New thread for afternoon session in George Wagner IV murder trial in Pike Co. First up is cross-examination of BCI agent Jennifer Comisford. Then it will be Angela Wagner's brother Chris Newcomb, who has opted in for camera. Then his fiancee who has opted in for audio.

Glad they opted in-should be interesting! IIRC he was present when GW purchased a gun (one of the murder weapons the .40?) or was that a rumor?

Has it been said in court by the judge that Jake's interview won't be shown at some point in time? I haven't heard that yet. There are rules that prevent someone from discrediting a witnesses statements before the jury has heard them. It's probably better to wait and see what happens before we criticize what may or may not happen.
The judge denied the defenses request to play JW interview, funny how there was no argument over BW and AW, and JW is not a witness he is a coconspirator, as is AW and BW but we heard them in all their glory

and I will continue to criticize the state for not having faith in their case, so much so that they are trying to protect a man who has admitted to murdering 5 people, 8 if you are GW defense attorneys

We heard about that in pretrial, I think, or during Rita Newcomb's pre-trial. He testified about meeting with George and going to a rest area on a local highway where George was buying a gun from someone. JMO

One of Billy & Angela's houses on Bethel Hill Rd had a grow op? Hmm

Angela took one of the kids to a hospital outside of town after the interview because she thought the Border Patrol had drugged one of the little kids.

JMO, this is the defense trying to discredit AW before she testifies against George about his involvement in the murders.

Defense says Angela used to go with Billy to Florida to traffic in pills.

Re direct - AC gets Comisford to testify that AW was alone inside store, but got into the back seat of the car/truck when she left (meaning someone else drove her to Walmart).

Calling Chris Newcomb to the stand. (JMO, IIRC, he's a fairly normal, regular guy, unlike some of his family)

Parker asks if she knew AW believed the border patrol people drugged one of the grandchildren during her interview and stopped at a hospital to have the kids checked out. Wow! AW is delusional!

He said around time of murders (?) he was getting ready for hunting season. Friends with Jake & George, went hunting together and other things. Said AW and Billy were close, had some friends. Knew that they moved to Peterson Rd. Didn't visit them as much once they moved to Peterson Rd. Helped build barn, fence, etc. Didn't recall hunting with them there.
Started a family in July 2016. After baby was born went to stay with his wife/partner's family. Lived in Chillicothe.

Then moved to S. Webster. Moved into house next to mother/grandmother's home right after they came back from AK. Stayed there about a year.

He was interviewed for a podcast I listened to. I recall him being closer to George than Jake because they were almost the same age. Angela is much older than him and her boys were more like brother to him because of the age gap. This must be hard for him. :( He had mostly positive things to say about George if I recall right. Said he wouldn't believe this of him, but Angela he could see it. She was controlling.

He says AW was controlling with her sons. Her relationship with Billy was dysfunctional. If you know Billy you know. He's about as useless at teats on a bull. Lazy, always running his mouth, always scheming. When he was at Peterson Rd, boys were there, Billy never was. In South Webster only saw Billy come by a couple of times.

Beth Ann - Jake's wife was there. Didn't know where they got married.

Wow. Why would border patrol drug kids?

Seems she is projecting what she has done to kids in the past to put that into this situation. Everyone drugging kids but her right?

CN describes Billy as "about as useless as t**s on a boar."
I am glad he is speaking freely and not trying to be proper or speak in a way that is not his normal language. This is real and what helps make witnesses believable. I just love country folks (and I come from the hollers of WV just across the Ohio line so I consider myself a bit country myself) and their call it like it is attitude. No putting on a show for the camera.

He thought his sister was trying to be more of a mother than she should have been.

Has always worked as a horse trader, guns, cattle, cars, anything. His dad was a trader, learned it as a kid.
Would help Jake and George find guns if they were looking for them. Helped George locate a 40 cal Glock. Found one. Guy lived in Hillsboro, via Facebook Marketplace. He ended up getting it, met at truck stop near Peebles.

we do not know what is in JW interview and neither do the jury to decide if it has any bearing on how they - the jury the ultimate triers of fact will decide what weight they give to JW testimony, the defense can use his words against him but that is very very different from hearing him speak

the damage to AW credibility after listening to her interview will have on the jury would be very different if they had not heard her just learned what words she said, the most damaging part of AW interview was her stunned silence when confronted with the shoes, her dissembling at whether she bought the shoes but couldn't remember, her absolute shock at the casing evidence, spoken words, intonation, emotion are all expressed by speech you cannot read emotion into words on a page, we would not have known how she spoke her denials, it is so important to hear not just read

but I understand why the state will not want to allow the jury to hear JW, both AW and BW royally f@@cked themselves over when interviewed, and I imagine JW fared no better, but if the jury were to hear him and how his voice changed, how he reacted when confronted with the evidence then the jury's ability to have any faith in what he says on the stand would be filtered t5hrough the prism of this interview, as AW will
The Defense gets their turn to present their side. They don't get to cut in line and do that when the prosecution is presenting their case. IMO

When was the Glock purchase - maybe a year or two before the murders. It was a long time ago. Any other recollection of buying for George. He asked for some rare, expensive things, didn't always find them. Did Chris ever find George any other types of weapons. He traded for some guns that George later bought from him. George didn't request them, but bought some Chris had already traded for.

Defense objecting.
