Yes you will get flack. Most hunters do not kill for fun. They eat what they kill.

I agree. Until the late 19th and 20th century food processing, most of the population in the United States was rural. Everyone had a garden and fruit trees and grew their own vegetables, and canned the food. They grew grains and milled their own flour. They raised fowl for eggs and meat. They had cows for milk, raised sheep for wool, pigs for slaughter, etc. Hunting deer and other wild game was not a sport or for fun, but to put food on the table.

Modern day hunting is an outgrowth of traditional hunting for food. Hunters eat what they kill.
