I was referring to a previous post about the distance from the pickup drop spot (University) to Hoffman's home (where Sarah was rescued). Someone posted that the distance is about 5-ish miles.

seems to me he took a big chance on GB not coming home...I mean, even if GB wasn't there at his 'regular' time, who's to say he wouldn't come home in the middle of whatever was going on at the house after the kids got home from school.

But - then again - maybe he did know about GB IF Tina did know Hoffman prior to this....

Just thinking out loud.

And what about Stephanie? Does she work? Have a boyfriend? etc, etc.....

It could be that she's the connection to Hoffman. Who knows??

All three lived in the same neighborhood. I know Hoffman had this other house, but he used his parents' address, too, and their house is in the same neighborhood as Tina's and Stephanie's. He may well have been friends with Tina's live-in boyfriend, too.

This was brought up just now per the FB site, and I wanted to ask about it earlier but the news broke on Sarah and I didn't want to pull away from that information.
However, if locals or past locals are online maybe you can help me... just a bit?

When I was looking at googlemaps earlier (in satellite view), I noticed that there is easy, easy access to rivers at several points, with the hwy's or emergency lane being the access point. I am no outdoors(wo)man.. and I found myself asking "Which way does water flow again??!" Maybe I can get some help with this...

Are hwys out there busy at night? And, is there some sort of filtration that is done with the water out there?

I will add a map in a second, I have to go back and pull an address:
(This is just one of several areas with access points that look like this)

I read before that Sprang was helping Tina find an apartment, but this story makes it sound like they were finding one to share (different than another story with a quote also attributed to GB):

Herrmann and Sprang had been planning to get an apartment, said GB, who said he and Herrmann had recently ended a six-year relationship.

Did Tina know GB was going to spend night at friend's?

If so ... why text him to tell him she'd fed the dog? That's something you'd tell someone you expected to be home later ... JMO

B. said Herrmann texted him on his way to work at a distribution center about 80 miles away in West Jefferson about 4:40 a.m. Wednesday to let him know that she'd fed the dog. He said the dog, a miniature pinscher named Tanner, also was missing.

ETA
had to find again

B. says he finished his shift 4 p.m. Wednesday and spent the night with a friend. He was playing golf on Thursday when his mother called and said something was wrong with Herrmann.

He didn't think much of it, until he returned to the house in Howard after 5:30 p.m. and found authorities there.

Thinking that I'd look in the opposite direction from the house (not in direction of campus where truck was found) since he'd want them to be looking far away from where they are.

JMO

I'd looking at the lake near his parents' home.

He could have simply put Sarah in his house first before getting rid of the truck. I also wonder how he got to Tina's house in the first place. Maybe he has a motorbike or something?

Close enough to walk to from his parents' home.

The park was shown on the WBNS 6:30 newscast. From what I understand, this used to be an old gravel pit that was filled up with water and turned into a public park. The newscast did show people looking around at that park today.

I'm a couple of pages behind on this thread, but I did check the FB page and saw that there's a search going on of a gravel pit.

As for the ransacking..............I think it's very possible that it was the suspect. His parents house is close enough to Tina's and he could have easily observed their comings and goings, and knew when he could enter the house.

I saw a rumor posted on FB about the gravel pit. I think some folks complained about the post and it was removed. Now I'm wondering if there was some truth to it. So as not to add to the rumor mill, I won't repeat what the post said was found. But it could be the reason some folks are there looking.

i was also thinking as far as a body bag.....could it have been the dog?

I thought about that, too. But then again, I was thinking that might have been the dog's blood at the house... :(

I have hoped from the very beginning, as soon as blood was mentioned, that it would turn out to be from the dog. I keep on hoping, until it is made impossible..

My thinking about the dog was that someone entering the home would need a way to silence the dog. :(

Someone above mentioned that maybe the dog was used as a way to get the people to cooperate. Well... I love animals: we have a dog, a cat, and two bunnies. Our dog sleeps on our bed with us. But if someone broke into my home and said, "I'm going to torture/kill your dog if you don't do so-and-so", it would not prevent me from trying to save the people in the house, over the dog. And that's hard to type, but it's true.

FWIW, I'm pretty sure the Sheriff in his presser said that Stephanie's vehicle was found at Tina's house. I've got too bad a headache or I would watch it again.

Also the searching at night is being actively discouraged on FB.

10TV keeps updating their one news link and adding to it. This sentence popped up in the last update:

"Two people who spoke with [TV10's] McEntyre said that Hoffman had recently assaulted a former girlfriend."

:(
Next door neighbor Davis said that Hoffman moved in the house alone but had a girlfriend with a young son living there until recently. Are they accounted for?

The dog was a miniature pinscher. Not much of a threat. And IIRC the live-in BF said the dog was missing ... so he wasn't found in the house.

GB said Friday he last heard from the mother on Wednesday when Herrmann texted him on his way to work at a distribution center about 80 miles away in West Jefferson at about 4:40 a.m. to let him know that she'd fed the dog. He said the dog, a miniature pinscher named Tanner, was also missing.

I don't see anything on the FB page about a night-time search being discouraged (to whomever said they saw that).

Our little dog isn't much of a threat but she sure would make alot of noise.
