I think you could right about the very last part. And someone was supposed to get paid.
Everybody has interesting things to say this morn, and I guess a few of y'all were nite owls last nite! I gave up and went to bed about one, my tablet on the charger. I think I might have seen two mins of Murder She Wrote once I got in bed!
I still don't believe there is any volunteer family involvement here. And I have never believed BJ acted strange upon discovering the bodies. She was upset, clearly, and nobody thinks straight under that much stress. I am thinking Leonard was dropped off at Chris's house, and he told James to go get Dana. I think James flagged down a LE car, and that one went on to Chris's, and he radioed the next person to stop at Dana's, thus TOD, at 8:17, and TOD at Chris's at 8:07.
I do remember in an article the first week in June that said Leonard and Judy had filed for both babies.

Honestly i never believed BJM had anything to do with it at all. Im sorry she got such a bad rap in all of this.

GTA, posts #33 and #35, I'm totally confused as to what,or whom you are referring to!

Yeah, I guess since BJ made the discoveries, some find it easier to connect her with all this. She literally walked into a hornet's nest that morn.

Both. When my grandchild's father died, he and my grandchild's mother were no longer in a relationship. He was seeing someone knew. His new gf had a baby. My grandchild's father died, about a week after the baby was born. His name was on the birth cert. However, since they were not married, and paternity had never been legally established, s.s.would not pay survivor's benefits to the infant's mother, until paternity had been established. She had to get his mother and father to go to the clinic and provide dna swabs, to be sent in, along with that of her child's dna swab, to prove that he was her child's father since she'd not known that him being on the birth cert. was not enough, until after he'd been cremated. (My grandchild rec'd s.s. survivor benefits w/o any problem b/c paternity had been legally established, well before their father's death.) It was a very horrible time for her made even more stressful b/c she had to go through proving he was the child's father in order to obtain benefits for her child. Anyone who has a child, and are unwed, even if they are happily living together, really should legally establish paternity. In the event that something happens it takes a lot of stress off of the child's mother.

My grandchild's dna also had to be submitted since they were known to legally be his bio child. It was voluntary but w/o it, I don't know that it would have gone through for my grandchild's 1/2 sibling.

Similar motive?
Under arrest and shackled following the slaying of five friends in a ruralhome, a Mississippi man professed his love for the estranged girlfriend whose family and friends were massacred and blamed the killings on drugs.Speaking with reporters as he was escorted to jail by deputies in Mobile, Alabama, Derrick Dearman said Monday that he was on methamphetamine when he went to the house, located at the end of a dead-end dirt road.
“Drugs (were) making me think things that’s not really there,” said Dearman, 27, hanging his head and dressed in a bright yellow jail uniform.
After the killings, authorities said, Dearman abducted estranged girlfriend Laneta Lester, who had sought refuge at the house, and a child of two of the victims. Dearman said he spared their lives because “I came down and realized what was really going on.”

Wow. That guy seemed completely out of control though sounded real messy. I've been searching for the same style murders. Gunshot wounds to the head as well as looking for murders along the same route and referring to the Wikipedia picture of the map or along route 32. Any counties along there. Clear across the country. I have a feeling he may have been a truck driver and most likely transporting drugs. Just the direction I'm running with today.

Yes, I read both. I commented about the similarities of the second one. My comment was about how the killer(s) could have gotten info on the home locations and layouts...
With help from people he came across or had business with. He may have been dealing directly with the victims. All were selling drugs so that's other thing I'm looking for.

Interesting.

I've been researching the US 23 and US 25 corridors, and off shoots, for major busts and/or similar murders along them. Drugs may fade in and out as my primary theory, but, one can't entirely dismiss it as a theory.

Thanks for sharing.

I think it's a relevant example of family related motives. Although in the Rhoden case, we are looking at someone more stable and at least 2 perps according to law enforcement.

The_OG also provided another interesting case in thread 18.

I keep trying to imagine what
would motivate anyone to annihilate an entire family. I realize greed $$$ is a powerful motivator. I just think it had to be more. Something on a very personal or moral level to this.

I agree. One would have to have a pretty low morality and low esteem of the victims. I cannot picture this in this immediate environment of the family.

Historically, I would be curious to see how frequently people have sold their family just for money without any sort of personal motive.

Unless the person did not anticipate what was going to happen. But then I would ask, if the intention wasn't there, why this person would continue to protect the perp. I don't really buy that scenario.

Regarding the protection of the perp with respect to facts or alibi, the most probable scenario is that the perp(s) is (are) covered by people with an intimate relationship: parents, brother, lover, best friend....

Wonder how long it will take for a decision?
