Appreciate the ability in this day and age to watch a live feed of course. However, if that is your paid job to execute the live feed, I assume you want to do it well...and having the camera on the judge's face while he read the indictment for the murder of Hanna Rhoden INSTEAD of on Jake Wagner was a huge fail (in my head I'm seeing "You Had One Job..." meme's). We all wanted to see his reaction to that one indictment! His breathing did seem to slow as the charges were read, I wanted to see if it picked back up when her murder was mentioned. Because after everything I've read I do believe he truly loved that girl and couldn't stand the thought of her being intimate with him and 2 other men is such a short time period that she wasn't certain whom fathered K, that hurt (from JW) and anger (from AW) fueled by drug use is what spawned the start of this evil revenge plan.

I also for the life of me don't know how one pleads not guilty in a court of law to that last count. The child is alive, the math is not fuzzy?? Confused by that.

Also just have to say, the chuckle at one point when asked if he understood the charges near the beginning...yikes. His face was also a little too calm and serene for a young man facing those charges, definitely a little bit of a sociopath vibe coming off that one. Either that, or 2.5 years of sleeping soundly thinking you got away with murder gives you a false sense of apathy about the charges against you.

I was thinking the same thing, even if they would have only filmed the defendant for 10 seconds you would think it would be while the judge read the charges for HR. Not sure what camera guy was thinking.....

RAISINSBACK, Darn, I wish you could have watched the live feed. JW mostly just stared at the paperwork his attorney held up as the Judge read the charges. Except for an occasional eye blink he just looked as if he was "reading along" a story. REALLY EERIE....absolutely no expression!!! I was looking for someone in an orange jumpsuit..... so, at first, I thought he was a female walking through the door. (Geez, stronger coffee wouldn't have helped.) Can anyone tell me how one can listen to such horrible, comprehensively described crimes charged against you....AND NOT HAVE ONE FACIAL CHANGE?

He does have a delicate, almost feminine, face and a small frame. Which is weird when you look at his father and brother.

I would say that its most likely bc he lacks empathy and any emotional connection to his crimes, as is the case with many killers.....jmo

Sorry to hear about your live feed experience. If WLWT does a replay of their video, you should watch it. Most of the video was focused on JW and his attorneys. A few close-ups of him, his tats, etc.

Edward "Jake" Wagner pleads not guilty to 23 counts in Pike County mass killing

It's possible the video reporters agreed with each other to focus on different areas during the live feed so everything would be recorded. Not sure, just a thought.

ETA: Found the WLWT video on their FB page

I'm puzzled by a lawyer mentioning level of education as some sort of defense or excuse for any sort of bad behavior. I've known many well educated people who are morally bereft, cruel and uncaring of others and many people with less than ideal education who were kind, compassionate and caring people and who wouldn't dream of hurting another person intentionally... wouldn't even say anything mean about another person. I see no connection between formal education or the lack thereof and being raised up to be decent, reasonable, kind and unselfish people who are capable of conflict resolution without violence and killing.

I think the attorney was laying the ground work to show his client was not smart enough to do some of the things he is charged with.
He wants the court to think he couldn't do the hacking and conspiracy things he is charged with...

I can't find Jake in either Pike or Franklin County court sites.... he is in Franklin County jail, right? Wonder why they are not showing him Pike County.

Betty P - the article link in your post #566 - I have no access to. Is there the "other" date that you didn't hear. I have 12/11.

I had trouble hearing what was being said so I appreciate those who contributed the information I missed. During the hearing I had to stay busy observing other things. I noticed that Jake's hair tells a tale on him... he's either burned it using a hot comb too many times (no) or else ... he's been doing some of that very potent "speedy" stuff up until very recently (yes) imo. Nothing like speed to turn the hair into hay, imo.
I had the irrational thought for just a moment that I wished the murdered family members could be there, too, to see the love and support and justice for their murders being done... but then, of course, just wishing none of it... not one moment of it had ever happened so there would be no arrests and hearings or trials at all. The Rhodens would be at their jobs working today... and wouldn't Chris Jr have just graduated from high school last June?

On the hacking. I don't think there was any real hacking. JMO most people write their passwords down and stick them all over computer, desks, laptops etc. A simple keylogger (under 20 bucks) will log every keystroke and send it to you. If all your devices are synced, like everyone does these days, then every keystroke including passwords, texts etc. 99.9 % of people don't change passwords on their routers ( right on side.) Quick picture and you have access to router, wifi etc. JW had access to Rhodan houses for years. Easy peasy to steal passwords.

I agree with your assessment but not with the attorney's premise. There are guys out there who failed all the way through school and could take a car apart and put it back together again. My son who, at age 10, obviously had very little education at the time (just what any other 10 year old would have) built his first computer with no difficulties at all. Education and being intelligent or "above average" in many ways are two very different things. The Wags might lack formal education but we can agree, for example that, handed hunting rifles, they're going to eat food and very quickly... and I have more education but I'm going to starve.

I haven't found anything on the Pike County court search. I'm taking off for a bit, but plan to check the news media stories later to see if they have the info. I really wish Pike County had a better system for accessing info on their Common Pleas Court docket.

There has to be evidence of “real hacking” as it’s stated in each indictment, along with listing counter surveillance and accessing the victims phone conversations prior to their murders. Also consider that 4 of the 8 victims were very young adults and teenagers who most likely used a smart phone to access social media, not a computer with sticky notes of passwords everywhere. JMO.

Thanks for your answer Betty P - I'll wait to see what you find out about that other date! :)
