UGHHHHH this does not surprise me at all. Even today (2018) there are certain Christian groups that require followers pay out of pocket for some required activity/training to keep participating in the group.

So many wolves in sheep's clothing out in the world.....

I had no idea that certain religious groups do that :( So sad. Despite the bible verse in my signature, I'm not actually religious (the verse was referenced here and I like it) and I don't know much about religion.

Off topic but how did we get to 4,000 posts!! Wow. No longer this post takes forever to load lol.

It's crazy! I am so happy that so many people care so much about Marcia and have kept this page open for her all these years. It brings tears to my eyes just thinking about it :rose: Marcia was loved and cared for in life as well as death :rose:

The more I think about this and the more I discuss this case with friends and family... I'm beginning to think that MK did not spend time with other Way members in the Troy/Piqua and surrounding area. Her attire was so unusual for the time that people would have immediately recognized her from the news reports in 1981 if she had spent time in their fellowships. The current news update stated that MK was in northern Shelby County at some point but It didn't say exactly when. She could have been at the Rock of Ages festival in August of 1980 and perhaps that is the "at some point" the news article is referring to. I'm beginning to think that MK may not have made it to her destination, New Knoxville.

Which update are you referring to? Is there a link?
I would never have recognized her from the autopsy photos and given the one provided by her family of her in life. And personally her attire was not that unusual to me for the time period. I am just a bit older than she and live in the area and honestly would not have given a second look. Maybe just the life I have lived and where I'd been in the 70s and 80s.

But I dont think she was around Troy for very long. And her hygiene and clean bare feet do suggest she probably stayed somewhere. Her attention to her personal appearance suggest she spent time on it-- those meticulously plucked eyebrows say a lot.

It is a little difficult after all these years of searching, reading, posting and keeping this young lady and "Lyle" in mind!

The thing that's different here for me (compared to Lyle's case) is that Marcia's killer still needs to be found. I really hope that will happen. She deserves justice!

Yes! I agree! Everything is done for Lyle, his case is closed - thank God - but Marcia's is not!

I agree and, as someone obsessive about my eyebrows, if I was wandering and hitchhiking with no place to stay, I probably wouldn't focus much on my eyebrows. Marcia had to have had somewhere to stay to be so clean, as well as probably a compact mirror, tweezers, and eyebrow scissors.

For me, her hair was much redder than I expected, but she looks very similar otherwise. The nose looks different from the side to me, I'm thinking it was possibly broken.

Here is the news article I was referring to: https://www.daytondailynews.com/new...nto-unsolved-homicide/Fz5capsVOPZknmNAxuYDCP/

It says "At one point, King spent some time in northern Shelby County".

I could be wrong but it seems to me if she was hanging out in the local home-based Bible fellowships in Troy, someone local would have recognized the buckskin jacket she was wearing when the news reports broke in 81. I'm sure that out-of-state visitors to the fellowships would eventually introduce themselves or be introduced when they arrived. Troy was a small town back then.

I think it's possible she was given the buckskin jacket by somebody (probably a guy) in a fellowship. The pollen on the jacket might have been due to it being worn by someone who was traveling for The Way. That theory has been brought up many times, but it being there specifically due to The Way encouraging traveling would make a lot of sense.

I still think it was a men's jacket.

I think it's possible it belonged to her killer, although I'm not sure why he wouldn't retrieve it after he killed her.

This does make sense. So it very well could have been a crime of passion. I'm still wondering about this Benasutti guy. On this map https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewe...&ll=39.85665265137514,-84.33352126022191&z=16 there are 2 other unsolved murders in the Clayton area that stand out to me: Kimberly Sue King, her body was found in a wooded area in November of 1981 & Paula Beverly Davis in 1987 due to strangulation.

I can't believe I forgot who Paula Beverly Davis was and that she was found murdered there! (For those who can't remember: she was the UID FKA "Blue Bandana Girl" - Websleuths thread here: https://www.websleuths.com/forums/s...-Bandana-Girl-WhtFem-17-25-Aug-87-Paula-Davis)

Here are links to three articles about Paula: http://kcur.org/post/kansas-city-women-find-missing-big-sister-22-years-later#stream/0

I don't think Paula and Marcia's murders are connected, although it is possible. I tend to agree with Paula's sisters that Cathy Wood may know more than she is letting on.

I wish I could find anything on Kimberly Sue King.

and of course the Yolanda Debarge murder in 92.
Yolanda's ex MIL wrote a book, she said Benasutti killed her and mentioned her ID was found in his possession. I can't find anymore on that other than what was written. I've thought about messaging her on her FB page to ask more about it, but that might creep her out.

Kimberly Sue King is ringing a bell, I can't seem to find anything either. Might need to look in DDN archives.

I commend all of you who are still working hard for Marcia. I believe LE is going to solve this now.

Here is something else to consider. I ran across an article by a psychologist who explores the concept of sexual trophy collecting: https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/in-excess/201607/sexual-trophies-murder-and-addiction He mentioned a book by a Dr. Eric Hickey in which Hickey explains that many serial killers are “known for their habits of collecting trophies or souvenirs. Others have collected lingerie (link is external), shoes, hats, and other apparel”. In this case MK was missing shoes with clean feet. Could the killer have removed the shoes before dumping the body to keep as a souvenir?

It's possible. It has also been brought up that the shoes she was wearing may have been expensive, stylish shoes to match her jacket and that her killer may have robbed her to get them, killing her in the process of the robbery.
