Just in. http://www.10tv.com/content/stories...ssing-ross-county-woman-died-of-drowning.html

An autopsy revealed a woman missing since Christmas died of drowning in Ross County.

Ross County Coroner Dr. John Gabis confirmed on Saturday the death of 20-year-old Shasta Himelrick.

Her body was found Friday in the Scioto River by searchers with the Ross County Sheriff's Office and the Union Township Volunteer Fire Department.

Gabis says the cause of death was drowning, but the circumstances leading to her death is still under investigation.

The coroner said he is also awaiting tests to confirm that Himelrick was pregnant.

so far we know there was blood in the car and she was alive to drown in water................so sad

Thank you to all of you who came to the bridge with us. It meant the world to me. Thank you Teresa for being there for me! And your daughter. You two I hold dear to my heart. Andrew,Johnathon, and Jesse from Rescue 101 you have been amazing throughout all this. You not only helped my cousin but you helped my family. And Johnathon even came and visited me why I was in the hospital. Your team goes above and beyond. Thank you to all of those who could not come but still lit candles at home for her! I love you all. And now my mission will be to get her justice and get her abusers behind bars

ETA Is it ok to quote from their page? If not I'll delete.

and did they have a friend with a car to take them home?
If a rural area then maybe a limited amount of cell phone calls bounce off the tower..so maybe whoever SH was with had to call someone to get picked up after disposing of her body.

could Shasta's death be a drug deal gone bad like robbery and murder by perps that she delivered drugs to for someone else??? It happens sometimes...........
That scenario played out in Maine (name skips my mind)..she was murdered with her baby in the car. Perps caught and convicted .

unless planned and perp(s) was in another car ready to run............

There are so many possibilities here so I'm waiting to hear COD. I'm curious about the "hustle and bustle" at home before she went to her grandma's. Also after viewing the maps, what could've caused the family's SAR team to zero in on Higby Bridge in such a short time? Not meant in a negative way but maybe this is a road she traveled regularly, friends nearby? Remember they didn't have access to clues on her phone until the car was found. Did any of her friends who texted her contact the family with concerns or knowledge of her possible location? If any friends were involved with drugs they would contact her family with info before they would LE IMO.
Good point considering the location unless it was a known route by those in her circle for whatever reason.

I read "abusers" as drug dealers..

The train track... Maybe the perp wanted the car to be destroyed by a passing train, hoping it would also remove the evidence in the car?

When I read at the tracks I didn't take that to mean the car was physically on the tracks. I think the author meant in the general area of the tracks. If her car had indeed been left on the tracks, I think that is something LE would have made known and would it would have been reported as "on" the tracks.

Now that it's been confirmed by the coroner should the thread include deceased?

Official cause of death is drowning. Is there more that isn't being shared by LE? Was there any bruising on her body? Anything that might indicate her being hit with something? There was blood in the car, it had to come from somewhere. Any visible wounds to explain where it came from? Is the blood even hers? Anything found in her system...drugs, alcohol?

Wouldn't a simple blood test tell whether she was really pregnant or not?

tox tests from blood and urine may take awhile
why would drug dealers want to kill a client??? just wondering..........
easy way to murder someone known to do drugs...........OD them but why?
all these young girls missing, now dead.........
Nancy Grace get on this case! and town!

or even the size of uterus and if fetus was inside..............LE must be lining up all their ducks in a row.
Sadly a family, friends and a town are waiting for answers.

I think the inheritance has something to do with it. We're talking 5 figures gone in a matter of months. Nothing to show for it. The women were friends or had mutual friends involved in drugs. Drug use leads to other crimes to pay for it. If she was regularly drug tested I really doubt she was using again but did any of her friends who are using know about the inheritance?
