean? Does it mean Jake testified to their satisfaction during GW4's trial?

The judge mentioned earlier that there have been new motions filed today, 1-13 to 1-17 if I remember correctly. Does anyone know what those are and who filed them?
No surprise with this defense team. They must be reaching some new record on motions. Will check.

Thank you for this, I kept trying to find the court page, but didn’t manage to find it. Unfortunately, when I click on Pike County Court View it takes me to a page that says Welcome to nginx and I can’t go anywhere from there. I think it may have to do with the fact that I’m not in the US..

Well, these are interesting.

As usual, trying to tell the judge how to do his job, pretending Judge Deering wasn't already going to do this. They've done this to prosecution before, too. It's part of how they try to undermine jurors trust in the prosecutors and the judge, immplying they're dishonest.

Defense did this frequently with the prosecution - filing motions claiming prosecutors were not giving them evidence that defense had already received.

Over the years during this case, they've changed the web sites for the courts. It can be difficult to find.
